Beste scores!
What a massive goal in the context of the promotion race. Kleindienst wins a bouncing ball in the Darmstadt half. It's helped on to Beste, who keeps his cool to finish past Schuhen.

Positive change
Stojilkovic, who scored the equalising goal against HSV last week, replaces the subdued Honsak. Englishman Keanan Bennetts is also on for the visitors, who could used a spark in the final third.

Schnell-HARD!
Lovely one-touch stuff from Darmstadt ends with Schnellhardt rifling just past the upright from 20 yards.

Double change
Fresh legs in the Heidenheim engine room. They'll need to keep energy levels on max, if they're to get a result against this dogged Darmstadt team.

What a chance!
Föhrenbach finds the head of Schöppner, who's denied by a superb Schuhen save.

As you were
No changes following a very competitive first half.

Goalless at the break
Darmstadt have had the ball in the net, but there's been little between the two sides at the Voith-Arena.

Speculative
Schimmer tries to catch Schuhen out with a shot from halfway, but he doesn't catch it cleanly. Defences very much on top at the Voith-Arena.
33'
Thomalla injured
The Heidenheim man was off the pitch when Tietz headed home. He's pulled something in his right leg and won't return today. Schimmer's on in his stead.

Disallowed goal!
Heidenheim play themselves into danger in their own half. The cross comes over from the left, but Tietz had strayed offside before heading in.

Not his Best(e) effort
Jan-Niklas Beste from distance, but that doesn't trouble Schuhen. Pretty wayward.

Off the bar!
Heidenheim have been growing into the contest, and very nearly take the lead! Schuhen punches a free-kick only as far as Mainka, who directs a close-range header against the crossbar.

Like the home side
Darmstadt have made a really confident start. No wonder they haven't lost since Matchday 1...

What an effort!
Heidenheim concede possession in their own half. Tietz controls on his chest and, spotting Müller off his line, sends a dipping volley towards goal. The keeper back pedals to tip it behind, though.

Atmosphere brewing!
The Voith-Arena has a capacity of 15,000, but the place sounds like there are three times as many fans in attendance. There's no second tier quite like Bundesliga 2!
Table talk
Hamburg consolidated second place with a 3-0 win over Nuremberg earlier today. They're now just a point behind leaders Darmstadt and five clear of third-in-the-table Heidenheim, albeit having played a game more. Paderborn's 3-1 loss at St. Pauli, meanwhile, has given Schmidt's team a four-point cushion over the chasing pack.
More on those teams
Schmidt makes one change to the Heidenheim team that beat Bielefeld, with Föhrenbach preferred to Theuerkauf at left-back. Darmstadt are unchanged from the 1-1 draw with HSV.

Expect "high intensity"
Visiting coach Lieberknecht pointed out the level his team will need to be at for what promises to be am enthralling Bundesliga 2 battle. "It's not only a top game from our point of view, but also from Heidenheim's," he said. [Our opponents] act as a team; everyone is there for everyone, as is the case with us. They play with high intensity. We need the same attitude, intensity and willingness as we showed against HSV [last weekend]."
