Full-time: Stuttgart 3-1 Mainz
Die Schwaben pick up all three pojnts with a dominant display. After a strong start from both teams, the hosts struck twice in first-half stoppage time as Maximilian Mittelstädt and Jamie Leweling beat Robin Zentner. After the break, Deniz Undav netted his 14th goal of the Bundesliga campaign and, while Ludovic Ajorque was able to pull one back late on, it proved to be nothing but a consolation.

Mainz pull one back
Maybe it isn't over just yet! Ajorque is the goalscorer, heading past Bredlow with a cushioned header. Do they still have time to nick a point?
75'
Stuttgart make it three!
Guirassy may be Stuttgart's top goalscorer this term, but Undav isn't far behind as he nets his 14th strike of this Bundesliga season. The German runs onto a long pass, beats Tom Krauß all ends up and buries past Zentner with aplomb. Surely no way back for Mainz now!
71'
Ajorque wide!
That is the kind of opportunity the big Frenchman likes! He meets a cross into the box with his head and, although he can only direct it narrowly wide of the post, that is a clear of example of how Mainz can hurt their opponents.

Guirassy effort held
The Guinea centre-forward doesn't get enough on is, and Zentner is able to gather with ease.

Barreiro denied
A rare opportunity for Die Nullfünfer as the substitute shoots straight a Bredlow in a crowded penalty area.

Millot fires over
The Frenchman looks to curl one into the top corner from outside the area but can't keep his effort down as it flies over the bar.

Guirassy returns
After five games away due to a combination of injury and the Africa Cup of Nations, Guirassy makes his Stuttgart return. He receives a rousing reception from the home supporters!

Half-time: Stuttgart 2-0 Mainz
Sebastian Hoeneß's men are sitting pretty at the interval as they lead by two goals. Maximilian Mittelstädt broke the deadlock in the third minute of stoppage time with a controlled volley, before Jamie Leweling doubled the advantage shortly before the half-time whistle courtesy of an emphatic finish from close range.

Stuttgart two to the good!
Sebastian Hoeneß will be a happy man as his side double their advantage. It is a lovely finish from Leweling, who controls a high pass before stroking beyond Zentner and into the corner.

Stuttgart in front!
Die Schwaben take the lead! Stenzel's cross makes it through a whole host of bodies in the box to Mittelstädt, who takes a touch and buries into the corner.

Huge chance!
Stuttgart really should be in front! A quick break releases Führich and, with Undav alongside him to make it a two-on-one against Zentner, the opener appears inevitable. However, instead of passing to his teammate, the winger decides to try and go around the goalkeeper, who gets a touch to the ball and allows two Mainz defenders to clear the danger. Undav, it is fair to say, was not happy!

Karazor shoots wide
The midfielder works some space in the box, but his effort goes narrowly wide of the post instead.
25'
Papela chance!
The midfielder is found unmarked at the back post by Ngankam's lovely cross. However, although he is on the stretch, he really should do better than bundling the ball wide.

Post
A frantic opening to this encounter as Mainz hit the woodwork at the other end. It would have taken something special for Caci to beat Bredlow from there, but he does well to get something on it and give the shot-stopper something to think about.

Early chance
The hosts need just 25 seconds to create their first opportunity and, considering his current form, you would expect Undav to sweep Millot's effort beyond Zentner. However, he shoots straight at the goalkeeper.
