Leipzig eventually wore Wolfsburg down to record their third league win in a row. Out-of-form Wolfsburg didn't do a lot wrong, putting in a strong away performance after a slow start. They'll rue some missed chances late in the first half as they have now gone nine Bundesliga matches without a win and hover just above the relegation zone. Willi Orban got his first goal of the season with 14 minutes left, nodding home after Silva's header hit the frame of the goal. Josko Gvardiol then marked his 20th birthday by getting his second goal of the campaign on the break. Leipzig are now up to sixth, ahead of Hoffenheim on goal difference and only four points behind third-placed Bayer Leverkusen.

A like-for-like change for Wolfsburg at half-time. Both sides are working their way back into the game following the break.

Wolfsburg started slowly but they finished the first half really strongly. Novoa got a shot on target for Leipzig but in the last 20 minutes it was one-way traffic for the visitors. The home side were penned into their own box when the half-time whistle blew.

The visitors have been under some serious pressure on the ball, but they've managed to repel Leipzig for now.

The home side have had 59 percent of the ball and three attempts at goal. Wolfsburg have yet to fire a shot in anger.

As you would expect from two sides that played in the UEFA Champions League group stage this season, neither team is giving an inch so far. Ridle Baku got down the right for the visitors, but Leipzig were able to shut down the attack.

Leipzig are hoping to make it eight home wins from 11 this season, while Wolfsburg are on the hunt for a fourth away win in 10.

These sides last met on Matchday 3, when a rare Jerome Roussillon goal gave Wolfsburg their third win from three at the start of the season. The Wolves are out of form now, but Leipzig boss Domenico Tedesco is not taking them lightly. "If you look at their squad, you can’t underestimate them," he said pre-game. "Wolfsburg’s players are proven in this league. They have top players in every position and that’s how we’ll approach the game."

Wolfsburg drew 0-0 at home to Hertha Berlin last time out, and they are again missing injured joint-top goalscorer Lukas Nmecha today. Renato Steffen is suspended for this game, so Belgian midfielder Aster Vranckx comes in in the only change for the visitors.
