Great save

Bynoe-Gittens goes for his second goal of the game with a powerful, swerving shot from distance but the Bremen keeper is equal to it.
88'

Haller!

It's the striker's first shot of the game as he shoots with the outside of his right foot fro close range, but Pavlenka saves with his chest.
85'

Game over

A lovely finish from Brandt, who has been in fine form this year. Guerreiro does brilliantly to retain possession on the left before picking out a brilliant pass to find Brandt's run. He turns Stark inside out and then places a low shot into the far corner!

Just over

Ducksch goes close against his former club with an instinctive volley from just inside the box that loops over the bar.
77'

Off the line!

Brandt drives forward down the right, cuts into the box and goes around Pavlenka. His shot is cleared off the line by a defender though!
74'

Bellingham curls wide

The midfielder drives forward from the left and aims a curler towards the back post the bends narrowly wide.
71'

Bremen reaction?

The home side respond by making a double substitution of their own, including former BVB attacker Maximilian Philipp.
68'

Instant impact!

What a hit! The teenager has only been on the pitch a matter of seconds but he's already made his presence felt. He plays a lovely, cushioned ball into Schlotterbeck's path on the edge of the area and when it bounces kindly back to him, the English youngster smashes a left-footed strike high into the net!

Double change

Edin Terzic attempts to refresh his attack by bringing on Bynoe-Gittens and Özcan. Can the provide the spark needed to make a breakthrough?
61'

Post!

Schmidt robs Can of possession and quickly plays it to Ducksch, whose powerful left-footed shot beats Kobel but hits the post! It wouldn't have counted though, as the referee's assistant raises his flag for offside.

Füllkrug wants his goal

The Germany striker has had three of his side's six attempts at goal today.

Weiser floats a cross from the right into the box. Füllkrug gets there first but his header loops well over.

Break in play

Schlotterbeck and Weiser both receive treatment after colliding mid-air.

BVB on top

The visitors have come out for the second half determined to assert themselves. The action is taking place almost entirely in Bremen's half at the moment.
46'

Reus!

Dortmund almost get off to the perfect start as Reus scampers away behind the defence. He gets a shot away just as the defender closes in, but Pavlenka makes a good save with his legs.
46'

Here we go again!

Bremen get the ball rolling. Bittencourt, who was on a yellow card, has been replaced by Schmidt.

All square

There's still all to play for here in a match that could go either way. Both teams have had chances but they just haven't found the finishing touch.

Too much tiki taka

Dortmund break forward in numbers and get into Bremen's area. Reus, Reyna, Bellingham and Brandt all have opportunities to shoot but instead try to find a teammate with a pass. The latter's ball into the middle is eventually hoofed clear.

Bremen closer

information
xGoals
The xGoals value of a club is calculated from the sum of all goal probabilities (goals and shots on goal) of that team. During a match, it’s easy to see whether the club is performing better than expected (goals> xGoals) - or maybe even higher (xGoals> goals).
Dortmund might have had more of the ball, but it's the hosts who have been more dangerous in the final third.

Füllkrug surely!

Weiser crosses from the right and picks out Füllkrug arriving in the box. He's unmarked and has a free header about eight yards out, but heads it down into the ground and wide. The striker holds his head in anguish - he knows he should have done better there.
36'

Nothing doing

Guerreiro whips a cross into the box but it ricochets among the forest of legs and goes harmlessly out of play.
35'

Free-kick for Dortmund

Bittencourt goes into the referee's notebook for bringing down Bellingham from behind. Dortmund now have a free-kick about 25 yards out, over to the left.
32'

Füllkrug making mischief

The Germany international wriggles and twists his way into some space on the left-hand side of the Dortmund penalty area and manages to stand up a cross into the middle. It's the kind of ball he'd love to attack, but he can't find a teammate and the visitors can clear.

No quarter given

It's the ideal kind of game for Dortmund's Can, who loves getting stuck in.

Moukoko has signalled he can't go on after that challenge from Bittencourt, so Haller is getting stripped off and ready to come on for the visitors.
26'

Moukoko down

The teenager receives treatment on the pitch after a heft tackle. He looks a touch worse for wear but should be able to continue.
23'

Weiser!

What a strike from the Bremen wing-back, striking a cleanly hit left-footed volley at goal. Kobel reacts well to get a fingertip to the ball to tip it over.
22'

Bremen go close!

A cross from the right goes deep to the back post, where Ryerson isn't taking any chances and bundles out for a corner off his thigh. It didn't quite go as planned, as the ball flies rather too close to his own goal for Kobel's liking, but he just about gets away with it.

Bossing it

BVB are well on top in terms of possession here but haven't managed to convert it into chances.

First opening

Moukoko slips a ball into Reus' path as he darts behind the defence. He's one-on-one with Pavlenka, who makes a good save. It wouldn't have counted anyway as Reus was offside, but it was still a promising move from a BVB perspective.
5'

High press

Bremen's starting positions are very high up the pitch at the moment: they're surrounding the box at a Dortmund goal kick and are not letting them out.
3'

Still settling

Neither side has had much time on the ball as yet. Both sets of players are closing down their opposite numbers quickly and it's all a bit hectic.

"QUICK PLAYERS"

Edin Terzic's men are buzzing after that midweek Cup win against Bochum but they face another tough road trip today as they seek to add to an impressive five-game winning run in all competitions. "It has never been easy for us in Bremen," Terzic said ahead of today's encounter. "They always have very good link-up possibilities with their two strikers, quick players to get in behind and players that link up well on the flanks."

"INDIVIDUAL QUALITY"

“We’re not looking at that game anymore; that wouldn’t make any sense," Werder coach Ole Werner said of his side's 3-2 win in Dortmund earlier this season. Speaking about BVB's threats this time around, the Bremen tactician explained, "Dortmund’s current side has a really good balance to it. They are physical at the back and keep things tight. They have lots of individual quality on the ball and are extremely dangerous in front of goal, which is no secret."

Watch: Previous meeting: Borussia Dortmund 2-3 Werder Bremen

Who could forget this game? In a comeback for the ages, Bremen were 2-0 down in the 89th minute but somehow still managed to score three times before the final whistle to snatch the unlikeliest of victories from the jaws of defeat.

Historic

The very first goal in Bundesliga history was scored in this fixture. On Matchday 1 of the 1963/64 season, Dortmund's Timo Konietzka found the net inside the first minute at the Weserstadion.

Finely balanced

Incredibly, both teams have scored exactly 175 goals in the 107 Bundesliga meetings to date. Dortmund have the slight edge overall though, with 46 wins to Bremen's 42.

Reus on a roll

Dortmund captain Marco Reus has more Bundesliga goals against Bremen (14) than against any other team.
