Full-time
That's it! Schalke secure their first away win of the season. Sylla's brace cancels out Münster's lead through Makridis and secures three important points. Preußen created the better chances and would have certainly deserved a draw.

Münster pushing for the equaliser
Friðjónsson has another shot, this time on the turn and with his boot. But the result remained the same: wide of the mark!
83'
Sylla takes his bow
The man of the evening has to come off: double goalscorer Sylla is replaced by Lasme.
80'
Dangerous again!
Münster menace again from a corner! This time the substitute Friðjónsson heads just wide of the goal.
78'
Heekeren preserves the lead
Münster are piling on the pressure! After a set-piece, the ball falls to Ter Horst's feet in the six-yard box, but the Schalke goalkeeper reacts brilliantly and parries it away to the side.
77'
Comeback victory?
On the last matchday, Schalke lost despite having been 3-0 up at one point - now they could be about to secure their first win after going behind.
74'
Goooal! Brace for Sylla!
Schalke take the lead after Sylla concludes a pinball session in the Münster area. Frenkert's attempted clearance deflected heavily off the Mali international, looping unstoppably over the hapless Schenk and across the line.
71'
Action packed!
A total of 30 goals has been scored in Schalke's seven Bundesliga 2 matches so far this season - more than in matches featuring any other single team in the division.
70'
Sharpshooter
Sylla has now scored five times this season, leaving him second only to Karlsruhe's six-goal striker Zivzivadze (six goals) on the Bundesliga 2 scorers chart.
67'
Goal! Sylla equalises for Schalke!
Paetow cleared an initial Schalke attack, but the ball fell to Aydin, whose shot Schenk could only parry... into the path of Sylla, who had the net at his mercy as he made it 1-1.
64'
Yellow card for Sylla
The striker is booked after treading on Mees in midfield.
63'
Unenviable record
Never before have Schalke conceded this many goals in the first seven matchdays of a season. Makridis' goal was the 17th time they have conceded this campaign.
60'
Münster also make changes
Preißinger and Deters replace Hendrix and Kyerewaa in midfield.
58'
First substitution
Schalke react to conceding by bringing on Antwi-Adjei for Younes.
58'
Clean sheets proving elusive
Schalke fail to keep a clean sheet for a seventh time this season.
57'
Makridis on a roll
Makridis scored last time out as well, against Regensburg. After seven matchdays, he has now scored as many times as he did for Osnabrück in 24 appearances last season.
53'
Goal! Münster take the lead!
This time the finish was spot on: Makridis makes it 1-0! Paetow's cross saw Aydin attempt to clear but the ball came off Bulut... and fell perfectly to Makridis, who coolly slotted home from 10 metres out.
49'
Strong play by Bulut
The youngster is pickpocketed by Németh in the middle pf the park, but he works hard to track back and wins possession once again.
47'
Over the bar!
The biggest chance of the match so far: Grodowski has plenty of time on the right flank and crosses into the box, where Makridis gets to the ball ahead of Heekeren. However, his header flies narrowly over the crossbar.

We're back underway!
The teams are back on the pitch. Let's get the second half started!

Half-time: Münster 0-0 Schalke
The match may still be goalless, but not for want of trying. Grodowski went closest to converting Münster's edge, but the linesman's flag kept the scores level - for now. Doubtless more end-to-end stuff to come in the second half!

Blocked!
The impressive Grodowski breaks through on the right wing and plays the ball back, where Kyerewaa gets a shot off from a good position. Kalas throws himself in the way and makes a strong clearance.
41'
That was close
Paetow's decisive defending initiates a Münster counter-attack. Grodowski drives the ball forward, and although his finish is unsuccessful, it almost becomes an inadvertent assist for Makridis, who misses the ball by a hair's breadth.

Calibrating...
There have been six shots on goal so far (4-2 in favour of Münster), but none of these attempts has been on target.

Chance for Münster
When Münster bring the danger, it's usually through Ter Horst on the right side. The defender delivered another sharp cross, but Kyerewaa's header failed to hit the target.

Beautiful attack
Murkin is excellently played through with three one-touch passes and he crosses from the left, but Sylla's header ultimately sails over the crossbar.
11'
Ten minutes played
While Münster are playing purposefully going forward, Schalke are initially focusing on control and are slowly building up play from the back.
9'
Same story with Hendrix
The Dutchman also plays the ball away after the referee's whistle, and he too receives a yellow card for his trouble.
8'
Early booking
Younes throws the ball away after a Schalke foul and receives a yellow card for it.
7'
Mees again
Ter Horst crosses to find the onrushing midfielder, who is just short. A couple more centimetres and it could have been really dangerous.
5'
Mees from distance
The home side look to get forward quickly after winning the ball. After Schalke clear a cross, the ball falls to Mees', who also shoots just wide of goal.
3'
First attempt
Makridis secures the ball in the middle, just outside the box, before turning and taking a shot. However, the ball flies a few metres high and wide.

Surprise inclusion in the squad
For Schalke, 32-year-old Tim Albutat is in the matchday squad for a second division match for the first time, despite usually playing for the reserve team. The defensive midfielder's last of 52 second-tier appearances was over five years ago, back in May 2019, for MSV Duisburg. The experienced player will start on the bench.
Youthful freshness
Eighteen-year-old Bulut is in Schalke's starting XI for the first time today, while 19-year-old Grüger is making his debut. Due to these two changes, the average age of the team has dropped from 28 (in the Darmstadt clash) to 25.7 years.
Schalke makes double substitution
Interim coach Jakob Fimpel makes only two changes to the starting lineup compared to the bitter defeat against Darmstadt: youngsters Bulut and Grüger start, while Kaminski and Antwi-Adjei move to the bench.
A substitution for Münster
Grodowski starts in place of the absent Amenyido. The 26-year-old was subbed on for the injured Amenyido after 13 minutes in the previous matchday against Regensburg and promptly scored to make it 1-0.
The Schalke starting eleven
Heekeren - Aydin, Kalas, Bulut, Murkin - Schallenberg, Grüger - Karaman, Younes, Mohr - Sylla
The Münster line-up
Schenk - Ter Horst, Paetow, Frenkert, Kirkeskov - Kyerewaa, Hendrix, Mees - Grodowski, Németh, Makridis
What Sascha Hildmann says
"The change of manager is a big surprise. I know Jakob Fimpel from the Regionalliga. But I don't know if he will do something completely new. We want to play with commitment and self-confidence and deliver a big fight."
The Referee Team
Referee: Dr. Robin Braun, Assistant Referee 1: Marc Philip Eckermann, Assistant Referee 2: Asmir Osmanagic, Fourth Official: Mitja Stegemann, VAR: Florian Lechner, VAR Assistant: Frederick Assmuth
This is what interim coach Jakob Fimpel says
"I've only been with this team for a short time. It's not so much about my own football, my own idea or my own conviction. I now see it as the most important thing to do what the lads can do, what they feel comfortable with."
Even record
In 1989/90, however, Münster won twice, which is why the record in the 2. Bundesliga is balanced (two wins for each club).
Known at Schalke
Before his move to Münster, Daniel Kyerewaa played for Schalke for three years, but only in the regional league team (from 2020 to 2023).
Long time ago
The last encounters took place in the 1990/91 Bundesliga 2 season, with Schalke winning both matches (3-1 at home, 3-0 away).
There from the start
Münster and Schalke were founding members of the Bundesliga back in 1963/64. Preußen were relegated immediately, but they remained unbeaten against Schalke (2-2 at home, 2-1 away).
