Bremen pull one back!
Well, well. Stage sent a speculative effort narrowly wide moments ago, but Bayern do not heed the warning. They back off as Schmidt advances with the ball at his feet before nestling a superb long-range strike into the top corner. Is there to be another twist in the title race?

Triple change
Fresh legs for Bremen. Ducksch was hobbling, so Werner won't want to take any risks with Füllkrug already on the sidelines.

So close!
A Bittencourt shot is blocked behind for a corner that's worked back to Ducksch on the left-hand side. He cuts inside and curls a wicked effort just past the upright. Sommer didn't move.

Sane adds a second!
Bayern have a two-goal cushion! Cancelo is the architect, drifting in off the left-hand side before laying a pass off to Mazraoui. He slips it in behind Friedl for Sane to stroke a cute finish into the bottom corner.

Over from Weiser!
Lovely one-touch stuff from Bremen on the edge of the Bayern area. It opens up for Weiser, who lifts a shot over the bar from 18 yards. They're not done yet...

There it is!
Bayern have had a good, sustained spell of pressure, and it has paid off! Gnabry is in the right place, at the right time to tuck the ball past Pavlenka from close range after Musiala scuffed the ball through for him.

How long will it be before we see Thomas Müller spring off the bench? Or perhaps Leroy Sane? So far, Thomas Tuchel has opted not to throw the dice, sticking with the 11 players he sent out at the start of the match.

Dortmund the happiest
So at the midway stage, neither Bayern nor Bremen fans will be particularly happy with this scoreline, but Dortmund fans will certainly be the happiest - as things stand, they would have an opportunity to go top tomorrow. But 45 minutes still to come...

Goals guaranteed?
In view of shot efficiency, we have two of the top four teams in the Bundesliga out here this evening: Bayern have exceeded their Expected Goals (xG) by 12, with Bremen 9 goals over their xG. So despite the rather slow start, we can still expect goals.

Champions (League) with a win
If Bayern do beat Bremen, and make it a record-breaking 27 consecutive games unbeaten against the northern Germany club, then they will be able to celebrate qualification for the UEFA Champions League with three games of the season to spare.
Really so simple?
Well, the maths is simple, but Bayern are unbeaten in their last 26 Bundesliga meetings with Werder. So add that into the equation and if Bremen are to celebrate certain safety tonight, they really will have achieved something.
Safety in sight
With most of this weekend's results in, Bremen know that a win today would earn mathematical safety. It's as simple as that...

Bremen's marksmen
Niclas Füllkrug is the top scorer in the Bundesliga this season with 16 goals, while strike partner Marvin Ducksch has more than anybody else in the league in the second half of the campaign (nine). Overall, Bremen's strikers have contributed a league-high 31 goals this term; Bayern's forwards only have 23.

Watch: The most exciting Bundesliga title races of all time
Record fixture
This will be the 112th Bundesliga meeting between these teams, making it the most-played fixture in Germany's top flight.
Bogey team
Bremen are winless in their last 26 Bundesliga meetings with Bayern.
Weight of history
Bayern have gone on to win the Bundesliga title 28 of the 29 times they have been top of the standings after Matchday 30. They only time they failed to do so was in 1992/93.
The stakes
Bremen are relatively safe in 12th place, seven points above the relegation zone. They could have ensured their survival with a win over Schalke last weekend, but now have their next chance to book Bundesliga football for 2023/24. For Bayern meanwhile, only a win will do as they look to hold off Dortmund's challenge for the title.
