Full time! Gladbach 2-2 Mainz

Joe Scally rescued a point for Borussia Mönchengladbach against Mainz, who remain winless this season. Florian Neuhaus put Gladbach ahead after chances had come and gone for Alassane Pléa, but the 05ers levelled out of nothing when Brajan Gruda smashed in a brilliant long-range strike. Substitutes Anwar El Ghazi and Aymen Barkok combined to give Mainz the lead in the second half, with Robin Zentner proceeding to pull off some miraculous saves to keep Gladbach at bay. His resistance was broken two minutes from normal time, though, as American substitute Scally drove home a fine equaliser.

Chance not taken!

The subs combine as El Ghazi frees Barkok, who shoots tamely at Nicolas. You do wonder if he'd have done more with that, had he been on the pitch for longer.

Mainz change

El Ghazi's on for his third Bundesliga appearance since joining Mainz on a free transfer. The impressive Gruda makes way. Barkok's also on for Lee, who spurned a glorious chance to put the 05ers in front not long ago.

Top scorer back in fold

Seoane has confirmed that Tomáš Čvančara, Gladbach's top scorer this season with three strikes already, is fully fit again. Seaone says the summer signing "missed the Leipzig game through injury so only made a brief appearance in Bochum. He has made real ground this week in training though and is at 100% again for Friday's match."

Seoane wary of Mainz

Gladbach coach Gerardo Seoane says: "Mainz work hard off the ball and don't allow you many chances. They deserve more points than they've picked up. I'm expecting them to show a reaction."

Upbeat Bo

Mainz coach Bo Svensson has expressed confidence his side will improve on the form that has sent them to the bottom of the table. He says: "We're focused solely on what we can influence. We need to keep working hard. Eventually, luck will be on our side too."

Watch: Mainz 4-0 Gladbach - previous meeting

In February, Mainz ran out 4-0 winners at home. How they would love to repeat that result at BORUSSIA Park.

Head-to-head

Mainz struggles continue

Bo Svensson's side are currently in the middle of a worrying run of form. They are now without a win in their last 11 Bundesliga matches, with their last victory coming in April against Bayern - who they play next after the international break!
