Full-time: Cologne 0-0 Freiburg

Cologne could now be relegated tomorrow after a scoreless draw where they just didn't have enough quality up front. Timo Schultz gave his side the platform for victory with a huge 20 shots to Freiburg's four, but with no cutting edge, the Bundesliga 2 is on the horizon. A win for Mainz tomorrow and a draw between Union Berlin and Bochum will mean farewell for the Billy Goats with two games to play. Freiburg, meanwhile, reclaim seventh in the table, but had an unremarkable match without a single shot on target meaning it was one Cologne really should have won.

information
xGoals
The xGoals value of a club is calculated from the sum of all goal probabilities (goals and shots on goal) of that team. During a match, it’s easy to see whether the club is performing better than expected (goals > xGoals) - or maybe even higher (xGoals > goals).
The xG chart shows just how big that Alidou chance was.

Half-time: Cologne 0-0 Freiburg

A half low on chances comes to an end. Cologne certainly controlled the game but it was the story of their season as they failed to convert any chances. Freiburg grew into things as the half drew on, but clearly weren't willing to take any risks.

Classy from Streich

Freiburg's manager takes time to greet each of the Cologne XI before they head out the tunnel, showing why the departing manager is so loved.

What's at stake

Defeat for Colgone will leave them with at best a relegation/promotion spot to fight for, while a loss or a draw would mean that Mainz can relegate them with victory against Heidenheim tomorrow. Freiburg are still in the hunt for Europe with seventh now guaranteeing a Europa Conference League spot. Hoffenheim leapfrogged them into that berth with a draw on Friday but SCF can jump back ahead with a win or draw today.

Streich's view ahead of Cologne

"Cologne recognise they have a chance. Normally, they'd win against us now, and that's dangerous for us because they have a lot of energy. But on the other hand, Cologne are also under a lot of pressure. You have to realise that too. And we've discussed that and now we're travelling to Cologne and it's going to be very emotional, it's going to be very loud, but that's what we always want. It's nice."
camera-photo

Schultz's view ahead of Freiburg

"We want to show a different side to ourselves at home. We want to be bold and get forward at home. We need the three points. We don't have to beat about the bush, but for the three points we'll need a good performance first and foremost. We're absolutely convinced that we can put ourselves in a significantly better position this weekend and that has to be our goal. As I said, with a good performance. We can't influence anything else."
