SV Elversberg secure a well-deserved victory against the league leaders, who compounded their poor away record despite scoring a late consolation goal. With a goal just before and shortly after half-time, Elversberg converted their dominance into tangible results and decided the match early on. Tresoldi struck the post with a header in the second half before finishing to get his team on the scoreboard, but Hannover come away from the trip to the Saarland empty-handed. In contrast, SVE impressed with 23 attempts on goal.

There have been more substitutions as the match starts to wind down a bit. Hannover have only won once away and drawn another, placing them 16th in the away table. On the other hand, they sit undefeated at the top of the home table, with Elversberg in second place.

With just ten minutes left in normal time, Hannover would need something of a football miracle if anything is to happen here.

It's been a few minutes since the last shot on goal. Elversberg are increasingly allowing the visitors to have possession of the ball.

Muhammed Damar made four appearances Hannover in the Bundesliga 2 last season - he has just scored his 3rd goal of the season against his former club.

The sides are back out as the second half commences.

Elversberg have a deserved 2-0 lead against the current league leaders, who didn't manage a single dangerous shot on goal and only occasionally showed good spells of possession. They have also not been as solid at the back as you need to be against this agile Elversberg side.

The third minute of stoppage time is underway. A lengthy injury break has meant a fair chunk of added time.

The game is currently taking place almost exclusively outside of either penalty area.

The last few minutes have seen 96 with all the ball. However, the visitors are yet to register a shot on goal in the match.

Rochelt, who was fouled earlier, is substituted. He is replaced by Monju Momuluh, who made a good cameo appearance off the bench last week against Karlsruhe.

Hannover have had most of the possession in the last few minutes, but they haven't been able to create any chances from it. Phil Neumann at least manages to win a free kick from the half-right position.

The yellow card against Zieler, who clearly played the ball first, has also been chalked off.

After reviewing the footage, the refereeing team reverses the decision. There will be no spot-kick.

Kunze was far too late in his challenge against the advanced Lukas Pinckert, and picks up a yellow card. Elversberg's defender receives treatment but can continue. Next to come is the free-kick.

Baum's shot for the lead recorded a speed of 124 km/h - the second fastest goal in the Bundesliga 2 so far this season.

The home team is controlling the game in the opening minutes, combining well around the opposition penalty area. Zimmerschied eventually crosses from the left byline but hits the side netting.

The away fans display an impressive tifo in honour of their former player Robert Enke. Today marks the 15th anniversary of Enke's death.

Compared to the 2-1 victory against KSC, Stefan Leitl makes two changes to his starting lineup: Ngankam and Tresoldi start in place of Nielsen and Voglsammer, who had formed the strike partnership in Hannover's 4-4-2 system in recent matches. Nicolo Tresoldi scored three of his team's four goals against Elversberg last season (both matches ended 2-2).

Horst Steffen makes two changes to his team today: Feil and Zimmerschied start in place of Petkov and Schnellbacher. Tom Zimmerschied, who joined from Dynamo Dresden this summer, is making his first league start for his new side, while Luca Schnellbacher is missing from the starting lineup for the first time this season.

Jannik Rochelt transferred from Elversberg to Hannover in the summer of 2024 while Muhammed Damar played for Hannover in the 2023/24 season.

There was only one other competitive match between the two clubs. In 2010, then fourth-tier Elversberg knocked Bundesliga side Hannover out of the DFB-Pokal. After 120 minutes, the score was 0-0. In the subsequent penalty shootout, Hannover's Mikael Forssell was the only player to miss.

The return fixture also ended 2-2, with Tresoldi scoring a brace. Tresoldi hasn't scored as many goals against any other team in Bundesliga 2.

The first match between these sides in 2023/24 in Hannover represented Elversberg's Bundesliga 2 debut. They took a 2-0 lead through goals from Marcel Correia and Wahid Faghir. However, Hannover fought back and earned a draw with goals from Cedric Teuchert and Nicoló Tresoldi.
