PLENTY OF ENDEAVOUR
87'
MASSIMO OVER
The substitute with a tidy turn on the edge of the box to create space for a shot, but he fires over.
86'
STILL TIGHT
Stuttgart have had 63% possession in the second half but Bochum have had more attempts on goal. Both teams will perhaps still be pleased with this result given they conceded a combined 10 goals last weekend.

ENDO!
Now the Stuttgart skipper has a go from 20 yards, looking to bend one in the far corner, but Riemann is across to hold.
78'
FROM DISTANCE
Rexhbecaj tries his luck from a good 25 yards. Müller spills it as it reaches him on the bounce before he grabs the loose ball.
75'
MASOVIC BOOKED
More yellow than a banana as Masovic completely clears out Führich.
72'
LOSILLA LOB!
The Bochum captain goes for the 40-yard lob after spotting Müller off his line, but puts just too much behind it.
71'
NEVER EVER
Stuttgart are yet to play out a goalless draw in the Bundesliga under Pellegrino Matarazzo.

SOSA!
A ball across from the right sits up nicely for the left-back arriving from deep. He puts his laces through it but without any accuracy as he flashes it wide across the goal.
60'
MARMOUSH!
And straight up the other end, Marmoush is in behind but at a narrow angle on the right. He goes for power but blazes over.
60'
ANTWI-ADJEI WIDE
Chances are starting to flow now. This time it's Antwi-Adjei but he drags his effort wide.
59'
POLTER OVER
This time it's Bochum at a set piece and Polter getting his head to a corner, but he can only put it over the bar.
55'
RULED OUT!
Stuttgart think they have the lead but it won't count. Führich headed down Sosa's deep free-kick in the box, but Mavropanos then controlled it with his arm as he stooped to chest the ball before finishing. Referee Dingert had to go over to the monitor to check before disallowing it.

He once again uses his pace to get in behind down the right. He tries to beat Müller with power but finds no way past the Stuttgart goalkeeper.

DOUBLE CHANGE
Back underway for the second half and it's a double substitution for the visitors. Klimowicz and Al Ghaddioui both found it tough to get into the game and were also on yellow cards, so they make way for Führich and Thommy. That will likely see the more mobile Marmoush go up top on his own.

ANOTHER CAUTION
Al Ghaddioui is the fourth player and third for Stuttgart to go into the book. He was never going to catch Anwti-Adjei so took the Bochum winger down.

SOSA WIDE
Stuttgart have a free-kick just right of centre and a good distance out after Bella Kotchap's foul. It's an ideal angle for Sosa's left foot, but his shot lacks venom or precision as it trickles wide. The visitors' first attempt on goal since the fourth minute.

KEEP IT WIDE
Bochum are trying to get in behind this reshaped Suttgart defence by going at their full-backs. 42% of their attacks have been down the left, while 37% have been down the right wing. Only 21% of moves have come through the middle.

YELLOW FOR KLIMOWICZ
Bockhorn is again the victim out on the touchline, this time Klimowicz is the guilty party cautioned by referee Dingert.
18'
LÖWEN!
First time today we've seen Bochum carve their way through and they almost make it count as Polter flicks on to Antwi-Adjei and he turns it around the corner for Löwen. He puts his foot through it to the left of goal but only smashes his effort at Müller.
14'
SOSA BOOKED
The Stuttgart left-back is late in tackling Bockhorn and picks up the first card of the day.
12'
A RARE BACK FOUR
Stuttgart have actually gone for a four-man defence today as they look to change things it up. You can see from the average positions that their line-up is actually this: Müller - Mavropanos, Karazor, Anton, Sosa - Coulibaly, Mangala, Endo, Marmoush - Klimowicz - Al Ghaddioui
8'
HOLTMANN MOVING...
We've already seen him dribble through a defence this season to score the August Goal of the Month, and Holtmann almost repeats the trick today against Stuttgart, but he stabs his effort looking for the far corner wide.
4'
MAVROPANOS!
The big defender then gets his head to the in-swinging corner from the right, but Riemann is well positioned to save.

ONE-SIDED FIXTURE
It’s been over 11 years since these sides last met in the Bundesliga. Stuttgart won 2-0 at the Ruhrstadion in April 2010 to extend their unbeaten run over Bochum to eight in the top flight. You have to go back to May 2005 for the last time VfB were beaten in the league in this fixture. The overall Bundesliga record reads 33 Stuttgart wins from 64 meetings, to just 15 Bochum victories. The Swabians also did the double when the sides were last together in the same division in the 2019/20 Bundesliga 2 (2-1 H, 1-0 A)

TURN THINGS AROUND?
Both sides have registered just one win from the first five matchdays and also have two of the Bundesliga’s leakiest defences. The seven Bochum conceded in Munich gave them their heaviest defeat ever in the top flight, while Stuttgart have picked up just one more point since thumping the other promoted club – Greuther Fürth 5-1 on the opening weekend.
STUTTGART TEAM NEWS
Pellegrino Matarazzo also reshuffles his defence after last weekend’s 3-1 defeat at home to Leverkusen. Waldemar Anton returns after suspension, while Atakan Karazor drops back as Hiroki Ito and Marc Oliver Kempf drop to the bench. There are two out-and-out strikers on the pitch as Hamadi Al Ghaddioui joins Omar Marmoush up front, alongside the restored Mateo Klimowicz. Roberto Massimo is the other player to make way.
BOCHUM TEAM NEWS
Thomas Reis has made four changes after last weekend’s 7-0 thrashing at Bayern. Two come in defence with Herbert Bockhorn and Erhan Masovic replacing Konstantinos Stafylidis and Vasilios Lampropoulos. Eduard Löwen and Christopher Antwi-Adjei and are in for Robert Tesche and Milos Pantovic.
