Full-time: Augsburg 1-1 Borussia Dortmund

The Függerstädter staged a superb performance powered by a clinical Alexis Claude-Maurice in his first start for the club - to come from behind and beat Dortmund for the first time in four years. A strong team performance from Jess Thorup's men earned a precious - and well-deserved - three points, while for Dortmund, their travails away from home continued, injuries for Anton and Ryerson adding to the bitter result.

Stern lesson for Kabar

USA!

USA U19 international Cole Campbell is brought on for his Dortmund debut, replacing goal-scorer Malen as Şahin looks for added impetus up front in the final minutes.
85'

Ambitious

Kabadayı looks to make an instant impact as he breaks into the box and lashes a shot at the near-post top corner - but his effort goes wide of what was admittedly a pretty small target. But the best form of defence could well be attack at this point...
82'

Ovation for Claude-Maurice

The crowd show their appreciation for the two-goal hero as he comes off in a triple like-for-like change, replaced by Kabadayı while Bauer and Maier come on for Matsima and Onyeka respectively.

Out of nowhere

Playing out of the centre of defence, Bensebaini single-handedly breaks through Augsburg's press and launches Brandt through on goal - but Labrović comes smartly off his line and manages to quell the danger.

Augsburg going for it

Thorup makes a double change, bringing on Koudossou and Essende in a bid to stay energised up front and find a goal to kill off the match.

No penalty

A clash between Keven Schlotterberg and Can in the BVB area prompts a penalty review, but no spot-kick is awarded.

Ryerson forced off

After seemingly tweaking a hamstring, Ryerson can't continue and 18-year-old Kabar comes on to make his Bundesliga debut. Can moves to right-back while Bensebaini slots into the centre of defence. A tough day at the office for Dortmund!
68'

Wolf!

Man of the moment Claude-Maurice skins his man on the left flank and crosses to the far post, where Wolf arrived on the burst only to blaze over.
65'

Too straight-forward

Rexhbecaj fires a powerful free-kick at goal, but it's no trouble for Kobel.
63'

Attacking change

Şahin opts for some fresh legs in attack, bringing Beier on for Nmecha.
62'

Onyeka with a shot

Claude-Maurice leads a nice counter for the home side and it culminates on the edge of the area with a shot from Onyeke, but his effort is right at Kobel.
57'

Signs of life

BVB show that they may be down but they're not out. Groß latches onto a corner in the centre and cracks it on the half-volley - but the ball flies well over the Augsburg goal.

xGoals
The xGoals value of a club is calculated from the sum of all goal probabilities (goals and shots on goal) of that team. During a match, it’s easy to see whether the club is performing better than expected (goals > xGoals) - or maybe even higher (xGoals > goals).
Augsburg have outdone their xGoals by a considerable margin thanks to some spectacularly clinical finishing from the Frenchman.

So close to a third!

Soon after the re-start, Augsburg are on the verge of killing off the match as Onyeka breaks down the right and crosses for Tietz... but the striker is an inch short of poking home what could have been a decisive goal. Augsburg on are on the front foot here!

Claude-Maurice does it again!

After bagging the leveller, Claude-Maurice doubles down, capping the home side's bright start to the second half with a superb curler from the edge of the area that beats Kobel at his far post. Stunning!

Half-time: Augsburg 1-1 Borussia Dortmund

A strong start from the visitors paid dividends as Malen opened the scoring, but Claude-Maurice capitalised on Augsburg's fight-back and levelled it up. It has been hotly contested since then and there's a fair chance of more goal in the second term.

Claude-Maurice levels it up!

In his first start for Augsburg, Frenchman Alexis Claude-Maurice beats Kobel with a low drive from fully 30 metres out. Not the most powerful of shots, but the bobbling effort is deadly accurate and bags the former Nice man his second goal of the season - and his second in as many matches. Game on!

Dortmund calm it down

The visitors have soaked up the Augsburg pressure and are now imposing their passing game once again.
15'

That was close

Claude-Maurice comes close to intercepting a quick pass from Kobel to Nmecha in the Dortmund area. Close call. Otherwise, the home side have not yet shown much danger of scoring.
13'

Onyeka blazes over

Onyeka has a little space in the centre, gets himself into position, takes aim and shoots from around 25 metres out. The ball lands in the stands, though.

Augsburg are now really pushing forward and also running straight at Kobel. The Dortmund keeper doesn't know what else to do in this situation and hits the ball over the left touchline.

Şahin on the front foot

"We simply have to win games away from home," said the BVB boss, whose side have collected just one point in three home games this season. "Otherwise we won't achieve our goals. We're going to go for it and keep ourselves in contention. We're gunning to get the three points, but we have to deliver our performance."

He ain't heavy...

This will be the fourth time that the Schlotterbeck brothers - Augsburg's Keven (27) and BVB's Nico (24), both central defenders - have faced off, but the first time while playing for their current clubs. All three of their previous meetings were between Freiburg and Union Berlin, two teams both brothers have played for, and the head-to-head record between the Schlotterbecks is 2-1 in Nico's favour: a 3-1 league win in 19/20 with Freiburg and a 1-0 league win in 20/21 with Union, with Keven's Union side prevailing 3-1 in the second round of the DFB Pokal in 19/20.

More on those teams

Augsburg boss Jess Thorup makes two changes from the side who fell in Freiburg on Matchday 7, Keven Schlotterbeck and Alexis Claude-Maurice (first time in the starting XI) come in for Bauer and Essende, who are both on the bench. Meanwhile, Dortmund boss Nuri Şahin makes just one change from the side that lost to Real Madrid in mid-week, bringing in Waldemar Anton for the injured Niklas Süle (ankle) in the centre of defence.

"We are at home on Saturday. Our focus is on winning points here. Now is the time to show that we can claim points against top five teams too."

Travel sickness

Neither of these teams likes to be away from home this season. All seven of Augsburg's points have come at home while Dortmund have just one point from three trips in 2024/25, their worst away record at this stage of a season for 13 years.
