WIDE FROM BELLINGHAM!

After Sommer does well to save a thunderous drive from Guerreiro moments earlier, Dortmund attack again with Brandt down the right. He drills a low cross into the middle, where Bellingham is arriving, but his first-time shot goes wide of the target.

WAYWARD FROM BRANDT

Some lovely build-up from Dortmund as an attack starts to take shape with quick passing from Morey and Haaland to Brandt. The Germany international strides forward in a central position and tries to find Sancho wide on the left, but he overhits his pass and it goes out for a goal kick. He looks to the heavens in frustration - that was a promising situation for the visitors.

JUST WIDE FROM PLEA!

Hofmann robs Akanji of the ball inside his own half and immediately sprints forward. Gladbach have three on two, and he slots the ball into Plea's path. The Frenchman looks certain to score but is just put off by Bellingham as he shapes to shoot, and his effort rolls agonisingly wide of the far post.
49'

BENSEBAINI STUNNER!

HALF-TIME!

An entertaining first 45 minutes come to an end. Gladbach enjoyed by far the better start and had a goal disallowed inside the first minute, before Elvedi headed in Hofmann's free-kick. Dortmund rallied though, and turned the game on its head thanks to Haaland's brace. Elvedi prodded the hosts level from close range though, leaving this match finely poised at the interval.

INTO THE WALL

Reus wins a free-kick right on the edge of the Gladbach area, right of centre, following a foul by Bensebaini. Guerreiro takes it but his strike goes straight into the wall and is cleared.
45'

WIDE FROM NEUHAUS!

It must be 3-2 to Gladbach... but no! Neuhaus is allowed a free shot from the edge of the box, aiming for the top corner. It's close and he should score, but it curls just wide of the upright.
43'

ALMOST FROM HAALAND

Morey fizzes a low cross into the box from the right. Haaland darts towards the near post to reach it, but isn't able to make contact with his weaker right foot. He holds his head in anguish - he knows that was a great chance for his hat-trick.

AKANJI CLEARS

A nice move from Gladbach as Zakaria sends Lainer tearing away down the right wing. He gets into the box and to the byline before crossing into the middle, but Akanji is alive to the danger and boots it clear.

15 MINUTES TO GO

Not long to go until kick-off now - just quarter of an hour in fact, which is still plenty of time to raid the fridge. At the very least, get yourself comfortable wherever you're joining us from as this has all the trappings of a belting Friday night fixture...

FRESH FACE

Still just 38, Dortmund coach Terzic has overseen seven games since stepping into Favre's shoes, with his record reading four wins, a draw and two losses in all competitions. With the position still undecided long-term, Terzic will be hoping to make his case for the permanent position with victory tonight.

COACHES CORNER

Gladbach boss Rose actually briefly coached Haaland at Red Bull Salzburg and he's made a similarly good impression since stepping into the Borussia Park dugout in 2019. He's led the Foals to 27 wins in 51 Bundesliga matches and putting an end to that poor run against BVB would be a real statement of intent from his side.

HAALAND: THE KEY TO DORTMUND DREAMS

THE HAALAND EFFECT

Speaking of history makers, Dortmund's record-breaking Norwegian striker may have only scored in one of his last five outings, but he has 12 in 12 games this term and continues to score at an alarming rate. His overall Dortmund record since joining just over 12 months ago? Just the 35 goals in 36 games across all comps...

HISTORY MAKER

One to save for a future quiz; Hofmann - who has four goals and six assists in 11 Bundesliga appearances this season - became the first player in history to move directly from Dortmund to Gladbach as recently as 2016.

THE SCENE IS SET

REYNA DROPS TO BENCH

There will be some raised eyebrows at Dortmund's team sheet, however, with Meunier and Reyna dropping to the bench. Morey replaces the former at right-back, while Brandt holds onto his spot in the side after scoring his first goal of the season in the loss to his former club Bayer Leverkusen this week. Speaking of former clubs, Reus leads BVB out against the team he represented 109 time between 2009-2012, prior to his switch to the Signal Iduna Park.

CAP 'N' ZAK BACK

There are few surprises in the Gladbach starting XI, with Bensebaini, captain Stindl and Zakaria all back in from the off having begun on the bench in he 1-0 win over Werder Bremen in midweek. Thuram is back in the squad after serving his five-game ban and is joined by Embolo among the BMG subs.

Recent history in BVB's favour

Dortmund have dominated this fixture in recent years and have won each of the last 11 Bundesliga games between these two. The last time Gladbach took all three points was a 3-1 win back in April 2015, when Lucien Favre - who left Dortmund in December - was Gladbach coach and Thorgan Hazard among the BMG ranks, while Mats Hummels is the sole Dortmund survivor from that match.

And the visitors

As for Dortmund, it’s fair to say they’ve struggled to find consistency recently and are looking to avoid going three games without a win by seeing off Gladbach tonight. It was a very different feeling among those at BVB after they won the reverse fixture 3-0 on Matchday 1, whre Erling Haaland’s brace and Gio Reyna’s first Bundesliga goal had them dreaming early on of ending their nine-year wait for a Bundesliga title. They’re far from out of the title hunt, though, especially if Haaland and Reyna can get them firing again this evening.

How the hosts are looking

Team news will be with us shortly but before then, let's take a look at how the two sides are shaping up. Gladbach have started moving in the right direction recently and are four unbeaten in the league (W3, D1) to put Marco Rose’s side back into contention for a top-four spot going into the Rückrunde. They’ve also won their last two at home in the Bundesliga, including a 3-2 win over champions Bayern Munich that kickstarted their recent resurgence.

The Battle of the Borussias

It’s all to play for and it should be a cracker…
