STINDL!!!

Gladbach might not get a better chance than this. Herrmann invites the run of Stindl in behind Davies. He has men in the middle - one is Embolo, but the ball has just too much on it. All it needed was a touch, and Gladbach would have been ahead. So unlucky!
77'

PERISIC HALF-CHANCE

Much better from Bayern as the ball is worked to Perisic on the edge of the box. He sells Lainer a quick step-over, before - perhaps caught in two minds - driving an effort that is neither shot nor cross - across goal.
77'

GLADBACH ON TOP

Gladbach are virtually unrecognisable from the side that sailed so close to the wind in that one-sided first half. They're controlling proceedings now - Bayern are on the back-foot.
69'

ON COMES THE BATTERING RAM

Hansi Flick responds to the changing tide by introducing Javi Martinez at the expense of Jerome Boateng. Fresh legs and a battering ram in one - he should disrupt Gladbach's flow.

GLADBACH GROWING IN CONFIDENCE

Suddenly it's Gladbach with the bit between their teeth. Patrick Herrmann's on, too. His pace is bound to cause Bayern problems.

BENSEBAINI LEVELS!

Is this Bayern's profligacy coming back to haunt them? Jonas Hofmann whips in a corner, and Ramy Bensebaini is effectively unmarked as he heads the home side back on level terms. They don't deserve it - but Rose won't care one bit. Game on at Borussia-Park!

PERISIC BREAKS THE DEADLOCK!

Bayern ahead - and you have to say it's been coming. Ivan Perisic drives with purpose across the box. He's shown away from goal, so releases the ball to Thomas Müller. Gladbach have men behind the ball, but not on Perisic, who collects the return pass and rifles an unstoppable effort on the turn beyond Sommer. The Swiss stopper got a hand to it, but the swerve and pace were just too much.

TURBO PHONZY

Davies with gazelle-like strides beyond three Gladbach players. He hammers a ball into the area - bit of a cross-shot - and Sommer has to punch clear. He looked like he was only in second gear, the Canadian. Rapid.

ALL SQUARE AT THE BREAK!

Gladbach with a rare chance to overload Bayern, but Marcus Thuram's final ball is poor. Bayern have owned it in the first half - they just didn't manage to find the goal their dominance deserved. Gladbach chasing shadows - what's Rose got up his sleeve?

TWO ADDED MINUTES

Bayern will be kicking themselves not to be in front, but there's still time. Perisic takes aim following a corner - blocked! Back to to the drawing board for Gladbach at the break, surely...?
44'

GORETZKA CLOSE!

Leon Goretzka doing what Leon Goretzka does best with a late run into the opposition area. He rises high to meet Thomas Müller's inviting cross, but heads over.
43'

PLEA!

Gladbach finally register a shot on Neuer's goal! Plea catches it well enough from 20 yards, but Neuer's got it covered.

COMAN TESTS SOMMER

Bayern continue to monopolise possession as Coman holds off a couple of challenges and shoots straight at Sommer. It's ALL Bayern...
36'

ANOTHER CHANCE GONE

Thiago releases Lewandowski with a peach of a ball up the Bayern right. The Pole picks out Perisic a treat, but the Croatia international's first touch on the chest allows Gladbach's defenders to recover. There's a foot raised when he shoots, and it's just enough to put him off as the ball sails over. The Bayern sub got caught there, but looks OK to continue.
34'

TALKING TACTICS

This is not the Gladbach we're used to seeing. They've being hemmed in, virtually starving Marcus Thuram of chances to run at the Bayern defence. Marco Rose must surely be thinking about introducing Patrick Herrmann and Breel Embolo after the break...?
29'

MILLIMETRES AWAY!

Joshua Kimmich has a pop from outside the Gladbach area. Sommer's unsighted as he drops to claim the ball, but it hits him on the hip and squirms under his falling body. The Bayern fans are on their feet, but the Borussia stopper recovers to prevent the entire ball crossing the line - with his finger!
27'

SOMMER WITH THE SAVE!

This isn't routine, though. Gladbach only half clear a ball into the six-yard box. Thomas Müller takes it on first-time and, with Lewandowski obscuring his vision, Sommer gets down really well to push the ball behind.
24'

DAVIES THE LEFT-BACK

Alphonso Davies with his best impression of David Alaba shifts forward and cuts a ball back from the by-line. Coman meets it, but his looping header is routine for Sommer. No doubt Davies is growing into the left-back role.
20'

TOLISSO INJURED

Corentin Tolisso drops to the turf with nobody near him. He's clutching his hamstring, and knows he can't continue. Such roten luck with injuries, the Frenchman. Ivan Perisic is on.
20'

LEWY AGAIN!

Bayern are getting closer at Borussia-Park. This one's straight off the training ground as Thiago dinks a free-kick over the Gladbach wall. Lewandowski takes it on the volley, but it's wide again from the Bayern striker. Three big openings already - will Bayern be made to pay for their profligacy?
14'

LEWY CLOSE!

Lovely, lovely football from Bayern. The ball's worked over from the right to Kingsley Coman on the edge of the box. He finds Lewandowski coming in off the left flank, but the Pole's first-time curler bends just wide. Ginter was chasing shadows; Sommer was rooted to the spot. Bayern on top.
9'

BIG CHANCE!

So close to the opener. Kingsley Coman combines with Phonzy Davies and hooks a ball back to Leon Goretzka. Tolisso picks it up and sticks it into the danger zone, but Thomas Müller can't direct it on goal from close range. Yann Sommer was beaten. Bayern desperately unlucky.

TIT-FOR-TAT

GLADBACH DARING TO DREAM

Gladbach are top of the table with 28 points; they were only in a better position after 13 matches in the 1976/77 season, when they had 33 points from 10 wins and three draws. That year, they went on to win the title. The last time they hosted Bayern as league leaders was that same season, when they won 1-0 on 11 December with a goal from Allan Simonsen.

LEWANGOALSKI

Lewandowski has the same amount of goals as Gladbach’s top three scorers combined (16), but he hasn't scored in his last two league games. The last time he went three Bundesliga matches which he started without a goal was in April of this year; before that it was way back in November 2016. The Bayern No.9 has stuck away three in his last three Bundesliga meetings with Gladbach, although his overall record against the Foals is a somewhat underwhelming - by his goal-den standards, at least - four in 15.

PRE-MATCH CHAT - BAYERN

"During my childhood, Gladbach vs. Bayern was always a classic," Hansi Flick recalled of the title-for-title rivalry shared by the two clubs in the 70s. "My brother was a Gladbach fan, I was of course a Bayern fan. We're going there full of confidence. Both teams play with a lot of dynamism. We mustn't allow them too much space."

PRE-MATCH CHAT - GLADBACH

"We’re first and Bayern are fourth," explained Marco Rose prior to the game. "That’s how it is and we’re not making anything more out of it, but I think it’s cool to be top and we want to stay there… it’s no different to any other game. It’s just a Bundesliga match. We're really looking forward to it and we want to win the game. But we will need to put in an absolutely top performance in order to do this. We want to be brave, stick to how we play football and play like we have been over the past few months. It will be important to work well as a team, keep a high level of physicality to win the ball back quickly, and create enough goal scoring opportunities."

MORE ON THAT BAYERN TEAM

Hansi Flick also shows Gladbach some real respect with his line-up. Joshua Kimmich reverts to right-back following a solid run in defensive midfield, with Benjamin Pavard making way. Jerome Boateng is preferred to Javi Martinez in the middle of the back four, while Thiago and Corentin Tolisso form the midfield pivot. Kingsley Coman comes in on the left wing for Philippe Coutinho who, like Serge Gnabry, has to settle for a place on the bench. Still, that's some Plan B, should Flick need it...

MORE ON THAT GLADBACH TEAM

Gladbach have been in rampant form, but Marco Rose has opted for a slighty more conservative approach for the visit of Bayern. Patrick Herrmann, who has had a hand in seven of the Foals' last eight goals - and Breel Embolo - with a hand in three of their four strikes in the win over Freiburg - make way in attack. Lars Stindl is given his first league start since fracturing a shin in April, with Alassane Plea also getting the nod in attack alongside top scorer Marcus Thuram. In midfield, Jonas Hofmann is preferred to Florian Neuhaus, while Matthias Ginter returns at the expense of Tony Jantschke in defence.

TOP TUSSLE

Gladbach top, Bayern fourth?! Don't worry, you haven't stepped back in time to the 1970s . The Foals have been flying under Marco Rose this term, and currently have a one-point lead over RB Leipzig in second. Defending champions Bayern, who are chasing an eighth consecutive title (the greedy so-and-sos) are four points back in fourth.
