First win for Leipzig
As cliched as it sounds, that really was a game of two halves. Stuttgart were very impressive in the first 45 minutes and deservedly went ahead through Guirassy. However, the hosts staged an astonishing second-half fightback, which was instigated by Henrichs capitalising on a defensive mix-up, and they never looked back. A blistering, unforgiving display after the break hands Leipzig their first Bundesliga win of 2023/24.

Fingertip save!
Jamie Leweling, who's only been on the pitch a matter of seconds, curls a brilliant low shot from the edge of the area. It looks like it's going to creep into the far corner but Blaswich reacts brilliantly to tip wide for a corner.

Simons' first Bundesliga goal!
The wind is billowing in those Leipzig sails right now. Openda sends Simons clean through on goal and after his initial shot is well saved by Nübel, the rebound falls back at the feet of the attacker and he drills a low shot into the net.

This one counts!
Leipzig do have the lead now! Simons feeds the ball into Olmo's feet on the edge of the Stuttgart box. He's got his back to goal and Anton behind him, but he just rolls his marker and smashes a left-footed effort into the bottom corner.

Advantage Stuttgart
It's been an impressive first half from Stuttgart, and it's hard to say they don't deserve it. VfB have been solid at the back and look extremely well organised all over the pitch. They were ruthless in capitalising on the mistake from Raum and are on course for a second straight league win.

Big save from Nübel
Openeda, who's been kept quite for most of the game so far, suddenly finds himself bearing down on goal with only Nübel to beat. The VfB stopper makes himself big though, and makes the save.

Stuttgart lead!
Guirassy puts the visitors in front with his third Bundesliga goal of the season! Leipzig try to play their way out from the back but Raum's pass inside is sloppy and Stuttgart intercept. It's played forward to Guirassy, who skips past Simakan and buries it into the bottom corner past Blaswich!

Over from Schlager
Raum's cross from the left i sjust too high for Poulsen in the middle, but it runs through to Olmo at the back post. He cuts the ball back to Schalger, arriving in a central position, but the Austrian doesn't make a clean connection with his weaker right foot and blazes well over.
29'
Wide from Openda!
This is a good chance for Leipzig as Openda receives possession just outside the box. He slinks past Zagadou and gets a shot away but it whizzes narrowly past the base of the post.

Simakan down

Too intricate
The hosts get forward well and play some quick, one-touch passing around the edge of a packed Stuttgart box. Eventually Olmo finds some space, but Führich quickly darts out to nick the ball off his toe and clear the danger.

No way through
After the early flurry of shots, we haven't had a goal attempt in the last 15 minutes as the teams cancel each other out and try to assert themselves on the game.

Raum probing
The Germaby left-back tries to create something on the left, twisting and turning before digging out a cross. It's deflected out for a corner though, and again the delivery is lacking.

Double chance!
Führich drives forward down the left, cuts inside and unleashes a powerful shot from the edge of the box. Blaswich gets down well to his right to parry but the ball falls at the feet of Guirassy, who snatches at the rebound somewhat and puts it over the bar.

Promising position
Leipzig win a free-kick about 10 yards outside the box, pretty centrally. Olmo's effort strikes the wall though and eventually the visitors clear.
3'
On the front foot
The hosts are pushing forward early on and pinning Stuttgart back in their own half. They win an early corner but Simons' delivery is poor and cleared at the near post.
