Huge win for HSV!
They've done it! What a superb game that was. HSV take the Hamburg city bragging rights against the rivals, but more importantly they take all three points against a direct promotion rival to keep their top-flight push on course!

Goal record
The last time there were seven goals in a Hamburg city derby was back in 2001. The most recent occasion when there were eight goals in this fixture was back in 1958, when Bundesliga legend Uwe Seeler hit a hat-trick in an 8-0 victory for HSV.

Another supersub?
Saad came off the bench to score his first goal for the club a few minutes ago. Can Otto have a similar impact for the visitors?

What is going on?!?
Just when it looked like Pauli were out of it, they're right back in the mix! A corner from the right is met by Irvine on the edge of the six-yard box and he guides a brilliant header into the corner!
78'
Surely that settles it?!?!
Unfortunate for the Pauli defender as he slides in to try and clear a low cross from the right, with Königsdörffer lurking right behind him, but he prods the ball into his own net!
75'
So close from Smith!
The defender has plenty of time to set himself as he shoots but his volley flies wide of the target!
71'
Game on!
Well, well, well! Pauli score with their seventh shot of this half (HSV haven't had any!) Saad scampers clear down the left - beating the offside trap - and coolly slots the ball in at the near post!

Substitutes go close!
Saad drives forward down the left but his attempted curler to the back post is blocked. The rebound falls at the feet of Metcalfe, arriving on the edge of the HSV box, and his first-time left-footed shot curls narrowly wide of the far post.

All change
Needing two goals and some fresh impetus to change the mood, Pauli bring on Metcalfe and Saad, with Afolayan and Aremu making way.

Decisive goals
As a promotion six-pointer, this spell from Hamburg could be crucial. Pauli could have (and still could) move to withing three points of HSV with a win, but as things stand the hosts are on 56 points, with Pauli down on 47 - seven points behind Heidenheim in the promotion play-off spot.

What a comeback!
Having been 1-0 down with just a minute to go before half-time, HSV are now 3-1 up! Glatzel's header is well saved by Vasilj but Heyer is first to the rebound, prodding in from about eight yards out.

Turnaround!
It's the perfect start for HSV! A diagonal cross into the box from the left is left by three Pauli defenders, giving Jatta room to pounce from close range at the back post!

Under way again
HSV get the ball rolling in the second half, with just one change during the break as Dompe is replaced by Königsdörffer for the hosts.

Proper derby
It’s been a blink-and-you-miss-it game so far, with both teams flooding forward at every opportunity. Pauli took the lead through Saliakis’ well-taken opener, but will David’s thunderbolt of an equaliser swing momentum HSV’s way?

What a goal!
There appeared to be little danger as HSV probed around the edge of a packed Pauli penalty area. The ball is played to Jonas David about 10 yards outside the box, right of centre. He takes a touch and then smashes an unstoppable drive into the top corner. Sensational stuff!

Unfamiliar feeling for HSV
Hamburg are behind in a home game for the first time in over five months. The last time that happened was in November 2022 against Regensburg - but HSV went on to win that one 3-1.

Vital interception
Mets slides in to hook the ball clear, just as Jatta looked like he was about to get there ahead of goalkeeper Vasilj.

Nice from Jatta

Pauli must lead!
An unbelievable cross from Paqarada on the left, right in the space between the defence and the goalkeeper. It comes to the unmarked Daschner on the edge of the six-yard box, but somehow he gets his feet in a muddle and can't connect properly! That should have been the opening goal!
18'
Goal disallowed
Afolayan has the ball in the net following a brilliant solo run but it won't count!
17'
Kittel again!
Kittel charges into the Pauli box on the right and drills a low shot towards the far post. For a moment it looks like it's going in but it fizzes just wide!
16'
Kittel causing havoc
The HSV winger makes mischief down the right and crosses into the middle, looking for Kittel. Goalkeeper Vasilj and a defender get in each other's way but the visitors manage to scramble clear!

So close from Afolayan!
The Pauli attacker skips into the right-hand side of the HSV box, cuts inside Muheim and gets a shot away. It deflects of Schonlau and narrowly whizzes the wrong side of the post, nestling into the side netting. The clearest chance of the game so far!

100 up for Glatzel
The HSV forward's shot just now was his 100th attempt at goal this season - more than anyone else. He's scored 17 of those. Bundesliga 2's 21-goal top scorer Tim Kleindienst is next in the shot charts with 86.
8'
Pauli's first attempt
The away side get forward with purpose for the first time. Paqarada finds space on the left and spies Hartel inside the box. The attacker turns and gets a shot away but lacks the necessary accuracy to go in at the near post.
4'
Glatzel has a go
HSV's pressing forces Pauli to lose possession just outside their own penalty area. The ball comes to Glatzel on his left foot but his powerfully struck shot is straight at Vasilj in the visiting goal.
3'
Bright start
It's the hosts on the front foot early on. Dompe delivers an inviting low ball into the box from the left but the onrushing Kittel can't quite control it and the chance goes begging.

Attack-minded Hamburg

Table talk
Hamburg are third after 28 matches, in the promotion play-off spot. They're a point behind Heidenhem in second, but five adrift of leaders Darmstadt. Pauli are six behind HSV in fifth, and will blow the promotion race wide open with a win.
Welcome!
