Four Minutes of Injury Time
There will be another four minutes added on.
88'
Hannover defending with composure
Regensburg is eager to score at least a consolation goal. However, Hannover is playing it cool and looks assured in defence.
85'
First booking of the match
In a very fair encounter, Christiansen has now picked up a yellow card. The Hannover player brings down his opponent Ernst in midfield and is booked for it.
79'
Hannover in full control
There is not much Regensburg resistance left, so the now somewhat more defensive Hannover side are currently able to manage their lead without problems.
75'
The sub strikes almost immediately
After a free kick, the ball is deflected to substitute Ngankam, who spins around his own axis at the penalty spot and shoots. But Breunig is there, throws himself in between and deflects it for a corner, which comes to nothing.

With force against the crossbar!
Ernst clears a cross right into the feet of Muroya, whose first-time shot from 18 metres hits the bottom edge of the crossbar and bounces back into play. Tresoldi then tries an overhead kick which goes wide of the right post.

Fresh legs for the attack
Enochs brings on two new players and signals to his team to give everything once more in an attempt to salvage a point.

Just over
Another attempt from the guests. Pröger with a great cross from the right side to the penalty spot, where Ganaus rises perfectly and directs the ball towards goal. However, it goes just a few centimetres over the crossbar.
60'
Attempt from distance
There is too little happening in terms of chance creation, so Kother tries it from some distance. His attempt from the left side from about twenty metres, however, goes a good distance wide of the opponent's goal. Zieler thus does not have to intervene.
57'
The captain comes off
After barely an hour Enochs takes Geipl off the pitch, without any apparent injury or other reason. Bulic comes on and takes the armband.
55'
Off target
On the other side, former Hannover player Ernst gets a shot on goal from the left side, but only hits the outside of the net. Nevertheless, Regensburg is making its presence felt in the second half.
52'
Kunze blocks his own man!
Hannover pose danger again and combine to set Muroya free on the edge of the box. His shot could have been dangerous, but is blocked by his own man in the six-yard box.
49'
Grateful ball for Gebhardt
Muroya makes his way down the right wing and puts in a high cross to the far post. There, Dehm takes the ball down with his instep but steers it straight into the arms of the opposing keeper.
47'
Hannover is right back at it!
What a chance! Dehm brings the ball from the left half-space into the six-yard box, where Nielsen tries an overhead kick. Gebhardt is down low but can only parry it forward. So Nielsen gets another shot, but is denied again by the Regensburg keeper. That was almost 3-0 right away.

Play resumes
Both teams start the second half without making any substitutions.

Half Time in Hannover
The Lower Saxons have started the match against the promoted side much better, are always one step quicker to the ball and deservedly lead 2-0 after goals from Tresoldi and Dehm. Towards the end of the first half though, Regensburg had become more active, have had some chances of their own and are still very much in this game. The second half promises to remain exciting.

There are two extra minutes
Injury time is running. Will something still happen here? Ganaus tests Zieler from a tight angle, but he has everything under control.
45'
Misunderstanding at SSV
After a long ball from Hannover, Ballas wants to head the ball back to his goalkeeper, but the pass is far too short. The lurking Tresoldi almost gets to the ball, but Gebhardt can just about make up for his teammate's mistake and gets there before the striker.
43'
Regensburg's best phase
Halstenberg blocks a shot attempt from Ganaus at the edge of the box. The ball goes to the right corner of the penalty area, where Saller plucks up the courage and has a go. The shot whistles past the left post.

Zieler makes great save
Here is the first really good chance for the promoted side. Halstenberg with an insufficient headed clearance in the penalty area goes straight to the foot of Pröger, who shoots quickly. His deflected shot is reacted to brilliantly by Hannover's keeper who deflects the ball with one hand around the post. The resulting corner does not cause any danger.

No penalty for Hannover
Tresoldi plays it to Nielsen in the box, who goes to ground in a challenge with Geipl and appeals for a penalty. He doesn't get it, but Hannover's player stays down and now also needs treatment.
30'
What a strike!
Halstenberg is not closed down in the middle and therefore just has a crack from 25 yards. The fierce shot whistles just a few centimetres over the left post!
26'
Dangerous again
Regensburg is under pressure. Muroya puts in a cross from the right side and Ballas heads the ball over his own crossbar before the lurking Tresoldi can intervene.
23'
Hannover adds another!
That was far too easy. Neumann is left completely unmarked as he goes down the right side, takes it to the byline and puts in a low cross to the front of goal. Tresoldi and defender Saller both miss the sharp ball in, but Dehm had made a run to the far post and hammers the ball into the top of the net to make it 2-0.
20'
No ideas for Regensburg
The promoted side is still having problems with the pace of the game and the very alert looking Hannover players. In many situations, the home side is one step quicker and allows opportunity for the visitors to gain control.
17'
Tresoldi starts quickly again
Just like the previous season, Hannover's Tresoldi was among the first goalscorers of the new season and also scored against a promoted team back then. Then, he scored the final goal in the 2-2 draw against SV Elversberg.
14'
First reaction from SSV
Ganaus plays the ball on the right side into the path of Pröger. However, Zieler read that, comes out of his goal and gets to the ball first.
11'
The lead for the 96ers!
And there it is! After a pass from Muroya outside the penalty area, Tresoldi passes to Nielsen on the right had side of the area, runs through, gets the ball back and confidently pushes home from eleven metres to make it 1-0 for Hannover. Superbly played!
9'
Well watched
Neumann plays a long ball into space on the right side. But Ballas has kept a close eye, moves out from the centre-back position and runs the ball down well.
7'
Hannover edging closer
The home side are setting the pace a little in the opening stages, but are primarily passing the ball around at the back and looking for gaps in their opponent's defence.
4'
First chance for the visitors
After a corner kick from the right side, Breunig rises highest at the penalty spot and heads the ball towards goal. However, the shot goes straight at Zieler who catches it comfortably in the middle of the goal.
2'
Poor condition of the pitch
The playing surface immediately catches the eye. After the Hamburg Sea Devils (American football) played a guest appearance here last week, the grass presents itself in poor condition. In addition, the markings of the American football field are still visible. Let's see which team will cope better with the aggravated conditions.
1'
Kick-off
The ball is rolling in Hannover and the home side in red have kicked off. Regensburg are in dark green shirts.

Saller remains
The 31-year-old defender is the only player for the guests who was still on the pitch from the start in their last Bundesliga 2 match in 2023. Back then, Regensburg lost 2-3 to 1. FC Heidenheim in injury time, allowing Frank Schmidt's team to celebrate promotion to the Bundesliga.
A player in focus at SSV
The promoted team from Regensburg also starts with two new signings, Kai Pröger and Sebastian Ernst. The latter has spent the majority of his career at today's opponent, playing for the 96ers between 2006 and 2015 as well as from 2021 to 2024, for whom he played 63 of his 182 matches in the Bundesliga 2. Today is his competitive debut for his new club.
Two new signings for the Lower Saxons
Hannover 96 have largely kept the core of last season's squad together and line up with just three changes from the 34th matchday (1-2 against Holstein Kiel). Havard Nielsen is fit again, while new signings Josh Knight and Jannik Rochelt both start.

Can Regensburg start strongly?
The visitors will start their season away from home as they look to get off to a good start following last season's promotion. Hannover will provide tough opposition, however, as they look to win promotion themselves this season.
