Full-time: RB Leipzig 4-2 Schalke

Schalke are relegated to Bundesliga 2. Having clawed their way back from 2-0 down in Leipzig on the final day to level at 2-2, hopes were raised that Schalke might enjoy a miracle escape - before late goals from Poulsen and Nkunku sealed their fate of relegation to Bundesliga 2. Christopher Nkunku's brace means he finishes the season as joint top goalscorer with Niclas Füllkrug.

Coach’s view: Leipzig

Marco Rose: “We’ll play with a top XI tomorrow, but that could also include some of the guys who were on the bench in Munich. We’ll try to maintain the rhythm of some guys and give the others some game time. Schalke will come here and give everything. We have to be ready for that. If you play at half throttle, you get injured. I’m expecting us to be 100 percent there and to win our final home game in front of our great fans.”

Coach’s view: Schalke

Thomas Reis: "We know we haven't played well away from home, but have done a lot of things better this year, so why can't we win this game? I wouldn't need to bother travelling to Leipzig if I didn't have any hope. Leipzig have a cup final to play after this game, so maybe their focus will mainly be on that. Whether or not they play to their best is up to us. We need to play our own game and know what result we need."

Watch: Decision Day at Both Ends

The title, Europe, relegation – there’s still so much left to be decided at both ends of the table on the final day of the Bundesliga season.

RB Leipzig: personnel

It's as trouble-free off the pitch as on it for Leipzig at the moment. Only long-term absentee Peter Gulacsi - who has returned to goalkeeper training after his cruciate ligament injury - is missing, with striker Timo Werner (pictured) available again after illness. Expect to see the subs bench fully utilised as Rose looks to keep his team both fresh but also in the groove ahead of the DFB Cup final.

RB Leipzig: form

Marco Rose's charges have taken four wins in a row in a late-season surge that has guaranteed a top four-spot already. How much of that momentum will be retained with Champions League football ensured next season is a key question.

Schalke: personnel

Thomas Reis has a few considerations for the must-win clash. Centre-back Moritz Jenz is suspended, as is attacker Simon Terodde. Marcin Kaminski is expected to slot into the back four, while Ralf Fährmann could be preferred to Alexander Schwolow in goal if fully fit. Marius Bülter (pictured), Schalke's top scorer this season, returns after suspension.

Schalke: form

Schalke have won three of their past five Bundesliga matches as they battle to avoid relegation. Not a bad record, but the form book would traditionally count little in this kind of decisive final day clash - they simply have to summon up everything in their power to win!

RB Leipzig: probable XI

Blaswich - Henrichs, Orban (c), Gvardiol, Halstenberg - Szoboszlai, Laimer, Schlager, Olmo - Nkunku, Werner

RB Leipzig: out

Gulacsi (knee)

Schalke: probable XI

Fährmann (c) - Brunner, van den Berg, Kaminski, Matriciani - Kral, Krauß - Karaman, Zalazar, Bülter - Polter

Schalke: out

Heekeren (cruciate ligament), Jenz (suspended), Kozuki (ankle), Terodde (suspended), Uronen (muscular)

The Royal Blues were swept aside when the teams last met back in January, Dani Olmo scoring one and providing two assists in a one-sided victory.

Bogey team

Anniversary on the cards

Rose on a roll

Since taking the Leipzig reins in September last year, no other Bundesliga club have earned as many points as Rose's charges (58).

Watch: Schalke 2-2 Frankfurt

Recap the highlights as Schalke earned a potentially priceless point with a late equaliser to claim a 2-2 draw against Eintracht Frankfurt last weekend.

Omens

Leipzig have won each of the last four meetings with Schalke by a combined scoreline of 18-1. Furthermore, Royal Blues supremo Thomas Reis has lost all three games against Leipzig as a coach, his sides conceding 10 goals in that period and scoring just once.

Record in sight for Leipzig

Marco Rose's side could earn their 13th home win in 2022/23, which would represent a single-season best mark for the club.

Schalke must avoid defeat

If Schalke, currently in 17th place, lose this game then they will be relegated for the fifth time in the club's history.
