Wolves in front!
Incredible. Jonas Wind had netted his second double in the space of a week and Wolfsburg now lead in Cologne. The forward slots home at the second time of asking and the Wolves are edging towards a second successive Bundesliga win this term.

Whirl wind
Jonas Wind has now scored all of Wolfsburg's goals this season. The Danish striker has added to his double against Hedenheim last weekend with one more against Cologne that levels the scores at the RheinEnergieStadion.

Waldschmidt ripper
He's on loan from Wolfsburg and he's only gone and scored a belter against his parent club! Luca Waldschmidt cracks one into the corner from distance and then throws his hands up in the air in the non-celebratory fashion.

Cologne unchanged
Cologne coach Steffen Baumgart sticks with the starting XI that began last weekend's last-gasp 1-0 loss against Borussia Dortmund today. His opposite number Niko Kovac opts for just one change to the team that started the 2-0 win against Heidenheim with Nicolas Cozza replacing Ridle Baku, who drops to the bench.

Wolfsburg team news
Wolfsburg threw four of their new summer signings straight into the mix last weekend and having all performed admirably against Heidenheim, Cedric Zesiger, Joakim Maehle, Lovro Majer and Vaclav Cerny are expected to go again against Cologne. Maxi Arnold could return from illness but there's no place for the injured Kilian Fischer or Lukas Nmecha. Recent arrival Rogerio is suspended.

When Wolfsburg silenced Cologne
Hungry Wolves
Wolfsburg began three of the last five Bundesliga seasons with back-to-back opening wins and they will look to add to that impressive statistic on their travels this week.

Watch: Dortmund 1-0 Cologne
Hoping for home revival
Cologne will hope to start afresh in terms of consigning a worrying home trend last season to the past. Steffen Baumgart's side only won one of their last seven games at the RheinEnergieStadion in 2022/23.

Last time out
Cologne were oh so close to winning an admirable point at Borussia Dortmund last weekend. Donyell Malen's 88th minute winner for BVB mean the Billy-Goats will be keen to bounce back against the visiting Wolves this week. For their part, Nico Kovac's charges were buoyed by an opening-day triumph at home to Heidenheim on Matchday 1.
