Arijon Ibrahimović joins Augsburg on season-long loan from Bayern Munich
Germany U21 international attacker Arijon Ibrahimović is joining Augsburg from Bayern Munich for the rest of the 2026/27 campaign on a season-long loan.
The Nuremberg native has developed in the Bayern youth ranks since 2018 and so far made four appearances for the reigning champions in the Bundesliga (twice), UEFA Champions League and DFB Cup since his senior debut in 2023.
The attacker showed he can make an impact on the Bundesliga with two goals and four assists across 32 games on loan at Heidenheim last season. This deal includes an option to buy for Augsburg.
"We sat down with Arijon and agreed that it's best for his development to have another season out on loan. He's a young player with great ability who needs regular playing time in this phase. He'll get that at Augsburg," said Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund.
Augsburg sporting director Benjamin Weber said, "We are delighted that Arijon has chosen Augsburg. He is a young player who has already demonstrated his qualities in the Bundesliga and can be deployed in several attacking positions. His physicality and unwavering determination are a perfect fit for us and the style of football we want to play at Augsburg."
Ibrahimović, who has two caps for Germany U21, added: "The new challenge in Augsburg really appeals to me because Augsburg are an ambitious Bundesliga club. I also want to develop further and gain a lot of playing experience. Therefore, I want to integrate into the team as quickly as possible and contribute to a successful season."
The versatile attacker, who previously also had loan spells at Frosinone and Lazio in Italy, will join Augsburg as they look to build on a successful start to the season that saw them beat newly promoted Schalke 3-0.
Manuel Baum's side visit Eintracht Frankfurt on Matchday 2 this Sunday (kick-off: 5.30pm CEST).
