Full-time: Werder Bremen 1-2 Wolfsburg

Wolfsburg edge out Bremen away from home! They were in front inside the first 10 minutes through Patrick Wimmer, who scored a stunner to double his side's lead after the break. In between the two strikes, though, Bremen had several chances, with Marius Müller keeping his team in front. The hosts did halve the deficit in injury time through Mitchell Weiser, but it proved to be too little, too late.

Wimmer fancies a hat-trick here, but his low strike this time goes well past the post.

Up against it

Bremen have won just one of their past nine games in all competitions - it will now take something special to stop that from becoming one in 10.

Stunner!

Wimmer's first goal may have been fortunate, but his was anything but! A hit from 30 yards beats Zetterer as it flies into the top corner. Brilliant!

Half-time: Werder Bremen 0-1 Wolfsburg

The visitors have a narrow lead at the break! Patrick Wimmer scored the opener from close ranger via his back from Andreas Skov Olsen's corner, although that was the only shot on target they had before the break. Instead, Marius Müller was a wall between the sticks for Wolfsburg, denying the hosts on numerous occasions. André Silva also hit the post, and Bremen will feel they are creating enough to recover after the break.

Müller magic!

There is no getting past the Wolfsburg shot-stopper at the moment! On this occasion, he keeps out Veljković at the back post when it seemed certain the centre-back would tap into the net.

Another stop!

This time, Müller keeps out Weiser's low shot with his feet. The goalkeeper has been Wolfsburg's best player so far.

Brilliant stop!

Ralph Hasenhüttl's view on Bremen

"We're expecting the same Werder, even though they might have some players missing with injuries and illness. They're a team who live from their customary patterns of play. We need to do what we've done well in recent games, being tight at the back. We need to do much better than in the reverse fixture where we were too far apart, especially in the second half. But I feel we defend differently now."
camera-photo

Ole Werner's view on Wolfsburg

"We need to be prepared to fight hard. They have a lot of quality, both individually and as a team. They have progressed as a team since we played them earlier this season and always look for the most direct path to goal. Defence will be key."

Worrying trends

With one win and five points in eight games in 2025, Bremen are bottom of the calendar-year standings. They've also shipped an unwanted league-high 22 goals in that time.

Watch: Wolfsburg 2-4 Bremen - previous meeting

Ralph Hasenhüttl celebrated his debut as Wolfsburg head coach with a win in Bremen last March, but the Austrian was powerless to prevent Werder taking their revenge earlier this season. The good news for Wolves fans is that their team have recorded more Bundesliga wins at the Weser than any other stadium (12, including three in the last four).
