Beck seals the deal!
The substitute has surely won it for Heidenheim. Conteh works it to Zivzivadze on the edge of the box, who takes a touch before shooting with his left. Schwolow parries, but only into the path of the on-rushing Beck, who has plenty of time to pick his spot and finish unchallenged.

The ball drops to the substitute Vertessen on the edge of the Heidenheim box. He unleashes a powerful left-footed shot, but it's high and wide of the mark.

Over from Skov
Union are awarded a free-kick for a tug on Jordan down the left. Skov takes the free-kick, but he overhits it and doesn't find any of his teammates.
58'
Free header!
Schöppner gets on the end of a Wanner cross in the Union box. He's unchallenged and tries to flick the header goalwards, but it travels wide of the post. Some of the Heidenheim players had already started celebrating but it's wide.
56'
Skarke shoots
There's a chance for Union. Hollerbach finds Skarke down the left channel. He cuts inside, shooting low and back across goal with his right foot, but Müller gets down well to save.
55'
No takers
Conteh fires a low cross in from the right. Heidenheim have four men in the box, but none of them make contact with the cross and Union get it away.

Heidenheim look to break
After another Union corner, the hosts break quickly with Conteh leading the charge again. He opts to play it to Krätzig again, but Union recover well to clear.
40'
Wanner takes the free-kick
But the youngster's left-footed effort is well off-target from outside the Union box.
38'
Rothe dismissed!
It's gone from bad to worse for Steffen Baumgart's side. An overhit pass back to Rothe falls to Conteh, who's through on goal. Rothe attempts to recover the mistake for his team, but brings down Conteh, receving a red card for the denial of an obvious goalscoring opportunity as he was the last man back for Union.
36'
Jeong shoots
Dorsch misplaces a pass in midfield and Jeong pounces on the loose ball, before driving forwards and unleashing a shot. His effort flies well over the bar, however.
34'
Heidenheim break
Conteh drives his team up the pitch and Heidenheim find themselves with a man advantage in attack. He looks to find Krätzig on the left, but overhits the pass, sending the wide player to the byline and squandering the opportunity.
33'
Traoré covers
Jordan sends Hollerbach in on goal with a deft flick, who looks to get a shot away if not for Traoré, who steams across to make the challenge, clearing the danger.

Scienza leaves the field
The Heidenheim wide man leaves the field for treatment after taking a knock on the edge of the box. Wanner takes the free-kick, hitting it into the wall to win a corner for his side, but Heidenheim can't make the corner count.
22'
Corner to Heidenheim
The hosts have their tails up now. A corner comes in from the right, finding Mainka at the front post, who flicks it goalwards with a deft touch. Schwolow reacts well to gather the ball.
18'
New man Krätzig opens the scoring!
That was a classic Heidenheim counter-attack and it has to be said it came against the run of play. The ball is worked to Scienza out wide down the right, who tears down the flank before cutting it back to Krätzig on the edge of the box. The Bayern loanee finishes first-time with composure, finding the bottom right corner on his full debut at the club.
16'
Another corner to Union
Trimmel swings in another corner, an in-swinger this time, which falls to an unmarked Skov inside the six-yard box. He has a free header, but doesn't get enough on it and it trickles wide of the post. That was a real chance...
14'
Skov down
Heidenheim's new man Krätzig just catches Skov late in a challenge and the Union man takes a little time getting to his feet. The referee once again opts to take no further action.
12'
Corner to Union
Skov takes an out-swinger from the right. The ball finds an Union head, but it doesn't trouble Müller, who gathers calmly.
9'
Off the bar!
What a save from Müller! Jordan waits on the edge of the six-yard box before receiving a cross from the right. He takes one touch to swivel, before shooting with his left foot on the turn. But his powerful effort from close range is met by an alert Müller, who manages to pull off a fantastic reaction save to tip the ball onto the bar.
7'
On target from Hollerbach
The first shot on target of the game falls to Hollerbach, who takes a snapshot from the edge of the Heidenheim box. Müller gets down well to smother the effort.
6'
Traoré crosses
Dorsch plays it wide to Traoré, who attempts a cross from the right, but Union defend it well.
3'
Mainka down

More on those teams
Baumgart’s first starting XI in charge sees four changes made to the Union team that lost 4-1 away at Bremen in their final game before the winter break. Khedira misses out through suspension, whilst Vertessen, Schäfer and Querfeld drop to the bench. In their places come Haberer, Jeong, Jordan and Kemlein as Baumgart seems to make the switch to a back four. For Heidenheim, Schmidt likewise makes changes to his side that lost 2-0 away at Bochum last time out. Siersleben and Keller drop the bench whilst Honsak misses through injury and Pieringer through suspension. Replacing them are Gimber and Scienza, whilst January newcomers Krätzig and Zivzivadze make their full Bundesliga debuts for the club.

Bochum awarded Union win
On Thursday, the DFB's sports tribunal awarded Bochum a 2-0 win against Union Berlin following the Ruhr club's protest at the result of their Matchday 14 fixture that ended 1-1 following an injury to goalkeeper Patrick Drewes when hit by an object thrown from the crowd. Union have subsequently appealed the ruling, meaning the new result has not been added to the table yet.

Slipping down the table
Union are winless in their last eight, although they have picked up three draws in that time. They sit in 12th at the moment, seven points clear of Heidenheim.
Revival needed
Heidenheim currently sit in 16th, having lost seven consecutive games. Their last point in the league came in October when they drew 0-0 with Hoffenheim.
Third time's a charm?
Union are yet to beat Heidenheim in the Bundesliga. Heidenheim won 1-0 at home last season, while the meeting in Berlin ended 2-2.
Milestone for Heidenheim
Having earned promotion to the top flight for the first time in 2023, this fixture represents Heidenheim's 50th Bundesliga match. It is likewise a landmark occasion for goalkeeper Kevin Müller and defender Patrick Mainka, who have not missed a single game for the club since gaining promotion.
