Full-time: Gladbach 4-1 Bremen

Much better from Bremen in the second half, but Gladbach demonstrated their game management excellently. The triple change at half-time for the visitors made them come out very quickly after the break. Gladbach managed to survive the early onslaught, before putting the game to bed, courtesy of Stöger getting their fourth of the evening. One of the few bright sparks for Bremen was a debut goal and good performance from debutant Topp, but it was only a consolation. Things went bad to worse with Mitchell Weiser being sent off, and despite ending up having had more shots than the hosts, it never looked as though Gladbach's lead was truly threatened. That's three Bundesliga games in a row The Foals have now won.

Weigl nearly makes it five!

Right at the death, the defensive midfielder receives a cross from the right. He brings it down, and volleys from close range, but the keeper tips it over. That would've been a collectors item.

Topp with a consolation

From a throw-in, Ducksch picks it up from the right and whips a ball in towards Topp, who just manages to stay onside and finishes emphatically at the far post into the top corner. A debut Bundesliga goal for the youngster.

Ducksch goes through

That looked really dangerous from Bremen. The striker was through but Marvin Friedrich made an excellent block against his shot, which he celebrated like a goal. The Gladbach clean sheet stays intact.
67'

Stöger makes it four!

As simple as that! Bremen get punished for their high line. A long ball down the right releases Kleindienst, who crosses into the near post where Stöger was waiting. A third assist for the big man and a goal after four minutes for the substitute, having come on for Pléa. That must be game over.

Acrobatic from Ducksch

Schmid gets to the byline on the right and crosses in towards Ducksch, who attempts a spectacular bicycle kick, but it's well over.

Hack fails to shoot

Pléa combines well with Honorat, before releasing Hack down the left. The midfielder didn't want to shoot with his left and tried to cut it back onto his right, but slipped and lost the ball in the process.
59'

Weiser fouled

The wide-man is brought down by Ullrich on the right of the Gladbach area. It's a promising free-kick. Ducksch takes, whipping it towards the danger area and contact is made meaning Nicolas has to make an excellent reflex save. But there was a foul in the box anyway, so any goal wouldn't have counted.
57'

Ducksch shoots

He picks the ball up on the edge of the Gladbach area. Working the ball onto his right, he lets a curling effort fly which Nicolas just manages to tip round the post with his fingertips. Nothing comes of the subsequent corner though.
56'

End-to-end stuff

Ducksch picks the ball up in the Gladbach box, but loses out before he can shoot. And then Gladbach are immediately up the other end with Kleindienst sprinting down the right. It's definitely more even this half.
55'

Pléa takes

He chips it to the left, before it opens for Ullrich, who fires a cross into Itakura, but his vollied attempt goes over the bar.
54'

Lynen booked

Kleindienst was attacking again and Lynen brings him down outside the box, receiving a yellow card in the process.
53'

Kleindienst goes through!

Gladbach have now had two chances since the early onslaught from Bremen. The visitors are committing men forward, allowing the hosts to break. Pléa plays it through to Kleindienst in the box, but his shot is straight at Zetterer. He's still searching for the goal he deserves this game.
52'

Bremen work it into the box

It's been all Werder since the break. This time Lynen gets his shot away, but it's deflected.
50'

Köhn again

The substitute is causing problems again. He goes on a marauding run from the halfway line, beating at least three Gladbach defenders. He then gives it to Schmid, whose powerful shot Nicolas manages to parry. They've already had more shots this half than they did in the entirety of the first.
47'

Great chance for Köhn

Bremen work it well and have an overlap down the left. Köhn is played through and his shot really tests Nicolas, but the Gladbach keeper is equal to it. A more positive start by Bremen this.

Half-time: Gladbach 3-0 Bremen

What a half for The Foals! The visitors started brightly in the first minute, but ever since it has been all Gladbach. Bremen gave the ball away too easily and too often in their own half and Gladbach punished them, grabbing two goals in very quick succession after twelve minutes. Bremen stabilised somewhat but were still struggling to create chances, and Pléa, Honorat and Kleindienst have run riot. The latter has grabbed two assists and the others a goal each. Bremen will have to hope they can quieten them down in the second half, and produce a comeback akin to that which they managed against Hoffenheim, if they're to get anything from this match.
45'
+ 1

Honorat makes it three!

Bremen commit men forward, after a spell of attacking play. Gladbach win it back and break quickly. Kleindienst gets the ball at the half-way line, turns and plays Honorat through on goal. The Bremen defence can't catch him and he finishes ice-coolly in the bottom left corner past Zetterer.

Corner for Werder

Scally makes a good tackle down the right, deflecting it behind for a corner. Ducksch takes, but it's too close to Nicolas.

Good work from Gladbach down the right. Honorat, Scally and Pléa link up well, waiting for an opening. Pléa puts a ball into the box, but it's too close to Zetterer.
34'

Good overlap from Ullrich

The debutant picks up the ball deep inside his own half and shows his character by driving up the left. He plays a quick one-two with Hack, but Weiser gets back to cover. Positive from the youngster.
32'

Weiser can't find the final ball

A promising looking attack for Bremen breaks down. Weiser breaks between the lines, drives forward and sees Ducksch making a run in behind, but his through ball gets cut out by the Gladbach back line. It's been a little more positive from Bremen in the last few minutes.

Clearance off the line!

Hack's attempted cross from the left wins a corner for Gladbach. Honorat puts it in towards Kleindienst, who is unmarked in the middle. He rises highest but it's blocked off the line! So unlucky for The Foals.
27'

Pressing well

This time Itakura gives away a foul, but everytime Bremen get on the ball, Gladbach are hunting them down in numbers. The visitors are really struggling to beat the press and have barely managed to work it to Ducksch at all so far.
25'

Hack shoots

The theme of the first half; Bremen give it away in their half. Gladbach work it out to Honorat down the right, who cuts it back to Hack on the edge of the box. He unleashes a curled left-footed shot, but Zetterer gathers it.

Pléa stretching

The forward was at full extent to grab his side's opening goal.
23'

Weiser booked

The wide-man receives a yellow card for dissent.
20'

Kleindienst on the volley

Once again, Bremen give the ball away on the edge of their box. It's bouncing and falls to Kleindienst who thumps it goalwards, but it's tipped over by Zetterer. Nothing comes of the corner, although it looked dangerous again. Still too sloppy from Bremen.
19'

Agu booked

That was a tough challenge between Agu and Reitz. Reitz gets there first and Agu just catches him with his studs. No malice, but a yellow card.
14'

After review

Kleindienst's goal, which was deflected, has been taken off him and it goes down as an own goal for Marco Friedl.
13'

Kleindienst gets Gladbach's second!

Bremen give it away again at the back, this time to Hack. He shoots but it's wayward. Honorat keeps it in, feeds it into Kleindienst, who finishes it well from a tight angle into the far corner, taking a deflection on the way. A goal and an assist for him today, and his seventh of the season!
12'

Pléa opens the scoring!

Bremen are the architects of their own demise. Kleindienst pounces on a loose ball at the back before driving forwards and cutting back to Pléa, who finishes over Zetterer.

Another chance for the hosts. The full-back puts a ball in to Hack, who nearly heads it down to Pléa in the box, but Bremen clear again.

Honorat takes...

... and it's cleared behind for another corner. Honorat takes again, deep towards the back post where it's headed back across goal and met by Kleindienst. His header is off target.

Pléa goes through

And now Gladbach are up the other end. Pléa drives into the box but is tacked and it goes behind for a corner.

The visitors have got off to a positive start and are looking very energetic. Ducksch lays it off to Bittencourt, who releases a shot on the edge of the box, but it's over the bar.

An opportunity to leapfrog

Just two points separate these sides in the Bundesliga standings. A win for The Foals would take them above Bremen in ninth. In turn, a victory for the visitors would take them above Union and into seventh.
