Elversberg sign American winger Cole Campbell from Borussia Dortmund
Bundesliga newcomers Elversberg have strengthened their attack ahead of the 2026/27 campaign, signing 20-year-old winger Cole Campbell from Borussia Dortmund, who has penned a contract running until summer 2030.
The American starlet arrives at Elversberg with 10 Bundesliga appearances to his name, a figure he'll be keen to build on as his new side embark on a first ever appearance in Germany's top flight.
Campbell made his league debut in the 2024/25 campaign for Dortmund, coming on as a late substitute for Donyell Malen in a 2-1 loss away to Augsburg. He went onto make three more Bundesliga appearances that season and then just one in the first half of 2025/26, before heading out loan to Hoffenheim.
Elversberg sporting director Christian Weber said: "In Cole, we've signed another highly talented player who will be a huge asset to us with his exceptional pace and one-on-one skills. We've been pursuing him for quite some time and are delighted that he's chosen to join us."
Campbell said: "I have the feeling that I'm joining an exciting team with a lot of potential, where I can make a valuable contribution. That's why I'm sure this move to Elversberg is exactly the right one."
He made five appearances for Christian Ilzer's side as they charged into the European places, but will now look to pastures new for more regular game time.
Born in Houston, Texas, Campbell is a United States U23 international and has three caps at that level.
