BVB LOOKING FOR GOALS

The home side are on top here but can't get themselves a clean shot at goal. The ball drops to Akanji but the defence is quickly there in their own box, while Reyna and Sancho are heavily involved on either flank.

KICK-OFF COMING UP!

There's some rain falling at the Signal Iduna Park. It's a cold winter day in Dortmund, but we're in for a fiery encounter between two teams in the top-8. Get yourselves settled in for what should be a cracker this afternoon!

TALE OF THE TAPE

Dortmund have been bunked down to fifth overnight after Wolfsburg's Friday night win over Frankfurt. They remain just four points off the pace with three points this afternoon putting pressure back on Bayern - who are at Union this evening. Stuttgart, meanwhile, are the season's surprise package so far and sit eighth. Three points could even take them into the top six.

SLOW STARTING DORTMUND

BVB have not scored earlier than the 31st minute in league matches this season, while 19 of their 22 goals have fallen in the second half. Defender Mats Hummels is Dortmund's next-best scorer after Haaland in 2020/21, with three goals in 15 competitive appearances.

SILAS NAMED NOVEMBER ROOKIE OF THE MONTH!

The VfB Stuttgart forward has been named the Rookie of the Month for November after an outstanding month in his first Bundesliga campaign. The 21-year-old Congolese attacker has scored three goals and added one assist in his last three league games.

BELLINGHAM: "GUERREIRO DIFFERENT CLASS"

The young Englishman reckons his compatriot - Sancho - isn't even the best player at Dortmund. "The one player not many people recognise or talk about too much is Raphael Guerreiro," he said. "Honestly, he only plays with his left foot but some of the things he can do – his passing, his dribbling – he makes look easy. He runs rings around everyone. To him, it's a laugh."

BELLINGHAM: "SANCHO SKILLS SCARY"

Jude Bellingham has said this week that Jadon Sancho's skills are "scary". "When Jadon is on it, it's frightening. Some of the stuff I’ve seen him do is scary, and I've only been here a few months," Bellingham told the January 2021 issue of Four Four Two. "When I first arrived in Dortmund, he was the one who really helped me out. He was like, 'Do you need this, do you understand what this is, do you know how to get this?' He didn't need to do that. He could have just gone about his own business and worried about himself, so for him to take the time to do that tells you a lot about what he's like as a character."

OH, STUTTGART DO LOVE PLAYING AWAY

Stuttgart are unbeaten away from home this season (W3, D2). Only Bayern (12 points) and Bayer Leverkusen (14 points) have fared better on the road. VfB have also scored at least once in every game in 2020/21, including seven following a mistake by an opposition team.

NO FANS, NO FUN FOR BVB

Dortmund have suffered five defeats in seven home Bundesliga matches played behind closed doors. They have only lost one of 32 league games at the Signal Iduna Park under Lucien Favre, with fans present.

BVB TEAM NEWS

Already the Bundesliga's youngest-ever player, Youssoufa Moukoko took that title in the Champions League with his substitute appearance in Russia, although the 16-year-old is still waiting to be handed his first senior start just yet as Dortmund look to end a run of two league outings without victory, as well as back-to-back home defeats. Marwin Hitz started in goal during the week, but gives way again to first choice Roman Bürki, while right wing-back Thomas Meunier joins Haaland on the sidelines.

STUTTGART TEAM NEWS

Nicolas Gonzalez is back in the squad, but boss Pellegrino Matarazzo keeps him on the bench while he has had one enforced change to make with captain and former BVB midfielder Gonzalo Castro suspended for an accumulation of yellow cards. Mateo Klimowicz, son of former Dortmund striker Diego, and Philipp Förster both come in with Sasa Kalajdzic also dropping to the bench.
