CHANCES!

Silas shows great control as he takes the ball in his stride and into the Mainz box. He goes to ground as he goes to shoot, but the referee waves play on. Mainz break, with Szalai flicking a left-wing cross just wide of the far post.

HALF CHANCE

Lee takes the bull by the horns and finds Onisiwo. The Austrian turns towards goal, but Ito intervenes. Müller gathers, though for a moment it looked like the deflection was going to beat him.

SOSA SEARCHER

Stuttgart come again with Sosa, but his cross is deflected into the arms of Zentner. The home fans are getting right behind their team now. Mainz need to get a foothold in the game, and fast!

STUTTGART RETAKE THE LEAD!

Moments after Förster tickles the side netting, Stuttgart regain their advantage. Mainz concede possession from a throw-in on halfway. Mangala takes possession and drives forward, before shifting the ball to his left. There only looks to be a cross on for Sosa as he collects in the box, but the Croatian surprises eveyone by sweeping high into the top corner. No chance for Zentner - what a way to score your first Bundesliga goal!

Only Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski has a better record than Burkardt across the last five rounds of fixtures. The Germany U21 has scored five in that time, and six this season.

SVENSSON WARY OF STUTTGART REVIVAL

Four matches is the longest unbeaten run of any Bundesliga team right now, but Mainz have drawn their last two. Head coach Bo Svensson revealed he "didn't like the body language" against Cologne, before talking up a Stuttgart team better than their current standing in the relegation zone. "Looking at their last game against Dortmund, you can see what kind of quality they will come at us with tomorrow," he warned. "Stuttgart are a special team – there is no other team in the Bundesliga who plays quite like them, and that will make the task more difficult for us tomorrow."

MATARAZZO CAUTIOUSLY OPTIMISTIC

Stuttgart have won only one of their last 11 Bundesliga matches, but head coach Pellegrino Matarazzo saw the green shoots of recovery in last weekend's narrow loss to Dortmund. "They showed the right reaction against Dortmund last time out after disappointing games against Augsburg and Bielefeld. That was a positive sign," the American said at his pre-match press conference. "The players have shown that they believe in themselves and are adopting a solution-oriented approach. We’re looking ahead with positivity. I’m confident we can show similar energy and performance levels against Mainz compared to last time. If we manage to do that, we’ll achieve our objectives."
