Kane's clinical finish marked his ninth Bundesliga goal of the season. Bayern coach Vincent Kompany then made a triple substitution, bringing on Thomas Müller, Leroy Sané, and Bochum-born Leon Goretzka. The change paid immediate dividends as Sané, just four minutes after coming on, scored a stunning fourth with a curling effort from the edge of the box. Kingsley Coman then put the icing on the cake with a spectacular hit in the 71st minute, his shot from 23.67 meters clipping the underside of the crossbar on its way in. Bochum, despite their early promise, were thoroughly outclassed and unable to muster a response to Bayern's onslaught.
