Şahin on the 7-1 win over Celtic

"We must learn to enjoy victories too. A 7-1 win against Celtic in the Champions League must never be seen as normal. It's important that we enjoy it."

Familiar faces

Union's Tom Rothe will be facing BVB for the first time since his summer departure. The left-back made seven appearances for the first team after starring for their academy. Nico Schlotterbeck and Ryerson have also previously played for the hosts.

Svensson's thoughts on Dortmund

“We didn't need to watch the game against Celtic [7-1 win] this week to know that we will face a top opponent tomorrow. They bought great players in the summer and have a lot of quality. We have to focus on our own strengths, look forward to the game and have to bring our very best performance to the pitch.”

More from Şahin on Union

"Now they have a coach whom I have a very high opinion of. You can recognise his handwriting. And there's the stadium, and it's an away match. On the whole, it is an unpleasant opponent that awaits us there."

Nuri Şahin's thoughts on Union

"They have only conceded three goals, which is extraordinary. Last year wasn't so good [for them], but they now have a coach who I have a very high opinion of. An unpleasant opponent is waiting for us."

Four more years

In the build-up to the Union game, Dortmund announced that full-back Julian Ryerson had penned a contract extension that tied the Norway international to the club until summer 2028. "I feel at home here and enjoy every matchday – especially when we're playing at home," the 26-year-old said after agreeing terms on a new deal.

Adeyemi injury blow

Dortmund will have to do without in-form Champions League hero Karim Adeyemi, the Germany international having been forced off in Tuesday's 7-1 win over Celtic with a hamstring injury. His potential replacement in the BVB forward line against Union was perhaps going to be Julien Duranville, but the youngster is now also injured himself.

Adeyemi has been in fantastic form this season and scored a hat-trick in the UEFA Champions League in midweek. Take a look at all of his Bundesliga goal contributions right here.

Tale of the tape

Dortmund have the upper hand in this match-up. They have won six of the previous seven meetings between the two, and all of the last three. Union, meanwhile, have lost on more occasions against BVB than any of team in the Bundesliga.
camera-photo

Century around the corner?

Julian Brandt has won 99 Bundesliga games at Dortmund, meaning three points here would bring up a ton. That would bring Brandt level with club legend Eike Immel

Goals at a premium

In Union's five matches so far this term, there have only been seven goals - a league low. That hasn't stopped Union from amassing eight points, though.

Dortmund's tough travels

BVB have only one point from their first two away games of the season. The last time they failed to win any of their first matches on the road was in 2012.
