Wolfsburg deliver five-star performance in Leipzig
Wolfsburg secured a resounding 5-1 victory over RB Leipzig, with Mohamed Amoura scoring twice at the Red Bull Arena.

Wolfsburg arrived at the Red Bull Arena looking to extend their four-game unbeaten run in the Bundesliga, while Leipzig aimed to bounce back from three league games without a win. The visitors, under former Leipzig head coach Ralph Hasenhüttl, had shown improved performances lately, having picked up eight points in their last four matches. In contrast, Leipzig had slipped eight points behind league leaders Bayern Munich after their recent poor form. Marco Rose's side entered the match hoping to secure his 100th Bundesliga win as Leipzig coach, but faced a Wolfsburg team growing in confidence and running an average of five kilometres more per match in their last two games.
Wolfsburg's explosive start
Wolfsburg stunned the home crowd with an explosive start. Amoura opened the scoring in the fourth minute, poking home a cross from Ridle Baku. Before Leipzig could recover, Tiago Tomás doubled the lead just a minute later with a deflected long-range effort. The relentless visitors weren't done though, as Amoura struck again in the 16th minute, firing through Péter Gulácsi's legs to make it 3-0. Leipzig, shell-shocked, struggled to respond to Wolfsburg's clinical attacking display.
Leipzig's uphill battle
As the first half progressed, Leipzig tried to find a way back into the match. Rose had to make an early substitution however, bringing on Nicolas Seiwald for the injured Castello Lukeba in the 30th minute. Despite having more possession, Leipzig struggled to create clear-cut chances against a well-organised Wolfsburg defense. The visitors, meanwhile, continued to look dangerous on the counter-attack, with Amoura and Tomás causing constant problems for the Leipzig backline.
Wolfsburg seal the victory
Any hopes of a Leipzig comeback were dashed in the 64th minute when Joakim Mæhle added a fourth for Wolfsburg, heading home from close range following a corner. Leipzig managed to pull one back through Willi Orbán in the 82nd minute, but it was merely a consolation. Wolfsburg made several substitutions to maintain their control, bringing on Yannick Gerhardt, Lukas Nmecha, and Mattias Svanberg. The visitors put the final nail in the coffin when substitute Kevin Behrens scored in stoppage time, assisted by fellow substitute Svanberg, sealing an emphatic 5-1 victory.
Player of the Match: Mohamed Amoura
Amoura was the standout performer in Wolfsburg's dominant display. The Algerian forward scored twice in the first 16 minutes, setting the tone for his team's victory. His pace and clinical finishing caused constant problems for the Leipzig defence throughout the match. Amoura's first goal showcased his predatory instincts, while his second demonstrated his composure under pressure. Beyond his goals, Amoura's tireless running and link-up play were crucial to Wolfsburg's attacking threat. He had a total of four shots, with two finding the back of the net, making him a deserving Player of the Match.
