Gladbach's No.1 says breaking the 40-goal single-season Bundesliga record would be the "icing on the cake" in Lewandowski's career, but is determined that it won't happen this weekend. "The record would be the icing on the cake for his incredible career," Sommer told Sport1. "He's been playing at a consistently high level for years and is a key player in a great team. He's a great finisher and an unpredictable one too. I'll have to be quick and make good decisions. I wouldn't begrudge him the record - just not this weekend."

While Bayern's job is done in the league, it's still all to play for, for Gladbach. The away side are five points off Leverkusen in the race for a Europa League spot, with Bayer dropping points at Bremen today in a 0-0 draw. For them, it will be huge to get all three points this evening.

Since the start of 2014/15, no team has taken more points off Bayern than Gladbach (20 in 13 Bundesliga matches). However, Gladbach have the worst away record of all teams in the current top seven (18 points from 15 games), winning only won of their last eight on the road.

Despite the title bring wrapped up, Bayern are at full-strength - something that in recent weeks means a start for Musiala. Alaba is pushed into midfield with Goretzka on the bench.

Plea is waiting on the bench again, while Hofmann, who didn't feature against Bielefeld, is recalled. Club captain Stindl is also back in training, but only fit for the bench, giving coach Marco Rose plenty of options in the final third.

"They play good football, from Sommer right through to the attackers," said Bayern head coach Hansi Flick on Friday. "They have so much quality. They'll make us work and we'll need a top performance. We have three games to play and we can claim the title by winning any one of them."

"Taking on Bayern when they have the chance to win the title is a difficult challenge," said Gladbach coach Rose at his pre-match media briefing. "We were too passive in the opening stages in the reverse fixture. We need to have the right amount of conviction if we're to get another result. There are nine points still up for grabs. We have to pick up as many possible from our remaining games. We have four points to make up on Leverkusen and need to keep Union and Freiburg behind us too."

The Gladbach captain has been out of action since Matchday 28 (10 April), but he trained with the rest of the team this week and head coach Marco Rose said he "looks to be in good shape," but that he would "have to see how long he could play for on Saturday".

Lewandowski is averaging a goal every 61 minutes in this season’s Bundesliga, and his current tally of 26 leaves him just four shy of equalling the league's all-time record of 40 set by the legendary Gerd Müller. He'll be keen to inch closer to that today - even if winning the title remains the obvious priority. However, the Polish forward has tallied just five goals in 17 league meetings with Gladbach, his lowest return of all current Bundesliga teams he has faced more than three times (not including Bayern).

Gladbach have enjoyed more success than most against Bayern recently, however, so could well spoil the party. The Foals have won four of their last seven meetings with the Reds, including a 3-2 triumph earlier this season and a 3-0 away victory in October 2018. Overall, Bayern have taken maximum points from 50 of the 105 Bundesliga encounters between these two to date, with 26 Gladbach wins and 29 draws.

After Bayern slipped to a surprising 2-1 defeat in Mainz two weeks ago, they have their next chance to seal the 2020/21 Bundesliga title today, needing just one victory from their remaining three fixtures to confirm a ninth successive Meisterschale. Gladbach are still in the running for European qualification, however, so also have plenty riding on the game.
