SIMPLY A FANTASTIC GAME

Three goals from either side, two comebacks from RB Leipzig and pure entertainment throughout. A true Bundesliga classic played out between Dortmund and Leipzig here at the Signal Iduna Park. The home side will be frustrated having gifted their visitors two goals to bring the game level early in the second half, but a draw is a fair result after that thriller. One of the games of the season so far.

ADDED TIME

We're into three minutes of added time here with Dortmund still on top.
88'

DORTMUND ON TOP

The home side are in control of the ball and pressing hard for a goal here in the final minutes. They will have to be wary of the Leipzig counter-attack as well, though...

FRESH LEGS ON THE LEFT

Nico Schulz comes on for the final minutes here having scored his first Dortmund goal last time out.

INTO THE FINAL 10...

What a game we have had so far and it's still all to play for. The rain hasn't stopped for a single second in this second half and both sides are gunning for a winner here. As things stand Leipzig will extend their lead at the top to three points from Gladbach, while Dortmund sit just one point behind the Foals in third.
78'

AND WE ARE LEVEL AGAIN!

Schick has his third goal of the season and the most important one so far. Mukiele is on the end of a ball into the box from Upamecano and his effort is saved by Bürki, but falls in front of goal around the penalty spot. Schick is first to it and smashes it into the ground, beyond the Dortmund defenders around him and into the back of the net.

A REAL MIDFIELD BATTLE

Julian Brandt has the most challenges won among Dortmund players (18) while Konrad Laimer and Diego Demme have the most among Leipzig players (17). It's a war in the middle of this pitch.
73'

LEIPZIG STRUGGLES

Since Werner's second goal in the 53rd minute Leipzig have not had a single shot on goal. With over 15 minutes to play, they will need to get themselves going again in attack in search of another equaliser.
71'

SANCHO OFF INJURED

The Englishman limps off here for Dortmund and is replaced by Piszczek, bringing Hakimi up to right midfield. A sad sight for BVB fans who will be hoping their prized possession isn't badly injured.
68'

REUS JUST WIDE

Scrappy stuff between Hakimi and Upamecano but the Dortmund man comes out on top and sends Reus away in on goal with a defender to his side. He shoots low across goal from a tight angle and gives Gulacsi no chance, but almost drags his effort inches wide.
64'

HAKIMI GOES SO CLOSE!

A fantastic one-two between Hakimi and Sancho into the box sends the wing-back in on goal. He has Reus and Hazard begging for the goal but shoots himself, but it's blocked behind at the near post.
62'

SCHICK TO CHANGE THE GAME?

The Roma loanee has scored two goals in as many Bundesliga games and will look to hold up the ball more now. Dortmund had been able to close the spaces that they had allowed earlier in the half, with Hummels back to leading them again.
60'

ANOTHER RECORD FOR SANCHO

Jadon Sancho has now scored his 22nd Bundesliga goal and with that has become the youngest player in Bundesliga history with 22 league goals to his name. He's the youngest since Horst Köppel in 1968 by two days at 19 years and 267 days old.
55'

SANCHO SMASHES DORTMUND BACK IN FRONT!

Hakimi has possession on the right flank and finds Reus running in behind the Leipzig defence with a perfect pass. He reaches the byline and cuts it back to Sancho in the penalty area. A touch to control before taking it past the defender and smashing it home through Gulacsi. He has now scored in seven games in a row in all competitions.

ANOTHER MISTAKE FOR WERNER TO LAP-UP!

Julian Brandt's attempted pass back to his goalkeeper is a poor one and Werner latches onto it. He skips past Bürki and pokes the ball into the empty net. His 18th goal of the season, going level in the scoring charts alongside Robert Lewandowski. What a game we have here!

LEIPZIG PILING ON THE PRESSURE

The away side don't mind the rain at all and they have started this second half fantastically. Sabitzer has a shot blocked behind and Klostermann has another attempt from the corner saved a point-blank range by Bürki. The home side have not been able to get started yet here.
51'

HALSTENBERG... NO GOAL!

The wing back is played in on goal and cooly places the ball past Bürki from a one-on-one, but he's offside when he does so. VAR has a check and it stands as no goal.

GAME FULLY ON NOW

An early Leipzig goal to bring them back in the game as the torrential rain continues to pile down in Dortmund. This is going to be a fun second half to follow whatever the result.
47'

BÜRKI WITH A BIG MISTAKE

Gulacsi's long ball bounces all the way through to Bürki with Werner chasing it. The Swiss keeper is forced to leave his penalty area and go for the ball with his head. He tries to clear it to the left-back but miscues and the ball slices off his head and straight to Werner who slots it into the empty net.

PERFECTION FROM DORTMUND

Leipzig held to just two shots on target in the first half, both coming in first half stoppage time and producing fantastic saves from Roman Bürki. He did his job, as did everyone else. Julian Brandt and Achraf Hakimi were particularly influential, as well as Jadon Sancho. Dortmund playing with so much confidence in Lucien Favre's new 3-4-3 system and Leipzig will have to come out and answer it in the second half.

POULSEN AGAIN!

Best chance of the game so far for Leipzig as a deep ball into the box is headed down by Mukiele and Poulsen is perfectly-placed to meet it. He nods a header at goal but it's superbly saved by Bürki. He then tips Werner's header from the resulting corner over the crossbar as well. Two incredible saves before the break.
42'

FINALLY A GOAL FOR BRANDT

The midfielder has told bundesliga.com several times in recent months about his desire to get on the scoresheet again having scored on his Bundesliga debut for Dortmund way back on Matchday 1. He has scored his second Bundesliga goal for Dortmund after 14 games without finding the net in the league.
38'

FLAWLESS FROM BVB

It has been as near to a perfect half of football as Dortmund could have asked for so far. Two goals to the good and controlling the game while keeping Leipzig's lethal weapons quiet. Still a long way to go in this game, but the home side have made a statement already here.
34'

WHAT A GOAL FROM BRANDT!

That's world-class from Julian Brandt. He is found in the box by Jadon Sancho and turns on a six-pence, bringing the ball with him past Upamecano with a drag-back of pure brilliance before shooting low across Gulacsi into the far bottom corner.

POULSEN GOES SO CLOSE

A first mistake by Dortmund as Brandt loses possession in midfield. Forsberg picks it up and finds Poulsen next to him outside the box and the Dane has a shot at goal from range, but it curls just over the bar.
28'

DORTMUND DOMINATING

Leipzig just have not been able to start this game as they would have liked and it's down to Dortmund. The pressing has been endless and precise, while the forward movement is beginning to open up the Leipzig defence. Lucien Favre will be delighted with his side's start.
23'

WEIGL HAS DORTMUND AHEAD!

Sancho came so close to opening the scoring after his attempted pass to Reus went back to him off Halstenberg, but his shot when one-on-one with Gulacsi was parried away. Guerreiro picked up possession and found Weigl 25 yards from goal to the left and he shot at the near post. Gulacsi will be kicking himself as he dived too early and the ball bounced above him, clipping his leg before hitting the back of the net.

HAKIMI GOES AT GOAL

The wing-back picks up Hazard's cross and finds Brandt in the middle, with the German returning the ball to him with a nice one-two. Hakimi then runs into the box and decides to go for goal at the near post and Gulacsi makes a good save to deny him the opener.
18'

LEIPZIG BEING PRESSED

The away side are trying to play their way with Werner looking to get on the ball to run at the Dortmund defence, but he's rarely had possession. The home side are pressing well when needed and hounding the Leipzig players into mistakes.
15'

HUMMELS FORCES A SAVE

Hazard's corner swings to the back post and Hummels meets it, sending a looping header back towards goal. Gulacsi follows it and tips the ball onto the roof of his own net. The defender has had three opportunities from corners already in this opening 15 minutes.
10'

HUMMELS LOOKING FOR THE LONG BALL

It's one of his specialities and the Dortmund centre-back is looking for the ball over the top of the Leipzig defence all the time here. He's connected with one to Sancho and Hazard, who was offside, but it's a threat Dortmund will continue to work with.
6'

BOTH TEAMS HAPPY TO SIT

No intense pressing so far when one team is in possession of the ball in their own half. However, both side's defences have been fantastic in these opening minutes with crucial tackles coming in from Hummels on Werner and Klostermann on Hazard. Intense from the get-go here.
3'

HUMMELS HEADS WIDE

The first run forward of the day from Hakimi earns Dortmund a corner which is sent into the Leipzig box and Hummels meets it. The defender smashes a header wide of the mark though, looking to celebrate his 31st birthday yesterday with a first goal since his return to Dortmund today.

UNDERWAY IN DORTMUND!

HERE WE GO!

It's the big one on Matchday 16 here in the Bundesliga as Dortmund host Leipzig in a packed Signal Iduna Park.

RAMPAGING BULLS

Leipzig, however, are top of the Bundesliga table having won their last six league assignments. Perhaps worryingly for the BVB defence, they have done so by scoring at least three goals in each game. Only two teams have scored at least that many goals in more consecutive games: Bayern in 2005 (eight) and Cologne in 1964 (seven).

FORTRESS SIGNAL IDUNA PARK

Dortmund are the only team this season yet to lose at home in the league and have in fact been beaten in just one of their last 24 at the Signal Iduna Park in the Bundesliga (a 4-2 derby loss to Schalke). BVB are also currently on a club-record run of 32 home league games where they’ve scored, which is also the league’s longest ongoing run.

LEIPZIG LANDMARKS

Marcel Sabitzer makes his 100th Bundesliga appearances today (all for Leipzig), while Nordi Mukiele features in RB colours for the 50th time in all competitions.

THREE FOR RB

Julian Nagelsmann is yet to name the same team in back-to-back games, and today he makes three changes to the side that started their (also comfortable) 3-0 win at Fortuna Düsseldorf. Yussuf Poulsen comes in for his first Bundesliga start since Matchday 11 and is joined by Nordi Mukiele – a goalscorer on Saturday – and Emil Forsberg, who was rested for that game. Out go Stefan Ilsanker, Christopher Nkunku and Patrik Schick.

ONE BVB CHANGE

Lucien Favre said we would have to wait and see how his side line-up today, but he’s gone with the same set-up that comfortably beat Mainz 4-0 on Saturday. The only change is Raphael Guerreiro starting on the left wing in place of Nico Schulz, despite the Germany international’s goal.

LEIPZIG LINE-UP!

Gulacsi – Klostermann, Mukiele, Upamecano, Halstenberg – Sabitzer, Laimer, Demme (c), Forsberg – Werner, Poulsen (SUBS:  Mvogo, Haidara, Ilsanker, Lookman, Nkunku, Wolf, Cunha, Schick, Ampadu)

DORTMUND LINE-UP!

Bürki - Akanji, Hummels, Zagadou - Hakimi, Weigl, Brandt, Guerreiro - Hazard, Reus (c), Sancho (SUBS:  Hitz, Dahoud, Alcacer, Götze, Schulz, Balerdi, Morey, Piszczek, Bruun Larsen)
