GERHARDT SEALS THE WIN!
Three goals, three points and into third for Wolfsburg. Gerhardt celebrates extending his contract this week by completing the win. Baku plays a ball across goal which is almost put home by Bialek, but runs to Gerhardt at the back post to score.

ABSOLUTELY BREATHTAKING!
Lucas Höler meets a corner with a full, acrobatic volley from 12 yards out. It's destined for the far bottom corner with his name among one of the nominees for Goal of the Season, but Casteels saw his name among the Save of the Season list instead. He dives to his left and pushes the ball away with his fingertips. Stunning football all round.

DOUBLE CHANGE
Two more pairs of fresh legs on for Freiburg with Kübler and Keitel on for Schmid and Santamaria here.

FIRST CHANGE

WEGHORST SOMEHOW DENIED!
INCREDIBLE! What a save from Florian Müller. Gerhardt is sent away down the left after some outstanding passing from Wolfsburg. A low cross to the back post finds Weghorst in front of goal, and he shoots on target but Müller somehow keeps the ball out on his own goalline. One of the saves of the season so far.

FREIBURG'S STRUGGLES
So much of Freiburg's attack threat comes from their wings, but Günter and Schmid have been quiet so far. A credit to Wolfsburg's defence, too, with Mbabu and Otavio handling them well.
60'
DOUBLE CHANGE
Here come the reinforcements as Petersen and Höler come on in place of Jeong and Demirovic.

A GAME OF FINE MARGINS
54'
GOAL RULED OUT!
Incredible stuff here. Weghorst almost has a second as he's onto Gerhardt's low cross to the near post but his first-time effort bounces back out off the post. Otavio gets the loose ball and finds Steffen in the middle, who puts the ball past Müller, but does so from an offside position.

WOLFSBURG ON THE BALL
After a bright start from Freiburg in this second half, the hosts are beginning to see more of the ball now and be patient in their play.
49'
SANTAMARIA AGAIN!
The midfielder picks up possession 20 yards from goal and has space to shoot. He fires an effort at goal which draws Casteels into action, but it just goes past the post by a few inches. Santamaria heavily involved in the Freiburg attack.
47'
OFF THE BAR!
Just before half-time, Santamaria sent a free header over the crossbar and the Frenchman does it again here. Schmid's cross to the near post meets his fellow countryman, and he beats Lacroix to the header which clips the crossbar and goes over.
46'
BACK UNDERWAY!
No changes at the break as Freiburg get us back underway, looking for something different in this second half.

BIG CHALLENGE FROM OTAVIO
Jeong is played in behind the Wolfsburg defence and looks to be in on goal, but Otavio comes across from left-back to slide in and make an outstanding tackle to clear the ball away and kill the chance for Freiburg.

WONDERFUL WEGHORST!
What a stunning finish that is from Wolfsburg's big man in attack to double the Wolfsburg lead. Steffen lays Weghorst into the area, and Weghorst battles beyond Schlotterbeck before he slides the ball in past Müller with the outside of his right boot. That's 13 goals in 19 games now this season.

SUCH AN EVEN GAME
We're only separated by a single goal so far here, with Brooks putting Wolfsburg ahead. A look at the stats and you can see how closely these two teams are contesting this game in the first half.
32'
FREIBURG PROBING
Demirovic and Grifo are finding some space between the Wolfsburg defence and midfield, but so far Lacroix and Brooks have been outstanding in keeping them quiet in front of goal.
25'
PERFECT START
Brooks' goal sends Wolfsburg into third place as things stand, three points off Leipzig in second and two ahead of Frankfurt in fourth. A couple of new names in the top four of the table into the second half of the season.
21'
BROOKS WITH THE OPENER!
Wolfsburg are into the lead and it's USMNT defender John Brooks who does the business. Arnold's corner is flicked up into the air by Demirovic. Lacroix goes for the second ball, and it drops for Brooks in front of goal who reacts well to smash the ball home.
19'
ALMOST COMES FOR WEGHORST
Schlager drives into the Freiburg box and the ball across where Weghorst is waiting, but he can't quite control the pass to then get a shot away with plenty of bodies around him. Wolfsburg beginning to find some more space in attack.
17'
ARNOLD HAS A GO
Baku reaches Gerhardt's pass wide and plays the ball back into the middle, with Gerhardt dummying the ball through to Arnold. The midfielder goes for a first-time shot with his right foot, but it's blocked away by the Freiburg defence.

DEMIROVIC INVOLVED
The Freiburg forward is doing well to drift away from Lacroix and Brooks in these early stages, but he's lacking the final pass to link up with Jeong and Grifo in attack.
6'
INTENSE START
This game is end-to-end, up and down the pitch with hardly a touch for either midfield in the centre of the park. Freiburg's good work so far continues to come down their left flank.
2'
BRIGHT START
Günter and Grifo involved already, with Freiburg pressing the Wolfsburg penalty area in the opening minutes. The battle between Baku/Mbabu and Grifo/Günter is going to be fascinating down one side of the pitch today.

HERE WE GO!
The ball is rolling for the final game of the weekend's Bundesliga action, with Freiburg visiting Wolfsburg.

WEGHORST VS. GRIFO
This game sees two of the Bundesliga's most in-form players go head-to-head in Weghorst and Grifo. Weghorst is joint-fourth in the Bundesliga scoring chart with 12 goals and has an impressive record against Freiburg with three goals and two assists in five games. Grifo’s seven goals is the most he’s ever scored in a Bundesliga campaign. His best haul in any division is 14 for Freiburg in Bundesliga 2 in 2015/16.
FORTRESS WOLFSBURG?
This is Wolfsburg’s 400th home game in the Bundesliga, where they are still unbeaten this season (W5, D3). The Wolves have so far scored 699 goals.
TALE OF THE TAPE
Freiburg are unbeaten in five games against Wolfsburg (W2, D3), having lost seven out of the previous nine (D1, L1). Their three wins at the Volkswagen Arena is more than they’ve managed away at any other team in the Bundesliga under Streich.
WOLFSBURG TEAM NEWS
Ridle Baku got the goal in that game from his new advanced position on the right, with Kevin Mbabu now slotting in at right-back. Striker Wout Weghorst may have been kept at bay in that match, but the Dutchman has 12 goals for the campaign - the only Wolves player with more than three - and is averaging better than a goal every other game in 102 appearances for Wolfsburg (54).
FREIBURG TEAM NEWS
Wooyeong Jeong got the winner and has been praised by coach Christian Streich, so he continues in attack. The return of right wing-back Jonathan Schmid from injury after three games out is also a boost.
