Damage limitation

The problem for Bo Svensson's men is that Bayern are hungry for more goals, with the hosts continuing to surge forward at every opportunity. Union boasted the Bundesliga's second-best defence prior to this game and they won't want to ship any more goals at the Allianz Arena.

Half-time: Bayern 2-0 Union

The Bundesliga leaders are looking comfortable against a Union side who will need to lift their attacking game after the break. Harry Kane's spot-kick put the hosts ahead while Kingsley Coman's tidy second gave Vincent Kompany's team breathing space.

Daylight for Bayern

Kingsley Coman scores for a third Bundesliga game in a row, and nets his 67th career goal for the hosts following a flowing Bayern move. Davies worked space on the left and fed Kane, whose prodded through-pass found Coman in on goal. The Frenchman subsequently lifted a sublime finish over the Union goalkeeper for 2-0.

Positive news in defence

Bayern ended their DFB Cup win over Mainz with midfielders Leon Goretzka and Konrad Laimer at centre-half, but Kompany is hopeful that Dayot Upamecano (pictured) will be fit enough to start against Union. "It's looking good for both of them," said Kompany of the Frenchman and his English counterpart Eric Dier, who came off injured against Mainz. "I hope that everyone will be fit, but if not I have a great deal of confidence in the other boys."
camera-photo

Kompany on Union

"They've done very well so far, they're near the top. We're absolutely not underestimating them. As ever, it very much comes down to us... hopefully our strengths will make the difference tomorrow. We know they're good in defence and on the counter. They have good communication and know their jobs."
camera-photo

Bo Svensson's view on Bayern Munich

"I told the team this morning that Bayern Munich are in a different league. They were much better than us. They're not the sort of opponents against whom we're expected to get a win. But we still have to be better and we can also turn in better performances."
