Contrasting pre-season fortunes
There was some slight concern at Bayern after they started pre-season with a win and draw against lower league opposition, but they soon twice beat Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspur to wipe away those fears and make it four wins and a draw out of five. Wolfsburg only won one out of their five games, but faced solid top-flight opposition in Brentford, Como and Lille.

Bayern have Wolfsburg's number
This fixture has been played 54 times in the Bundesliga with Bayern winning 43 of those games and Wolfsburg just four. In fact, the Wolves haven't beaten Bayern since 2015, a whole 19 matches ago. The one hope for the hosts is that all four of those victories have come at the Volkswagen-Arena.
