Harry Kane's England into UEFA Euro 2024 final with Netherlands win
Harry Kane scored his third UEFA Euro 2024 goal as England booked their place in the final with a last-gasp win over the Netherlands.
Netherlands 1-2 England
Goals: 1-1 Xavi 7’, 1-1 Kane (pen. 18’), 1-2 Watkins 90'+1 (assist: Palmer)
After Dani Olmo's match-winning performance for Spain against France, Xavi took centre stage in Dortmund. The Dutchman, who so impressed on loan in the same RB Leipzig team as Olmo in 2023/24, collected possession 20 yards from goal before unleashing an absolute thunderbolt to put the Oranje ahead. England responded in kind as Bayern Munich's Kane won and coverted a penalty following a VAR review for a high boot against Denzel Dumfries. Dumfries then cleared off the line from Phil Foden, shortly before crashing a header off the top of Jordan Pickford's crossbar. Pickford beat away a Virgil van Dijk header in the first meaningful chance of the second half, while Bukayo Saka had a possible winner ruled out for an offside in the build-up. England were not to be denied, though, with substitute Ollie Watkins finishing brilliantly to book the 2020 runners-up place in the final.
