Full-time: Stuttgart 2-0 Bremen

Deniz Undav and Serhou Guirassy got the goals in a dominant win that keeps Stuttgart third. They were superb value for the points, with 13th-placed Bremen only really threatening in an attacking sense in the closing stages.

Chances!

Nübel shovels Schmid's long-range shot behind for a corner. Weiser's ensuing cross is met by substitute Kownacki, but his header is too close to the goalkeeper.
89'

Time added on

Bremen have five minutes to find an unlikely way back into the game. Not that the clock stopped them coming from 2-0 down to beat Dortmund 3-2 last season.
87'

Good effort!

Strong finish from Bremen as Stage collects Njinmah's pull-back and drives a low shot at Nübel from inside the area. That's the first meaningful save the Stuttgart keeper's had to make!
83'

Njinmah!

That would have made things interesting as Njinmah dinks an effort wide of the far post after getting away from Anton.

Attacking changes

Bremen will be glad to see the back of Silas - he's run them ragged. Führich also heads off, with Leweling and Jeong on for the final 11 minutes or so.

Guirassy gets his goal!

A naughty Panenka down the middle, with Zetterer having already gone to his left. That's now 16 goals and counting this season for the Stuttgart man, who's been desperately unlucky not to score from open play so far today.

Changes

Undav and Mittelstädt get the hook for Stuttgart, with Stiller and Vagnoman the fresh legs. Deman is on at left-back for Bremen, meanwhile, in place of Agu.
69'

Over!

Stuttgart move it quickly from left to right with Undav. Silas's first touch isn't the best, though, and he sends a mishit effort into the ground and over.
69'

Njinmah concern

The Bremen sub needs treatment after a collision with Mittelstadt. He's only been on the pitch for six minutes, but looks like he'll try to run it off.

Ten shots, five on target - but only one goal. Will Stuttgart be made to pay for these missed opportunities?

Double change

Ducksch has had nothing to feed on and it's been a tough shift at the office for Veljkovic. Njinmah and Stark are on.
61'

Another Guirassy effort

Stuttgart's top scorer cannot believe his luck as his latest attempt is deflected narrowly wide off an opposition player's standing foot.
58'

Guirassy on the hunt

Zetterer's pass out to a defender is loose. Guirassy makes his move on the edge of the area, but it's cleared before he can weigh up a shot.
55'

Getting closer

Guirassy rounds Zetterer, but a defender gets back to block before an offside flag goes up against the Stuttgart No.9.
51'

Wide!

Guirassy latches onto Silas's clever back-heeled pass, but curls his strike wide of the far post. He could have had a hat-trick already!
49'

That's more like it!

Better from Werder as Weiser, on the left-hand side of the box, tries to sneak in a shot at the near post. It's deflected wide for a corner that's straight into the arms of Nübel.
46'

Under way again

Can Stuttgart make more of their chances, or will Werder find a way back into this?

Silas is really in the mood today. He runs at the retreating Bremen defence, before finding Undav. It's touched on to Guirassy, who shoots over under pressure from a white shirt. Incredible that Stuttgart are only a goal to the good...

Bremen can't live with the Stuttgart attack as Silas runs onto Guirassy's through-ball. He tries to knock it past the keeper, but Friedl slides in to deflect it over Zetterer and narrowly wide of the upright.

Denied!

Here come Stuttgart again with Silas. He feeds the run of Guirassy, who is foiled at close quarters by the on-rushing Zetterer.
11'

Inches away!

Undav's at it again, exchanging passes with Guirassy and lining up a shot that takes a deflection in front of the six-yard box. Guirassy tries to adjust his feet in time, but can't make it happen. Massive let-off for Bremen.
9'

Undav!

Führich plays a short corner to the near post for Undav, whose first-time shot goes just wide with Zetterer rooted to the spot.
6'

Chance!

Führich skates though the Bremen midfield and feeds the run of Silas into the box. He loses his footing in front of Zetterer, though, toeing the ball wide as he goes to ground.
3'

Stuttgart probing

Undav drops deep and to the right to pick up possession. He immediately looks for Guirassy, who holds off his marker and lays the ball off for Silas. His clipped pass finds Mittelstädt in the area, but his shot from the left is charged down.

Werner's view on Stuttgart

"They've created a lot of momentum and confidence from a tough situation. They also have good individual quality with the players, who are the right fit for the coach's style. We need our best possible performance and to play to our strengths. We're going to Stuttgart with the attitude of winning the game, but also knowing it won't be easy."
camera-photo

Hoeneß's view on Bremen

"Bremen are capable of quite a lot. Of course, we've taken a very close look at Bremen. They're a team who can play good football and have some really good footballers in their ranks. When I think of [Mitchell] Weiser, [Leonardo] Bittencourt, [Romano] Schmid, but also [Marvin] Ducksch up front, they have some attacking quality there. That's why we have to be really well prepared. Nevertheless, a late kick-off under the floodlights, at home with a sold-out crowd, we're confident that with a good attitude and great motivation we can win."
