ALMOST A HAT-TRICK FOR HAALAND!

Dortmund's main man breaks away through the middle, cuts inside onto his right and fires a shot for the far bottom corner from 20 yards. This time, Trapp makes a big save to keep Haaland from getting his hat-trick. Haaland really, really wants another.

HAALAND'S WORLD!

Haaland has started the 2021/22 like he means real business with two goals and two assists in this five-start performance. The hosts are looking for more as well as we approach the final 10 minutes.

HAALAND MAKES IT FIVE!

It's a brace for Haaland and five for Dortmund as he is played in on goal by Reyna and cuts in from the left onto his right before sliding the ball beyond Trapp. Initially the flag is up on the far side against him, but a check from Video-Assist shows he is onside and the goal is given.

CHANCES GO BEGGING

Frankfurt have a rare chance in this second half as Borre breaks down the left. He crosses into the middle and Hauge collects the ball before getting his shot away, but some fantastic last-ditch defending from Akanji helps Kobel not be forced into action once more.

A COMPLETE PERFORMANCE

Marco Rose's side are starting life in the Bundesliga this season in style. Four goals, four different scores and three points heading the way of the hosts.

REYNA MAKES IT FOUR!

Haaland won't be rewarded with an assist here, but his effort is why Dortmund have a fourth goal. The ball runs loose from Reyna after his shot is blocked in the Frankfurt area and Haaland beats the Frankfurt defence to it. He goes for goal on his right and his shot is deflected into the path of Reyna who controls and slots home. A scramble of a goal, but he and Dortmund won't mind one bit.

DORTMUND DOWN THE RIGHT

BVB have an expected goals rate of 1.77 so far, compared to 0.25 of Frankfurt, and most of their attacking play has come down the right. The trouble for the visitors has been that Hazard, Reus and Reyna have been interchanging behind Haaland, making them so difficult to track.

HAALAND CAN DO IT ALL

Not only has he been involved in each Dortmund goal, Haaland has also won twice as many duels as the best on offer from Frankfurt.

DORTMUND COMING CLOSE!

Bellingham asks the home support to raise the roof as he dribbles forward towards the Frankfurt area. The ball bounces between him and Reyna before the Englishman's shot is blocked wide. Dortmund finding their groove again in this second half.

BORRE GOES CLOSE!

Great start to the second half from the away side as Lindström swings in a cross from the left and Borre meets it in front of goal with his head. Kobel matches his effort with a fantastic save to his left.

61 goals in 61 games for Dortmund, and 41 in 44 in the Bundesliga. How good is Erling Haaland?

BVB DENIED A FOURTH!

Reus thinks he has a brace but Dortmund's fourth goal of the first half is ruled out with the ball out of play. It was Reus in possession on the edge of the Frankfurt area, but a deflection sent the ball wide of goal. Trapp looked to keep it in play with the ball coming off a man in red, and his dive sent the ball to Reus for a tidy finish across goal. A check from referee Tobias Stieler shows the ball was out of play, though.

ALMOST ANOTHER!

This game has burst wide open here as Haaland tricks his way through the Frankfurt defence on the left before sliding Schulz in on goal. He gets a shot away at the near post but Trapp matches this one to parry the ball behind.
34'

HAALAND OFF THE MARK!

Kobel's long ball forward is flicked on by Reus and bounces towards Ilsanker. He's slow to deal with it and Haaland pounces, touching the ball past him and racing away at goal. He only has Trapp to beat and does so with composure, slotting the ball into the bottom corner with his left foot across goal. That's 61 goals in 61 games for BVB.

HE'S A HAZARD TO FRANKFURT!

A third goal in the last nine minutes and Dortmund re-take their lead. It's a fantastic counter-attack through the middle as Reyna finds Reus, who flicks to Haaland and he's on his way. A look up as he runs helps him spot Hazard in space to his right, and the Belgian's shot is too hot for Trapp to handle as it bounces into the roof of the net off his foot.

HERE WE GO!

The time has come for Dortmund and Frankfurt to kick-start the Bundesliga Saturday evening slot in style for 2021/22. Haaland is raring to go, with Reus, Reyna and co. in support, while the Eagles have a new man in attack and on the touchline.

GLASNER IN CHARGE

Oliver Glasner swapped Wolfsburg for Frankfurt in the summer but has a baptism of fire for his first Bundesliga fixture in charge of the Eagles. Glasner has lost all four of his previous Bundesliga meetings with Dortmund to nil.

HEADLINE HAALAND

Haaland scored 41 goals in 41 games last season, including 27 in the Bundesliga. His Dortmund record as a whole reads 60 goals from 60 games played.

BVB TO START IN STYLE?

Dortmund have won their last seven Bundesliga matches in a row. Eight would equal the club record, set in under Jürgen Klopp in 2011/12, when BVB last lifted the title.

THE FANS ARE BACK!

Over 20,000 fans are in the Signal Iduna Park for the opening weekend of the season and they're making their presence known as the home side come out to warm-up with 30 minutes to go until kick-off. The return of fans has been welcomed across the league this weekend.

DORTMUND TEAM NEWS

BVB's 3-0 victory at Wehen Wiesbaden in the DFB Cup marked a winning start to Marco Rose's reign after he succeeded interim coach Edin Terzic at the helm. Another new face we can expect to see is summer signing Malen, who starts on the bench today. Not a new face but sporting a new number, Reyna has inherited Jadon Sancho’s No.7 jersey as the USMNT international prepares to take on an even greater role in this Borussia team. Kobel is the new first-choice goalkeeper - ahead of Swiss compatriots Bürki and Hitz - after joining from VfB Stuttgart, but he'll have a slightly makeshift defence in front of him given that Hummels and Guerreiro are out for the opening weekend, and Passlack is the only fit right-back at the moment.

FRANKFURT TEAM NEWS

Borre has been brought in to replace the club-record 28 goals Andre Silva scored last season - one more than Haaland - before the Portuguese's move to RB Leipzig. Another new face, Lindstrom, also started Frankfurt's DFB Cup first round of defeat but it is the trusted Kamada who gets the nod. Kostic wasn't in the squad last weekend owing to suspension in the DFB Cup, but he is available here and displaces newcomer Lenz on the left.

FRANKFURT STARTING XI!

Trapp - Ilsanker, Hinteregger, N'Dicka - da Costa, Sow, Hasebe (c), Kostic - Kamada, Barkok - Borre

FRANKFURT SUBS

Ramaj, Hrustic, Ache, Hauge, Lenz, Lindström, Younes, Tuta, Durm

DORTMUND STARTING XI!

Kobel - Passlack, Akanji, Witzel, Schulz - Bellingham, Dahoud - Hazard, Reus (c), Reyna - Haaland

DORTMUND SUBS

LINE-UPS COMING UP!

The official team news from both Dortmund and Frankfurt will be coming shortly for our first Saturday evening fixture of the new season. It's been an entertaining day so far around the league with a ton of goals scored across our five games earlier.

HEAD-TO-HEAD

With 45 wins to 31, Dortmund have the edge historically from the 96 Bundesliga meetings to date (20 draws). Frankfurt are unbeaten in four of the last five games though, winning away and drawing at home last term.

PREVIOUS MEETING: DORMTUND 1-2 FRANKFURT - HIGHLIGHTS

These teams last met on Matchday 27 in April this year. Mats Hummels cancelled out an early Nico Schulz own goal, but a late Andre Silva strike earned Frankfurt all three points.

CAN FRANKFURT BOUNCE BACK?

Glasner's reign got off to a nightmare start in the DFB Cup first round last weekend, his charges losing 2-0 away to third-tier side Waldhof Mannheim. "We didn't do the basics," the coach said in his analysis of that game. "Our problems weren't tactical, it was more that we lost too many challenges and didn't have enough determination." Expect a very different performance from the Eagles today.

NEW SIGNINGS ON DISPLAY?

Marco Rose and Oliver Glasner will be in the dugouts today, having respectively been in charge of Borussia Mönchengladbach and Wolfsburg last season. Each have new faces to integrate into their sides: Gregor Kobel is set to start in goal for Dortmund following his summer arrival from Stuttgart, while Donyell Malen could be handed a place in attack alongside Haaland. For Frankfurt, Rafael Borre is expected to lead the line following Andre Silva's departure, while Jens Petter Hauge and Jesper Lindstrom are vying for places in attacking midfield.
