The hosts' pressure paid off in the 20th minute when Goretzka broke the deadlock with a stunning long-range effort. Wolfsburg's resilience shone through though, as Amoura equalised just four minutes later with the visitors' first shot on target. The see-saw battle continued as Bayern regained the lead in the 39th minute through Olise and thought they had ended the first half perfectly, but Joshua Kimmich had a goal disallowed for handball in the fourth minute of stoppage time.

Goretzka seals the deal but Wolfsburg fight to the end

The second half saw Bayern extend their lead in the 62nd minute, with Goretzka heading home from Michael Olise's pinpoint free-kick delivery. This goal appeared to put the game beyond Wolfsburg's reach, as Bayern continued to dominate possession and create chances. Kingsley Coman squandered a golden opportunity to make it 4-1 in the 70th minute, keeping Wolfsburg's hopes alive The visitors capitalised on their lifeline, with Amoura scoring his second of the match in the 88th minute to set up a tense finale. Despite a late push from Wolfsburg, Bayern held on to secure a hard-fought 3-2 victory, maintaining their position at the top of the Bundesliga table.
