Hannover extends their home run, securing their fifth win in five matches. The visitors woke up too late in first game under Kees van Wonderen, remaining largely ineffective in attack for much of the match, while Hannover defended well and in a controlled manner throughout the entire game.

Schalke is struggling to get forward, while Hannover now even win a free-kick and take their time over it.

Schalke take a short corner. It ends with Karaman having the best chance of the match, but his shot ends up in the hands of Zieler, who holds it confidently.

Can Schalke still grab an equaliser?

The visitors remains in contention. Bachmann's cross finds Karaman, who heads over the crossbar under pressure.

Fresh personnel on both sides. Aydin and Seguin are brought on to create more pressure from midfield for Schalke, while Leitl changes his attacking options, with Ngankam and Rochelt joining the action.

Schalke are currently lacking offensive wing play. Tellingly, Bulut has plenty of space but no support on the right side, as Tempelmann has moved into the centre.

Schalke's good spell at the beginning of the second half seems to have fizzled out. The home side are back on top, but they are still lacking clear chances for a potential second goal.

Two quick cards for Schalke. Bulut's foul occurs right at the edge of the penalty area, resulting in a free-kick from a very good position for the hosts.

Hannover have made a switch at right-back as Muroya replaces Dehm. Schalke resume unchanged.

The home side go into the break with a deserved lead. Following the early goal, Hannover kept control, with Schalke only coming into the match late on but hardly posing a threat. The hosts, on the other hand, had two or three chances, including a header from Voglsammer just before half-time.

Just 60 seconds of additional time in the first half.

The hosts are doing well to keep the hard-working Schalke away from their goal and maintain their lead into half-time.

Hannover on the left, Leopold cuts inside and has a go. The shot is deflected for a corner.

Halstenberg fouls Tempelmann. Free-kick for Schalke from the left half-space, but it's cleared.

Schalke have found their feet a bit better but are yet to really pose a threat.

Momuluh moves towards the centre, Sánchez is alert, but the second ball falls to Lee. However, the shot from 20 metres goes well over the bar.

Once again, the Schalke defence is disorganised, and Hoffmann doesn't look too convincing either. A misunderstanding between the goalkeeper and defence brings Voglsammer into play, but Hoffmann reacts well to the close-range attempt, making up for his earlier mistake.

Schalke are familiar with going behind. They also found themselves behind initially against Münster and Hertha, but they didn't lose and managed to secure a total of four points.

After conceding early, Schalke are pressing forward more boldly now, forcing Neumann to put the ball out of play under pressure.

An great start from the hosts as Kunze turns the ball in at the near post from Leopold's wide free-kick.

It'll be interesting to see how Schalke approach the match tactically under their new coach. They're initially allowing Hannover to have possession and pressing from the halfway line.

Numerous away fans are cheering on their team, and the home supporters are also creating a lively atmosphere. A fantastic setting for the debut of new Schalke boss Kees van Wonderen.

The new coach opts for three new faces from the team that started the 2-2 draw against Hertha prior to his appointment a fortnight ago. Sánchez, Tempelmann and goalkeeper Hoffmann are in for Antwi-Adjei (injured) as well as Younes and Heekeren (both on the bench).

Coach Leitl makes four changes compared to the 2-0 derby defeat against Braunschweig. Dehm, Leopold, Tresoldi and Voglsammer replace Muroya, Christiansen, Nielsen and Ngankam (all on the bench).
