The Foals had led 3-1 and - after turning the game on its head - had look odds on to pick up all three points before substitute Noah Weißhaupt pulled a goal back for the home side, which set up Grifo to steal the show.

Streich's view on Gladbach

"We weren't without chances against Paderborn [in the DFB Cup loss] but have to improve some things against Gladbach, especially our duels. Gladbach went through a dip, had some upheaval in the club, there were high expectations placed on the team, but now they're stabilising again. They were very solid in the last two games. We now also need that stability, but also courage and mentality so we can get past them."

“Freiburg are a challenge for every team, both at home and away, and of course they were already a strong home team in their old stadium, because they have a very good connection to the spectators and have steadily improved over the years. So it’s a challenge for every team to play in Freiburg."
