Full-time: Hannover 1-0 Schalke
Hannover extends their home run, securing their fifth win in five matches. The visitors woke up too late in first game under Kees van Wonderen, remaining largely ineffective in attack for much of the match, while Hannover defended well and in a controlled manner throughout the entire game.

Ruled out!
It looks like a substitute has wrapped this up as Ngankam finishes off a counter to give Hannover a second, but it's ruled out on review with Nielsen offisde in the build-up.

Attacking substitutions
Schalke make a double change, with Van Wonderen taking more of a risk and bringing on two attacking players for defenders Kalas and Bulut.

Fresh legs for the final period
Fresh personnel on both sides. Aydin and Seguin are brought on to create more pressure from midfield for Schalke, while Leitl changes his attacking options, with Ngankam and Rochelt joining the action.
69'
Little happening out wide
Schalke are currently lacking offensive wing play. Tellingly, Bulut has plenty of space but no support on the right side, as Tempelmann has moved into the centre.
67'
Still very much under control
Schalke's good spell at the beginning of the second half seems to have fizzled out. The home side are back on top, but they are still lacking clear chances for a potential second goal.
65'
Too low
Leopold's right-footed curler flies straight into the wall.
63'
Promising position
Two quick cards for Schalke. Bulut's foul occurs right at the edge of the penalty area, resulting in a free-kick from a very good position for the hosts.
60'
Good idea
Kalas is targeted for the free-kick with a pinged ball to the far post, but it doesn't work out and Hannover emerge with the ball. Still not enough of a threat from the visitors

Excellent covering from Sánchez!
The young Argentinian defender gets plenty of pats on the back as he slides in to clear a one-two attempt by Hannover that would've seen the hosts clean through on goal.
51'
Plenty of possession for Schalke
Schalke starting the second half with a lot of possession, trying to better involve Karaman and Sylla, who have been largely isolated so far.
49'
Lively Momuluh
Hannover also announce themselves in the second half as Momuluh crosses, but Hoffmann is alert to the delivery from the right.
47'
Schalke start well
Good attack from Schalke straight after the restart. Bulut and Grüger play a one-two and suddenly the former has plenty of space, but his cross from the right goes past everyone across the face of goal.
46'
We're back under way
Hannover have made a switch at right-back as Muroya replaces Dehm. Schalke resume unchanged.

Schalke defence under pressure
Hannover are delivering many dangerous balls into the penalty area, constantly causing problems for this shaky Schalke defence. Schallenberg crucially disrupts Tresoldi, otherwise it would have likely resulted in a great chance for the hosts from close range.
32'
Leopold from distance
Hannover on the left, Leopold cuts inside and has a go. The shot is deflected for a corner.
29'
Mohr in pain
The free-kick comes to nothing. Instead, Hannover counter-attack, but they don't create a clear chance either. Before the counter-attack, Mohr took a knock and is now receiving treatment.

Schalke through Bulut
Schalke again as Karaman sends Bulut down the right flank. The youngster's cross almost reaches Sylla. Another good move from the visitors.
17'
Next chance for Leopold
It's all Hannover at the moment. Leopold tries a low shot from outside the box. Just wide of the right post. The hosts deserve their lead so far.
15'
Voglsammer again in the action
A long ball reaches Voglsammer, who controls it brilliantly. Schalke manage to clear, but the attack was offside anyway. Nevertheless, the newly introduced striker has been very lively so far.
12'
Voglsammer!
Once again, the Schalke defence is disorganised, and Hoffmann doesn't look too convincing either. A misunderstanding between the goalkeeper and defence brings Voglsammer into play, but Hoffmann reacts well to the close-range attempt, making up for his earlier mistake.
10'
Schalke trailing again
Schalke are familiar with going behind. They also found themselves behind initially against Münster and Hertha, but they didn't lose and managed to secure a total of four points.
8'
Schalke a bit bolder
After conceding early, Schalke are pressing forward more boldly now, forcing Neumann to put the ball out of play under pressure.
6'
Bad start for Van Wonderen
And how do Schalke react to falling behind? It could hardly be a worse start for new coach Van Wonderen. Bulut attempts a push forward on the right, but his cross is blocked at the edge of the penalty area.
5'

The dream start for Hannover. It's the fifth time in as many home games they've gone ahead this season. The best home team in the league strikes early!

Four changes for Hannover
Coach Leitl makes four changes compared to the 2-0 derby defeat against Braunschweig. Dehm, Leopold, Tresoldi and Voglsammer replace Muroya, Christiansen, Nielsen and Ngankam (all on the bench).
