Augsburg have enjoyed by far the better results in this fixture so far, winning won and drawing two in the top flight over the past 18 months, while they also won all four encounters in Bundesliga 2. Noah Sarenren Bazee's goal last weekend has thrust him into the starting XI today. The 25-year-old, who has struggled with a spate of injuries in recent years, makes his first Bundesliga start since June 2020, in a 1-1 draw away to Fortuna Düsseldorf on Matchday 33 of the 2019/20 campaign. Since then he has made just 19 appearances as a substitute, including 13 so far in the current season.

Markus Weinzierl opts for just three changes. One is enforced with Niklas Dorsch suspended, so Carlos Gruezo comes into midfield. Iago replaces Mads Pedersen at left wing-back. And Ricardo Pepi drops to the bench in place of Noah Sarenren Bazee, who came on to score the equaliser last weekend at home to Dortmund.

Frank Kramer makes four chances from the team beaten 3-0 in Leverkusen last weekend. It’s the most he’s made from game to game in 2022. Janni Serra and Alessandro Schöpf have knocks so miss out. Fabian Klos and Gonzalo Castro come in for them – the former making his first start since Matchday 15 and the latter only his second for the club. Cedric Brunner and Andres Andrade are the new full-backs in place of Nathan de Medina and Jacob Laursen.
