Frimpong: "It feels amazing"

Asked how it felt to be a Bundesliga champion, Leverkusen full-back Jeremie Frimpong responded: "It's an amazing feeling [especially as] this club has never won the Bundesliga before. So, to to be part of it for the first time is an amazing feeling with such amazing players and such amazing staff coaches. It's just an unbelievable feeling right now."

The new Bundesliga champions have been receiving plenty of plaudits on their maiden top-fight title victory. "FC Bayern congratulates Bayer 04 Leverkusen on winning the German championship," the outgoing champions posted on their twitter account. Meanwhile, former Bundesliga winner Bastian Schweinsteiger tweeted, "The Werkself have developed greatly under Xabi Alonso and have dominated the Bundesliga this season. An impressive achievement!"

Bayer Leverkusen's title win means Bayern Munich's incredible run of 11 Bundesliga championship triumphs comes to an end. The last team other than Bayern to win the Bundesliga before today was Borussia Dortmund back in 2012.
