Heidenheim equalise!
Incredible! Kleindienst brings the visitors level. What a comeback!

Decision overturned!
Heidenheim do have a penalty, after all! Haller's booked for that foul, and Kleindienst has the chance to level for Heidenheim...

Füllkrug on
That's the end of Haller's night. It's been a tough night at the office for him. Füllkrug's on for his BVB debut...

Penalty not given!
Haller's touch is heavy in his own area. Beste's onto it in a flash, before being upended by the BVB striker. The whistle initially sounds for a penalty, but the Heidenheim man involved in the incident was in an offside position. Huge let-off for BVB!

Free header!
Another Beste corner catches out Dortmund. Maloney's unmarked at the far post, but heads down and into a ruck of BVB shirts.

Füllkrug time?
With only one goal in it, will Terzic turn to new signing Füllkrug in a bid to make the points safe?
69'
Missed opportunity
Confusion in the ranks as Sabitzer tries to squeeze a pass over to Malen in the six-yard box. Striker's instinct sees Haller make a move for it, though, and a heavy touch takes it away from his unmarked teammate.

Changes
Terzic responds to that goal by replacing Adeyemi with summer signing Felix Nmecha. Dovedan's also come on for the hosts, who are in the ascendancy. BVB look vulnerable...

Heidenheim halve the deficit!
Well, well! Wolf gifts possession to Theuerkauf. He chips it into the box for Dinkci, who controls with his chest before thrashing with unerring accuracy into the bottom corner. Game on!
55'
Malen denied!
Müller dives to his right as Malen connects with Brandt's lay-off, but manages to block with his trailing leg. Sabitzer is not far away with the rebound. All-action stuff here in the second half!
54'
Disallowed Heidenheim goal!
Now here's a talking point. Maloney heads Beste's in-swinging free-kick goalwards, forcing Kobel into a full-stretch save. Beck heads the rebound against the upright from point-bank range, before Mainka steers in the follow-up. However, following a lengthy check, the goal is ruled out for an earlier handball against Pieringer.

Chance not taken!
Dortmund got straight on the attack. There's the makings of a two-on-one, but Adeyemi's first touch is heavy and Heidenheim can clear. Malen was all alone in the box to his right.
49'
Only Kobel to beat!
Kleindienst might not get a better chance as he receives Dinkci's superbly weighted pass over the top of the Dortmund defence. The Heidenheim striker perhaps doesn't realise just how much time and space he has, though, and sends a tame first-time effort straight at Kobel.
48'
Adeyemi!
Wolf drives in off the right-hand side, before clipping a ball towards the penalty spot. Adeyemi connects with a diving header, but it's too close to Müller.
46'
Positive change
Marvin Pieringer, who scored against Hoffenheim last week, is on for Heidenheim. The former Schalke striker replaces the subdued Denis Thomalla. BVB are unchanged.

Denied
Malen's involved again for Dortmund, but Beste gets his body in the way before the Dutchman can get a foot on the ball.
43'
Malen!
Heidenheim are undone as Bensebaini and Haller combine to tee up Malen from 18 yards. He strikes across the ball, but it spins over the crossbar. That one was asking for the laces!
42'
Lucky escape
Maloney slides in and catches Haller on the ankle, but the referee gives him the benefit of the doubt.
39'
Warning shots
Dinkci sends an ambitious effort over from range. BVB go up the other end with Malen, who arrows one low and hard at Müller from 20 yards.
36'
Side netting!
Dinkci concedes a free-kick in a dangerous position, just left of centre on the edge of the Heidenheim area. Malen's effort hits the wall and falls kindly for Wolf, who doesn't quite catch it and can only find the side netting. He was offside, in any case.
27'
Malen!
Malen gets off a shot from a tight angle that Müller does well to push behind. Dortmund's flying Dutchman has had a hand in 15 Bundesliga goals in 2023, scoring in both league matches so far this season. Can he make it three on the spin?
25'
Close!
Almost a third Dortmund goal. Wolf's the architect on the right-hand side; his cross is touched agonisingly wide of the far post by Sabitzer, who has his head in his hands.
24'
Denied
Heidenheim threaten from a corner, but BVB get it clear. The ball's returned with interest, albeit into the arms of Kobel. It's going to be a tough shift for striker Kleindienst...

Sabitzer chance!
Schlotterbeck bends a superb pass in behind the Heidenheim defence for the run of Sabitzer. He takes it in his stride, but can't beat the on-rushing Müller. Excellent goalkeeping.

Expertly done by the Dortmund captain. He waits for Müller to make his move, before stroking the ball into the opposite corner. This could get ugly for Heidenheim.

Right idea!
Much more like it from Heidenheim. Traore gets in behind Bensebaini, but his inviting near-post cross is well dealt with on the stretch by Schlotterbeck.
7'
Dortmund lead!
Horrible start for Heidenheim. Malen asks the question with a cross that's headed out towards the edge of the area. Can flies in to redirect the ball to Brandt, who swipes an exquisite finish in off the underside of the bar. There's a check for a handball against Can, but his hand was in a natural position. That'll settle the nerves!

Haller to fire again?
Sebastien Haller hit nine Bundesliga goals after returning from testicular cancer in the new year, but is yet to score in two league games so far this season. He did, however, grab a brace in the opening round of the DFB Cup. How long will the Ivorian No.9 get, before Terzic looks at introducing Füllkrug to the fold?

More on those teams
Niclas Füllkrug starts on the BVB bench following his surprise move from Bremen yesterday. Niklas Süle comes in for Mats Hummels, meanwhile, after the veteran defender only played 45 minutes in Bochum. Julian Ryerson is back, but only fit enough for a place among the substitutes - so Marius Wolf continues at right-back. As for Heidenheim, Norman Theuerkauf replaces Jonas Föhrenbach at left-back, in the only change to the team that lost 3-2 from 2-0 up against Hoffenheim.

First-ever meeting
Considering this is Heidenheim's maiden Bundesliga campaign and Dortmund have spent every season since 1976 in the top flight, it is perhaps no surprise that these two have never faced off in a competitive match previously. After two defeats in their first two matches, Heidenheim will be looking to pick up their first points amongst the elite, although that will be a tough ask against one of Germany's heavweights.
Teams news: Heidenheim
Terzic's Heidenheim counterpart Frank Schmidt, meanwhile, has fitness doubts to contend with. Marnon Busch and Elidon Qenaj are the only two players to miss the trip to the Signal Iduna Park, giving Schmidt plenty of options to choose from. Amongst those the boss will be hoping cause Dortmund problems is Jan-Niklas Beste, who spent 11 years on Die Schwarzgelben's books as a youngster before departing in 2018.
Teams news: Dortmund
Edin Terzic was without Julian Ryerson for the trip to Bochum, while Felix Nmecha and Mats Hummels both suffered injuries against VfL. However, there was good news for the BVB head coach at the start of the week, as both Hummels and Ryerson were able to take part in team training. Nmecha, though, could only complete an individual running program. Jamie Bynoe-Gittens and Karim Adeyemi both featured at Bochum and will be in contention to start here.
