Penalty?
Bynoe-Gittens draws the foul from Gamboa in the box - but this one will go to the VAR...
86'
Half chance!
Kwarteng races onto a pass into the Dortmund box, the Bochum sub firing a rising strike straight at Meyer. Nervy moment for the home fans!
83'
Defensive reinforcement
Veteran defender Hummels comes on for the final seven minutes or so, with Sancho making way in the Dortmund attack. Terzić does not want this one slip through his team's grasp.
82'
One-way traffic
Dortmund overload the Bochum area, but again the final ball isn't what it needs to be. Will the hosts be punished for not putting this game to bed?
80'
Nearly!
Reyna leads a Dortmund break. He could shoot, but instead puts it into the path of Bynoe-Gittens. The return pass is cut out, though.

Positive, attacking changes from Bochum. Can they snatch a point?
78'
Speculative
Respite for Bochum as Wittek sends an ambitious long-range strike straight at Meyer.
76'
Dortmund pushing for a third
Dortmund play it from left to right, with Reyna and Füllkrug helping it on to Bynoe-Gittens. He cuts inside, but his shot is blocked by an outstretched Bochum leg.
74'
Bochum hanging on
Bynoe-Gittens is at it again, the teen's weaving run causing panic for Bochum. Füllkrug touches his pass off for Reyna, who perhaps takes one touch too many and his eventual effort is blocked behind. Füllkrug then heads off target from the resultant corner.
73'
Füllkrug brace!
Immediate impact from Bynoe-Gittens, who opens up the Bochum defence on the right-hand side before nonchalantly slipping a pass to the byline for Sabitzer. He clips a cross into the penalty area, where Füllkrug rises highest to power a header past Riemann.
71'
Fresh legs
Bynoe-Gittens replaces Malen in the Dortmund attack. Can the young Englishman provide the spark BVB so desperately need?
69'
Oer, Mann!
The Bochum defender has pulled a hamstring. Gamboa is his replacement at right-back.
67'
Reyna on
Moukoko had been really lively in the last 10 minutes, but his game is done. Gio Reyna comes on as BVB revert to three behind central striker Füllkrug.
64'
Chance!
Malen beats his marker in the box and tries to feed the run of Moukoko, who's beaten to it by the back-tracking Losilla.
63'
Goal-saver!
Perhaps even a game-saving challenge from Maatsen as he slides in to hook the ball away from Bero in the six-yard box, following a defensive lapse. The Bochum man only had Meyer to beat.
60'
Mouko-no!
Brilliant bit of invention from Moukoko on the edge of the Bochum box. He juggles, spins and shoots goalwards, but Riemann throws himself to his right to push it clear. Xavi scored a similar goal for Leipzig last week - that effort would have been just as good on the Bundesliga magic scale.
59'
Caution
Wittek joins Malen in the book after a tactical foul on the Dutchman, just when BVB were poised to counter from that corner.
58'
Stong save!
Chance for Bochum as Stöger slips in Antwi-Adjei. He goes for power at the near post, with Meyer throwing up a steel-like wrist to turn the shot over.
57'
Right idea!
Sancho weaves some magic on the left. The initial cross towards Sabitzer is blocked into the path of Moukoko, but his first touch is heavy and he can't get a shot off in front of Riemann's goal.

Purposeful start from Dortmund as Maatsen gets into the box, sending a rising strike high over Riemann's goal.

What a clearance!
Wittek does his best impression of Superman to prevent Malen getting on the end of Sancho's superb left-wing cross. Heroic defending!
45'
Bochum are level!
Oh, dear. A miscommunication between Schlotterbeck and Meyer gifts Bochum the equaliser. Osterhage crosses towards the six-yard box after BVB fail to clear their lines. Meyer steps out to claim, only for the unwitting Schlotterback to slide in ahead of him and turn the ball into his own net.

Safe hands
Riemann's called on again, the Bochum keeper pouncing on Maatsen's teasing ball in from the left, with Malen lurking inside the six-yard box.
35'
Riemann with the stop
Bochum's No.1 gets across to tip Sabitzer's dipping free-kick behind for a corner. The Austrian takes and tries to find Süle, but it's cleared.
31'
Commentator's curse
Dortmund find joy again as Sabitzer pings a pass out to Sancho on the right. He feeds Fullkrüg, who touches it off to Moukoko on the penalty spot, before a white shirt intervenes. Just when we'd been bigging up the visitors' defensive efforts, BVB carve them open twice in quick succession!
29'
Denied!
Meunier gets in behind and tries to find Malen, but Bochum scramble back to clear before the Dutchman can take a swipe at the ball.

Defensive ranks to the fore
Despite conceding that early goal, Bochum are doing a very good job of keeping Sancho & Co. quiet in the Dortmund attack.

Maatsen goes on the overlap, the Chelsea loanee racing into the box and stinging the palms of Riemann.

Bochum going for it
Good pressure from Bochum as Antwi-Adjei's pace draws a crucial sliding challenge out of the covering Schlotterbeck. The visitors win another corner after BVB try to play out from the back, but this one's cleared.
8'
So close!
Bochum go up the other end and win a free-kick. Stöger's effort is deflected behind for a corner that the Bochum midfield whips across the face of goal. Masovic is in two minds, and can't make contact at the far post.

Füllkrug scores!
He scored from the spot last weekend in Cologne, and he's done it again at Signal Iduna Park. Brilliantly done, sending Riemann the wrong way. What a start for the hosts!

Physios on
There's a delay to proceedings as Riemann receives treatment for a leg wound. He took an accidental boot to the inside of his left thigh in that challenge.

Ping-pong in the Bochum half ends with Malen going through on goal. He goes round Riemann, who tries to pull out of the challenge but only succeeds in bringing the Dutchman down. Big chance for BVB to take an early lead...

Greetings from Dortmund!
Table talk
Leipzig's 5-2 loss to Stuttgart means Dortmund will move back into the top four if they avoid defeat. They're currently level on 33 points with last season's DFB Cup winners. Stuttgart are third on 37 points, 10 behind Bayern (47) and 12 adrift of leaders Leverkusen (49). Bochum begin the day in 14th (20 points), eight points clear of the bottom three.
More on those teams
Gregor Kobel and Julian Brandt miss out through illness, so Alexander Meyer starts in goal and Youssoufa Moukoko comes in to form a front two with Niclas Füllkrug. Niklas Süle captains the side, with Emre Can and Mats Hummels only fit enough for the bench. Marco Reus is also ill. As for Bochum, Thomas Letsch makes four changes to the Stuttgart win. Ivan Ordets, Maximilian Wittek, Kevin Stöger and ex-BVB reserves player Moritz Broschinski replace Bernardo, Noah Loosli, Philipp Förster and Gonçalo Paciência.

“Never again is now!”
Under this slogan, German professional football is commemorating the victims of National Socialism on and around 27 January, the date of liberation of the Auschwitz concentration camp. This is the 20th year in which the DFL and the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 clubs have been involved in the “day of commemoration in German football” in cooperation with the “!Nie Wieder” (“!Never Again”) initiative. In light of current events, the day of commemoration around Matchdays 19 and 20 (26–28 January and 2–4 February) will focus on the topic of antisemitism.

Something in the Ruhr air
With two wins and a 7-0 cumulative goal difference, Dortmund have made their best start to a calendar year since 2013. Local rivals Bochum are also unbeaten in 2024 (W1), and have lost just two of their last 10 Bundesliga matches (W4).
