Full-time: Kiel 0-2 Leipzig

Marco Rose's side are finally back to winning ways. In many ways it wasn't always a pretty performance, but Leipzig defended and battled well, weathered the Kiel pressure and were clinical when they needed to be. André Silva's penalty doubled the lead that was found in the first half by Benjamin Šeško. That's now four consecutive Bundesliga defeats for Marcel Rapp's Kiel side.

Coollest man in the stadium

Silva was never in doubt as he stepped up to convert the penalty. The goal came somewhat against the run of play, too.
80'

Good chance for the hosts

Skrzybski wriggles free of a tight area in the midfield. He spreads the play to Porath, who puts in another good cross, this time towards Bernhardsson. He miscontrols it but chases the second ball, managing to get a shot away but taking it off the foot of the on-rushing Harres. It ends up in the side netting.

Porath plays in Harres, who unleashes a snap-shot in the box. The net appears to bulge, but the ball had gone narrowly wide of the post and behind the goal.

Vermeeren booked

Penalty to Leipzig!

Nusa plays a defence-splitting pass for Openda to run onto. Schulz brings him down with a clumsy challenge inside the box and the referee points to the spot. Schulz was booked for the challenge and Weiner receives a yellow card for his protest.
66'

Off the bar!

Machino maraudes down the left. He plays a cross into Harres, who miscontrols it but Skrzybski picks up the loose ball and lets a shot fly from inside the box, rattling the crossbar.
65'

Triple change for Leipzig

Šeško, Geertruida and Haidara all make room for Silva, Klostermann and Schlager. Marco Rose is proving that, despite his side's extensive injury list, they still have strong squad depth.
62'

Change for Kiel

Holtby comes in for Gigović.
58'

Golden chance for Skrzybski

Kiel win it high up the pitch thanks to Machino. He plays Porath through and Kiel have a two-against-one. The wide man squares it into Skrzybski in the middle, who slides to reach the ball, making contact, but he can't generate enough power to beat Gulácsi. What a chance!
56'

More chances

After a very cagey first half, Kiel are managing to record a few chances now. There certainly feels as if there's another goal in this game.

Strong start to the second half from Kiel

The hosts have flown out the gates this second half. Gulácsi made a real mess of a corner clearance and then Gigović managed to get a shot away on the edge of the box. They've been on the front foot so far this half.
47'

Too high from Porath

Kiel have an early free-kick. It's played quickly to Porath, who swings a cross in from the left, but it's too high for any in the middle and goes behind for a goal-kick.

Half-time: Kiel 0-1 Leipzig

Šeško's goal is all the separates the sides at the end of the first half. Neither side have managed to create many clear-cut chances but Leipzig have been the more clinical of the sides. They've dominated the ball too, but Kiel have looked dangerous at times on the counter-attack. The hosts had a little late flurry at the end of the half, so Marcel Rapp will hope this can continue into the second.

Porath goes close

A chance opens up for Kiel. Porath drives at the heart of the Kiel defence. He beats Seiwald down the left and manages to get a shot away at the near post. Gulácsi manages to tip it behind for a corner, with the subsequent set piece finding only the side-netting.
40'

Šeško opens the scoring!

A fantastic solo effort from Šeško. A quick turn of pace on the half-way line, the striker then beats two Kiel defenders before shooting from the edge of the box. Weiner saves the first attempt but it deflects straight back to Šeško, who makes sure of things the second time.

A long ball over the top searches for Openda. The striker would've got there if not for the bravery of Weiner to come off his line very quickly and punch the danger clear from the edge of the box.

Back to winning ways?

Marco Rose will certainly hope so. His side has slipped from 2nd to 4th in recent weeks and are without a win in their last four games. A trip to an ailing Kiel side might be just what Leipzig need to get themselves back on track, but they should by no means underestimate Marcel Rapp's side.

More on those teams

Marco Rose makes two changes to his side that lost 5-1 at home to Wolfsburg last time out. Seiwald comes in for Lukeba, who isn't selected for today's game. Vermeeren replaces Kampl in the middle of the park, with the latter dropping to the bench. Marcel Rapp's side has seen four changes from their defeat at St. Pauli. Schulz replaces Erras, who is absent today with a concussion. Rosenboom is deployed down the right flank in place of Becker, who isn't selected today. Gigović and Machino also come in for Holtby and Arp, who drop to the bench.

Kiel starting XI:

Weiner (c) - Ivezić, Schulz, Geschwill - Knudsen - Rosenboom, Gigović, Remberg, Porath - Machino, Harres

Kiel subs:

Dähne, Javorček, Skrzybski, Holtby, Kelati, Puchacz, Pichler, Bernhardsson, Arp

Leipzig starting XI:

Gulácsi - Geertruida, Seiwald, Orbán (c), Henrichs - Haidara, Vermeeren - Baumgartner, Nusa - Šeško, Openda

Leipzig subs:

Zingerle, Vandevoordt, Klostermann, Schlager, Sakar, Jatta, Kampl, Gebel, Silva

Marco Rose on facing Kiel

"Kiel are tricky opponents. They're fighting to stay up and won't back down. They were up for it in their most recent game against St. Pauli. It will be a physical and aggressive match, but they are also skilled on the ball."

Marco Rose on Antonio Nusa

"Antonio Nusa is an exceptional player. He's a young lad that I really wanted to sign and he's living up to everything we saw in him." Nusa, along with teammate Assan Ouédraogo, has been chosen by Lionel Messi in a group of ten promising young players to wear the Argentine's newly developed F50 Triunfo Estelar Elite football boots.

Kiel: Erras, Becker ruled out

Rapp will have to do without the services of defensive duo Timo Becker (broken toe) and Patrick Erras (concussion) when Leipzig come calling, but can field either Lasse Rosenboom or Finn Porath for the former and Carl Johansson for the latter. However, the Swede is just over a knee complaint and unlikely to play all 90 minutes.

Marcel Rapp on facing Leipzig

"We need to get basics like running, battling and passion onto the pitch - along with output. We have to work to the limit. If we achieve that, we will take points. If not, then we won't."
