Bundesliga postpone Eintracht Frankfurt vs. Mainz fixture to support Eagles’ UEFA Europa League campaign
The Deutsche Fußball Liga (DFL) have announced that Eintracht Frankfurt’s home fixture against Mainz on Matchday 33 has been postponed by one day to support the Eagles’ ongoing UEFA Europa League campaign.
Adi Hütter’s Frankfurt team have stunned the Europa League competition and reached the semi-final stage where they will face English Premier League side Chelsea. The first leg will be played on 2 May, and the second leg on 9 May.
Frankfurt were due to face Mainz on Saturday, 11 May, as part of the Bundesliga’s traditional schedule which sees the final two rounds of fixtures in each season played at the same time, with every match kicking off at 15:30 CET on the Saturday.

The match will now be played on Sunday, 12 May, at 18:00 CET to allow Eintracht time to recover from their Europa League trip before returning to Bundesliga action.
The Eagles will already play their away match against Bayer Leverkusen on Matchday 32 - the weekend before their second leg with Chelsea - on Sunday, 5 May.
The stunning European campaign all started when Frankfurt beat Bayern Munich in the 2017/18 DFB Cup final in May last year. This qualified them for the Europa League group stages, in which they dominated Olympique Marseille, Lazio and Apollon Nicosia and won every match to top Group H.
Knockout wins over Shakhtar Donetsk, Inter Milan and Benfica have followed to set-up a semi-final with Chelsea, the first in 39 years for Eintracht.
The Europa League final will take place on 29 May, in Baku, Azerbaijan, eleven days after the end of the Bundesliga season.
