Full-time: Eintracht 5-1 Bayern

A famous result for the hosts and a 25th Bundesliga victory against Bayern. Coach Dino Toppmöller demanded a response from the previously faltering Eagles, and boy did he get one. Goals from Marmoush, Larsson, Knauff and a Dina Ebimbe double left the visitors utterly stunned, Thomas Tuchel's side leaving Frankfurt with a first Bundesliga reverse of the season.

More changes

Buta and Chaibi walk towards the touchline, the pair soaked in rain and sweat. Big, big effort from those two and a deserved break. On come Baum and Ngankam for the hosts.

Kane has a pop

A low, bending Harry Kane effort from just outside the area is palmed wide by Trapp. The corner comes to nothing.

Eintracht break and the fans are on their feet again. Chaibi is there in support as the pair race towards the Bayern goal. Nkounkou goes it alone and shoots high and wide.

Frankfurt fans want more

The home supporters are bouncing and chanting for one more goal. They will remember this for a very, very long time. It's been a superb performance by the Eagles today, and just what their coach asked for after five games without a victory in al competitions.

Worth the wait for Eintracht

Following a long wait while VAR conducted a check, the referee points to the centre to signal an Ansgar Knauff goal. The winger pushed himself into a move involving Götze and Marmoush, the latter latching onto his teammate's pass. Knauff had designs on a goal, though, and so raced onto the ball before lashing past Neuer.

Eintracht on fire

It's FOUR for Frankfurt. Upamecano fancies a foray forward but the big defender's control lets him down and suddenly Eintracht are on the counter-attack with Chaibi. Here we go!

Eintracht Frankfurt and Bayern Munich make their way out onto the pitch! We're all set to go. Can the hosts break this negative run of results or will the defending champions make it seven top flight victories in a row?

Teams in tunnel

The countdown is on as both sets of players line up inside the vast tunnel inside this hugely impressive ground ...

Packed house

Both home and away fans are creating a superb atmosphere in the cold at the Deutsche Bank Park. We await the appearance of the teams as the tunes belt out inside the stadium.

Beware Bayern

No other team has won more times [19] at the home of Eintracht in the Bundesliga than Bayern Munich while in Leroy Sané, the Bavarian giants have a player who can historically boast four goals and six goal involvements against today's hosts in the German top flight. Frankfurt have been warned.

Can Eagles take flight?

Frankfurt are on a worrying run of five games without a win in all competitions, losing their last four on the bounce. Understandably, coach Dino Toppmöller wants to see a response from his side today: “We want to show a clear reaction because there hasn't been enough effort in the last two games and we've been outrun and outfought by the opponents," the tactician explained. "Everyone can convey from the first second against Bayern that they're up for it; that's what it's about, nothing else."

Bayern have seniority

Eintracht's starting XI has an average age of 25.1 years old while visiting Bayern's average is 28.8 years old. Will visiting seniority tell today? We're soon to find out!

Don't mention Saarbrücken

As mentioned, Frankfurt were on the end of a DFB Cup shock during the week with third-tier Saarbrücken knocking the Eagles out of the tournament in the last 16. A round earlier, the Saarland-based side eliminated Bayern. Neither side will want to hear a single word uttered about Saarbrücken today.
camera-photo

Bayern welcome Davies

Last week's postponement of the Bayern vs. Union Berlin game means Thomas Tuchel's side are in Bundesliga action for the first time in 15 days today. A couple of weeks ago, the defending champions downed Cologne by 1-0 and the one change today from the side that started that victory sees Alphonso Davies come in for Konrad Laimer.
camera-photo

Super Mario returns

Mario Götze may have been in Frankfurt's first XI in the DFB Cup loss against Saarbrücken last Wednesday, but the ex-Bayern schemer is starting in the Bundesliga today for the first time since Matchday 6. Elsewhere, the hosts are showing three changes here compared to midweek with Buta, Knauff and Larsson in for Hasebe, Max and Nkounkou.

Tuchel's view of Frankfurt

"When I analyse Frankfurt, I don't see the recent run of defeats as defining. They are a very good, fast and flexible team with a clear playing style. They favour attractive and technical football. It's a very emotional atmosphere there. We expect Frankfurt to play at the highest level and the fans to push their team. We need to be prepared."
camera-photo

Toppmöller's view of Bayern

“It’s a special game for all of us against an extremely demanding opponent who have an incredible amount of quality. Maybe it’s exactly the right game for us. It’s a chance for us to show we can do better against the best team in Germany. There’s no special plan [for Harry Kane]. We all know that he’s got unbelievable quality. He’s already paved the way for Bayern to win a number of times. We can’t allow him to receive any balls in the box, that will be the key."

England's finest

Kane established a new record with his strike against Cologne on Matchday 12 - with 18 league goals, he became the most prolific English goalscorer in Bundesliga history, ecplising the 17 scored by Kevin Keegan (78/79) and Jadon Sancho (19/20). He could even become the all-time leading English goalscorer in the Bundesliga in his debut season - Tony Woodcock scored 39 in 131 Bundesliga games for Cologne.
