A whisker away
There was nearly another twist in this game! Muheim delivers a strong, low cross in from the left. Selke comes flying in to try and get a toe on it - but he just misses the ball by a matter of inches.
90'
Another setback
Hamburg are facing their fifth consecutive match without a win. Tonight's hosts have usually seen their campaign fall apart in the second half of the season, but they are now already in a bit of a crisis under Baumgart in the first half of the season.
89'
Poor record
If it stays a draw, HSV will be on 20 points, which is the lowest tally they've ever had after 13 matchdays in a Bundesliga 2 season (equalling their record from 2021/22).
87'
Straight at the keeper
Hamburg squander a golden opportunity. Miro Muheim makes a good run down the left and passes low across the box. Hefti is completely free, and shoots with his left foot - but it's straight into the hands of Heekeren. They should have made more of that chance.
86'
Red card for Loboué
The Schalke goalkeeper coach throws the ball back onto the field - and sees red for it.
86'
Squandered 2-0 lead
In a home match in the second division, Hamburg have never dropped points in the Bundesliga 2 when they had a two-goal lead at home. However, this record could be about to be broken under Baumgart.
85'
Younes stopped
Bachmann plays a low through ball to Younes in the penalty area, but Poręba slides in and stops the Schalke player.
83'
Yellow card for Grüger
He is cautioned for a foul on Miro Muheim on the halfway line.
82'
Clean sheet streak well and truly over
Hamburg has conceded goals in each of their last five matches. This includes ten goals in their four most recent matches.
78'
Comeback almost complete
Schalke continues to push forward - and nearly makes it 3-2. Bachmann plays it to the free-standing Karaman on the left, who dribbles forward before taking a shot. He tries to slot it into the bottom-right corner but it goes just wide.
78'
Karaman's sharp shooting
Kenan Karaman has now scored seven goals this season - only three players in the league have found the net more often.

All square!
Schalke get their reward for a strong second-half showing. Bachmann is played down the line, and he sends a low cross into the middle. Karaman sticks out a foot and slots it in from six yards out to make it 2-2.

The Richter show
Richter has taken six of Hamburg's twelve shots on goal, while the other Hamburg attacking players haven't registered anything up top recently. The opening goalscorer, exhausted as he is, has now been subbed off.

Close!
Richter nearly makes it 3-1. However, his right-footed shot goes just wide of the top-right corner.

Good shot
Murkin drives through on the left-hand side, and isn't challenged by a Hamburg defender. He lets fly from 25 metres, but it whizzes just wide of the left post.
66'
Schalke applying the pressure
The Royal Blues have tasted blood and want more. Hamburg are focusing on their defence for now, as Schalke are applying pressure.
63'
No goal
Sylla wheels away in celebration, but the goal doesn't count. Schalke cross in from a corner on the right, and the ball is flicked on and across the six-yard box - Sylla taps it in at the far post, but he did so in an offside position.

First of the season
Amin Younes scored his first goal in a Schalke shirt. It was his first second-division goal in almost exactly ten years. His last goal in this division came on 30 November 2014. He had also scored for Kaiserslautern in the city of Hamburg, but that time, he was a few miles away playing at the Millerntor, the home of St. Pauli.
58'
Hamburg conceded customary goal
The hosts have now conceded an eighth goal in the first 15 minutes after half-time, which is a league-high.
57'
Schalke pull one back
Despite all the Hamburg dominance, it's now a one-goal game. A high ball into the penalty area is headed away, but it bounces off a Hamburg player's thigh - and then Younes is free on the right side and slots it in from close range. Game on.
56'
Stopped just in time
Hamburg counter as they cross it into the middle from the left. Königsdörffer collects the ball and prepares to shoot, but at the last moment, a Schalke player intervenes and stops the striker.
55'
Well wide
Younes cuts in from the left and shoots from 20 metres out. The ball goes wide of the left post.
53'
Schalke improving
The visitors are now keeping the ball better and are calmly building their attacks. They're looking to play it long and down the wings. However, the crosses haven't yielded anything yet.
52'
Richter means business
The man who scored the opener has taken five of HSV's eleven shots on goal. Schalke still have only registered the one attempt.
51'
Heuer Fernandes punches clear
Schalke get forward for the first time in this half. First, a nice cross in from the left is headed away, but Heuer Fernandes has to come out to punch the next cross into the box away from his goal.
49'
The 100 Percenters
Meffert hasn't lost a single duel yet, and Elfadli hasn't misplaced a single pass. Hamburg's defensive players are putting in an extremely concentrated performance today.

Selke misses chance
After the corner is cleared, the ball is played back into the penalty area. Suddenly, Selke finds himself completely unmarked. However, the ball bounces off his foot, and his shot on the stretch is then blocked. Another good chance for the striker.

Richter's shot blocked
Hamburg get forward immediately after the break. Königsdörffer passes to Richter, who shoots from a tight angle, with his effort being blocked and going out for a corner.

Half-time: Hamburg 2-0 Schalke
Hamburg lead 2-0 at the break. The Hanseatic side were the more determined and attacking team from the start, but initially struggled to create many chances. That was until Marco Richter's free-kick from 20 yards, which he fired in to give the hosts the lead. Just a minute later, Ransford-Yeboah Königsdörffer doubled Hamburg's lead after a dreadful defensive error. Schalke, on the other hand, have struggled to make an impact and deservedly trail.

Almost a goal back
Schalke create a decent chance, attacking down the left, then putting a low cross across the six-yard box. Sylla slides in but just fails to make contact with the ball. Otherwise, it would have been 2-1.

Not enough from Schalke
Hamburg have had seven shots on goal, and Schalke just one. The away side's defensive set-up has been thrown out the window, especially after conceding two goals.

Chasing records
Königsdörffer's best return in a single Bundesliga two campaign is eight, which he achieved in 2022/23. Given that we are only on matchday 13, he still has plenty of time to beat his personal best.

Good output
Ransford-Yeboah Königsdörffer scored his sixth goal of the season to make it 2-0, putting him just one goal behind Robert Glatzel, who is Hamburg's current top scorer.

Vulnerable in the first half
Schalke have now conceded 14 goals in the first half of games (26 in total), more than any other team.
34'
Huge chance for three
Another big chance comes Hamburg's way. Richter crosses in from the left. Selke controls it and tries to poke it in from six yards - but it goes wide to the right of the goal.
32'
Tap-in
With a goal probability of 98.2 percent, Ransford-Yeboah Königsdörffer's goal ranks fourth in the top five ranking of the most probable goals of the season.
31'
First time
Richter had never scored from a direct free kick in the Bundesliga, but now he tried it for the first time in the 2. Liga and scored straight away.
30'
Instant second
Hamburg strike twice in quick succession! The home fans were still celebrating the opener when they had a second reason to rejoice. It all came thanks to a defensive error. Keeper Heekeren plays to Schallenberg on the right of the penalty area. He immediately goes to pass it back, but Königsdörffer sprints in to intercept the weak pass, rounds Heekeren and slots it in for 2-0.
29'
Relief
Marco Richter has finally opened his Hamburg account.
29'
Direct conversion
Richter's opener was Hamburg's first direct free-kick goal in the Bundesliga 2 since 17 March, when Laszlo Bénes scored against Wehen Wiesbaden.
29'
Free-kick goal!
Marco Richter calmly sets up the ball, picks his spot, then blasts it into the top-right corner. Heekeren takes a step to his right, thinking Richter's going to aim over the wall, but this proves decisive as he is beaten on his side.
28'
Free kick for Hamburg
Miro Muheim is fouled just outside the penalty area, slightly to the left of the goal, resulting in a free kick in a good position for the home side.
26'
Hamburg quicker to pinch it back
The hosts are putting more pressure on their opposition and are winning it back faster than Schalke when they lose possession.
24'
Yet to impose
Hamburg have been trying to turn the screw, sending it a lot of crosses from the wings, but these haven't found any. Schalke are very secure at the back, heading everything aerial away.

Tripped over
A decent opportunity for the visitors. A long ball to the left unexpectedly reaches Younes, who is then free to run. The Schalke player then cuts inside - but stumbles over the ball.
19'
Selke shut down
The striker isn't seeing much of the play, having only had four touches. He's also yet to win a duel. Hamburg are, of course, without veteran striker Robert Glatzel, who is currently injured.
17'
Nothing to show for it
Hamburg have had 60 percent of possession, and are winning the majority of challenges. They're also running and sprinting more than Schalke, but they are missing a little attacking inspiration. The deep-lying visitors have not allowed them any gilt-edged chances so far.

A bit too long
Richter curls the resulting free-kick into the middle. It flies across the six-yard box - but is a bit too long and goes out behind the by-line without anyone getting on the end of it.
12'
Yellow card for Seguin
Katterbach dribbles down the left wing, then Seguin comes sliding in and brings him down.
10'
Yellow card for Katterbach
The Hamburg player uses his elbow on Murkin with the ball long in the distance. A good sport from referee Haslberger.
9'
Schalke pressing
The Royal Blues are now pressing high up the pitch, causing Hamburg trouble in their own penalty area.
7'
First counter-attack from Schalke
The visitors quickly advance through the middle before passing out to the left-hand side. However, a low cross into the box is intercepted by a Hamburg defender.
4'
Straight down to business
The home side have got forward almost immediately. They're spraying passes out wide, combining well, and things are looking promising. However, Schalke's defence remains solid.
2'
First attempt
Mikelbrencis advances down the right wing. His cross is headed away, but Richter is there to acrobatically strike the ball when it comes back in - it doesn't pose the Schalke goal any threat, however.

Solitary Schalke change
After his first victory in charge against Regensburg, Schalke boss Kees van Wonderen makes just one change to that XI. Janik Bachmann replaces Tobias Mohr, who is not in the squad today. Mohr got one assist and was heavily involved the other Schalke goal against Regensburg.
Three changes for Hamburg
Mikelbrencis, Poręba and Richter replace Perrin, Dompé and Karabec as Hamburg make three changes to the side that began the 3-1 defeat against Braunschweig.

Kees van Wonderen's view on HSV
"Hamburg have a good squad. They've had a bit of a tough time in recent weeks, which shows how tough the league is. They have creative players, play dynamically, and score many goals. We've prepared for that. It will be a challenge."
Steffen Baumgart's view on Schalke
"Pressure is normal in our job, it's the same at Schalke. We face the issues and want to be fully focused. Schalke has shown improving form recently. We need to play offensively and create many scoring opportunities. We will never play without mistakes, but we must handle setbacks better."

Heekeren stays
After his tenth match of the season in the 2-0 victory over Regensburg, Schalke's goalkeeper's contract has automatically been extended by one year until 2026. "I want to take on responsibility, perhaps I can even become a figurehead for the club," the 23-year-old keeper said.
