Eighteen-year-old Tel thumps an unstoppable effort into the bottom corner, after a great bit of combination play with Davies on the left. Werder just didn't pick him up.

Sane at the double!
Game, set and match for the defending champions. Brilliant first-touch football involving Müller and Choupo-Moting culminates in a fabulous first-time finish, and second goal of the night, for Sane.

Mazraoui!
The Bayern right-back only has Pavlenka to beat, but the Bremen stopper gets down well to prevent a third Bayern goal.

Triple change
Kane's told he can go back on, but not for long. What a debut - an assist, goal and superb all-round performance as the lone striker. Coman and Musiala also make way, giving the Bremen backline some welcome relief. Messrs Tel, Choupo-Moting and Müller are on. Talk about strength in depth!

Further changes
Kownacki, a summer signing from Bundesliga 2's Fortuna Düsseldorf, and teenager Opitz are on for Bremen. Tuchel also shuffles his pack, with new recruit Laimer in for Goretzka in midfield.
75'
Kane gets his goal!
There it is - a debut Bundesliga goal for the England captain! Davies races away and finds Kane completely unmarked between the Bremen centre-backs. He controls it well, feigns to shoot and dispatches from inside the box on his right foot, courtesy of a deflection off Pieper. Harsh on Bremen - they've played so well since the restart.
70'
Kane again!
Coman spots the run of Kane into the Bremen penalty box, but Friedl does enough to prevent him making a full connection with his left-footed shot on the run.
69'
Coman!
Musiala slips as Bayern threaten in the final third. Coman picks it up, but he's under heavy pressure and scoops the ball over from 15 yards.
69'
Changes
Kim, who was doing military service back in his native Korea Republic over the summer, makes way at the back for Matthijs de Ligt. Bremen introduce fresh legs in midfield, in the form of Groß and Schmid.
67'
Wide from Kimmich!
Coman's at it again, this time linking up with Musiala. The ball's shifted back inside for Kimmich, but his first-time strike is always heading away from goal.

Stage!
Ducksch and Füllkrug make a nuisance of themselves as Werder go route one. It's half cleared to Stage, who thunders a rising strike just wide from 18 yards. A roar goes up around the ground - the Bremen fans believe!
61'
Kane!
Almost for the England star, whose goal-bound shot from inside the Werder area is brilliantly turned round the post by Pavlenka.
60'
Bremen change
Weiser, a doubt before the game, is replaced by the quicker and more attack-minded Burke. Can he keep Davies at bay?
58'
Goretzka!
Coman returns the favour, feeding Davies for an inviting cross from the left. Goretzka meets it in acrobatic fashion, but Friedl gets in the way!
57'
Off the post!
Not for the first time, Bremen are undone by the Davies-Coman connection. Coman proceeds to drive inside, before curling an effort against the foot of the upright. Pavlenka was beaten all ends up!
56'
Proceed with caution
Moments after tracking back to deny Ducksch a clear sight of the Bayern goal, Kim goes into the book for a deliberate foul on Füllkrug. Fellow Bundesliga debutant Lynen then follows suit, upending the majestic Musiala.

51'
Goretzka chance!
Bayern turn defence into attack in the blink of an eye. Musiala's quick feet allow Goretzka to pull away in midfield - he continues his run, but can't bring Mazraoui's inch-perfect low cross under wraps. Had he succeeded, Pavlenka would have been in trouble.
49'
Füllkrug!
Bremen have come out all guns blazing as Füllkrug shoots over from inside the Bayern area. Can they capitalise on their encouraging start to the second 45?
47'
Chance!
Werder come again with Weiser. He finds Füllkrug, who slides it between the legs of Kim and into the six-yard box. Bittencourt's at full stretch and pokes the ball narrowly wide of the left-hand post. Warning signs for Bayern early in this second half!
47'
Over!
Bright start from Bremen as Weiser thumps a bouncing ball high over Ulreich's goal from the edge of the area. Bayern's defence looked uncomfortable for a moment.
46'
Here we go again!
No changes by either side. Can Bremen find a route back, or will Bayern turn their dominance into goals?

Weiser does really well to stop Davies from picking up possession deep in Werder territory, just as Bayern were threatening to overload the hosts' defence.

Kane threatening
Bremen prevent Kane meeting a Kimmich free-kick, albeit at the expense of a corner. Kane makes contact with Sane's ensuing cross, but doesn't catch it cleanly, allowing Pavlenka to gather. The Bayern No.9 is kicking himself!
21'
Mazraoui!
Inches wide now from the Bayern right-back, whose fierce shot across goal grazes the outside of the upright. This could get messy for Werder...
18'
Musiala!
Bayern's title-winning saviour sets off on one of his trademark runs, jinking his way through the Bremen midfield like it's not even there. He tries to pass it beyond Pavlenka, but can't find the target.
15'
Defence into attack
Bremen go on the attack as a ball is whipped into the box towards Füllkrug, but Ulreich gets two hands on it. He immediately launches the ball up field for Sane, whose attempted forward pass is cut out by Lynen.
13'
Knocking at the door
Another ball into the feet of Kane. He looks for Musiala, but the Bayern youngster can't get there before Pavlenka. The record champions are purring as an attacking unit.
11'
Kane heavily involved
Davies puts on the afterburners and finds Kane, who's upended by Veljkovic around 25 yards from goal. It's a promising position for the visitors, but Kane's effort doesn't beat the Werder wall. Still, Bayern's new striker looks right at home in this team. Funny to think he only made the switch last week!

Advantage Bayern!
Dream start for the defending champions. A Bremen attack breaks down, allowing Musiala to instigate a quick breakaway. Sane trades passes on halfway with Kane and races away, before slotting past Pavlenka from inside the Werder box. A debut assist for Bayern's new man! Will he get a goal?

Minute's applause
The Weser-Stadion takes a minute to remember Horst-Dieter Höttges, who passed away at 79 in July. Hötgges, who was member of the West Germany team that won the 1974 World Cup and lost to England in the 1966 final, made 420 league appearances for Werder in the 1960s and 70s.

Bogey team
Ominously, Bremen have lost 14 of their last 15 Bundesliga home games against Bayern, drawing the other one. They last beat the record champions at the Weserstadion on 21 October 2006 (3-1), when Kane was 13...
Not the best start
Bremen finished 13th on their return to the Bundesliga last season, albeit only three points clear of the relegation play-off spot. Worringly, they were knocked out of the DFB Cup in the first round last weekend, blowing a 1-0 lead in a 3-2 loss to lower-league Viktoria Köln.
Kim praise
Tuchel is delighted to have acquired the services of Kim from Serie A champions Napoli. "I love him, I love him," Bayern's head coach told bundesliga.com. "He's so calm, so straightforward - his expression, his awareness, his game. A pass is a pass. A pass is not fancy, it's a pass with his inside foot. First touch is control, second touch is a pass. It's at the right tempo, it's not too hard, it's not too slow, it doesn’t bounce, it's not flashy. It's so nice because it's exactly what you want"

Englishmen in the Bundesliga
Jude Bellingham, Jadon Sancho, Kevin Keegan - will Kane add his name to the Bundesliga's goal-scoring annals? With 213 goals in 320 English Premier League games, as well as 58 in 84 internationals, it's a given. The real question is: can Bremen keep him out?

Kane starts for Bayern, the England captain making his Bundesliga debut. Jamal Musiala keeps his place in the No.10 role, with Thomas Müller among the substitutes. There's also a first start for Min-jae Kim, the South Korean parterning Dayot Upamecano in the centre of defence. Matthijs de Ligt is on the bench alongside Benjamin Pavard. Noussair Mazraoui starts at right-back. Belgian midfielder Senne Lynen, meanwhile, is the only new face in a Bremen XI spearheaded by last season's joint-top scorer, Füllkrug.

What they're saying - Bremen
"It's a new season and things have changed at Bayern as well," said Bremen head coach Ole Werner. "Our approach is simple: we're the underdogs, so have to work hard out of possession, stay compact and be relentless, defend well and take our chances when we get them. We're definitely very excited. It's the toughest possible game for us. Both teams have not settled into the season yet, so playing Bayern early on doesn't give us an advantage nor a disadvantage."
What they're saying - Bayern
"I would have been sat in front of the television as a kid for a game like this," said Thomas Tuchel at his pre-match press conference on Thursday. "There's going to be a great atmosphere, it's an absolute classic. I love the Weserstadion. We are expecting a feisty match. Thomas Müller and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting could both be in the squad, but we need to wait for the last training session today to confirm that. Bouna Sarr, Noussair Mazraoui and Serge Gnabry are still doubts, so we will have to wait and see."

Historic fixture
This will be the 113th Bundesliga meeting between these teams, making it the most-played fixture in league history.
Good omen (for Bremen)
This will only be Werder's second appearance in an official season-opener. Their first was in 2004 when they beat Schalke 1-0.
Good omen (for Bayern)
The reigning Bundesliga champions have never lost an official opening game of a season - a feature that has existed since 2002. There have been 16 victories for the defending champs, with just five draws.
