A surprise, a returnee

Fabian Schleusener is in Karlsruhe's starting XI for the first time in the 2024 calendar year. The last time he started was at the beginning of December 2023 in a 2-2 home draw against Hansa Rostock. Leon Jensen missed the last four games of the 2023/24 season due to surgery on his eardrum; now the 27-year-old Karlsruhe midfielder is back.

New quartet for Klose

New manager Miroslav Klose starts four new signings in his first Bundesliga 2 match: Robin Knoche (Union Berlin), Danilo Soares (VfL Bochum), Florian Pick (1. FC Heidenheim) and Caspar Jander (MSV Duisburg) are in the starting eleven.

KSC replaces three departures

KSC have only one new signing in the starting XI today and three changes to the last match of the 2023/24 season overall (3:0 win at Elversberg); Lasse Günther (on loan from FC Augsburg), Leon Jensen and Fabian Schleusener are playing instead of the departed Philip Heise (Dynamo Dresden), Paul Nebel (1. FSV Mainz 05) and Igor Matanovic (Eintracht Frankfurt).

This is how Nuremberg line up

Reichert - Hofmann, Jeltsch, Knoche (c), Soares, Flick, Castrop, Okunuki, Jander, Pick, Schleimer

This is how KSC line up

Weiß - Jung, Franke, Beifus, Günther, Rapp, Jensen, Burnić, Wanitzek (c), Schleusener, Zivzivadze
